  • They say it is not barreling but fail to mention how If they were on any other board or belly, those rights would have given them really clean tubes.

  • waves @ 1:06 was sick!

  • 0:14 lol, the guy with no shirt looks like spencer from icarly

  • Board looked wrong for the conditions. Notice how hard to deal w bottom turn ? I do agree, harder for them to avoid hitting guys in a lineup once the drop started, so I would take it personally of either hit me on the drop or with a lost board. I do give them credit, just not the right place for Sup's in that croud!

  • Kooks. And btw no one wears a leash at wedge. No point

  • there is no point and you should not be allowed to SUP at the wedge. I would be pissed. Guarantee those boards hit people that day. Surfing wedge is dangerous enough

  • this SUPS are being thrown around by that wave, it looks like they weigh nothing!

  • 1:54

    "Look dad, FREE BOARD!!"

  • sucks they had to paddle out after every wave they caught

  • TJ Seaman

  • they need to wear a leash, there board is gonna hit someone and kill em, especially at the wedge

  • @TheOGsurfer no one was wearing a leash that day... it was too big

  • @gscottmagnus oh yeah, it coulda drowned you right?

  • @gscottmagnus

i did see people wearing a leash in this vid.

see that kid at the end scored himself a new surfboard though!

    woohoo!

  • @TheOGsurfer you cant wear a leash at the wedge youd get something torn off

  • I don't have a problem with SUP's When used correctly by the right person in the right places and conditions they can be a great workout and pretty fun I think the problem is there are to many inexperienced people out there with money who hop on them because they are the latest fad then take them in places where they shouldn't be and put others in danger SUP's should be reserved for people with experience in the water and who know the workings of a lineup just my opinion as a lifeguard

  • from an old dude here

back in the late 70s or early 80s just surfing the wedge was rare now sup at the wedge amazing

  • these guys are my best friends and they are epic life-guards

  • At 2:05 i think that guy stole his board hahaha

  • Take that shit to San O, nobody wants to get nailed by the fuckin boat your riding. S.U.P. should be banned from all lineups because they are technically on a boat and a danger to everyone in the water. All you can do is go into survival stance on those things anyway, oh and twirl your paddle around for "style". Worst thing to ever happen to lineups, S.U.P.

  • @SD2OCsponger they are better than kayaks crowding my spot....

  • @IhateyourVIEWS ya kayaks are no good either. There is a right spot and conditions for S.U.P. and kayaks, but a crowded lineup is not one of them. Just puts the rest of us in danger.

  • @SD2OCsponger totally agreed

  • @SD2OCsponger U-Mad brah, lol you cunt.

  • I wish I could surf

  • it just looks ugly.

  • lol i don't know what i would be more scared off, the wave or the sup flying towards me

  • First it was the long boarders who hated the new short boarders, then shortboarders hating longboarders, then all hating boggie boards, and now SUP's are the target. There are kooks on every type of watersport tool and I would bet these guys rip on traditional boards as well

  • @snapsport agreed man, its not the kooks that are the problem, its the people that take attitude in the water, wave catching is not about snaking and hassling its about good times!!!

  • Paddleboarding?! Cool, never seen it before.

  • holy buddah! thats HUGE swells!

  • welcome to the death of modern surfing..

"attention VESSEL; you must remain 1 mile offshore at all times..".

sup'erz are the mark mcguires and roger clemens' of waveriding and they THINK they're surfers...

Performance Enhancing Equipement needs to be Barred; but it won't, because there's money to be made...

  • @hbmyke1 but why you mad bro?

  • wow they charged

  • that in WA???

  • This is so lame. What TJ says around 1:00 pretty much sums it up. I can hear the Hobie folks now- "If you wanna get paid TJ, you have to make sure and say 'Hobie' stand up paddle boards" Is it really true oar boarders wear Zubaz pants when on land?

  • Awesome!

Please share your Sup experiences with us in our Community and Marketplace!

    Paddleboarding

  • This is great.... Just great, Bryce and TJ chose to uleash there 12 foot SUP boards on the general surfing community of new port beach. Great job!!!!

  • can you stand up and paddle on a normal longboard?

  • Dangerous. Like don't get hit by this huge vessel or liner

  • little grom at the end is like "yo im stealing this junk"

  • Why would you go out of your way to be awkward?

  • @lbsrfr999 who cares about bodyboarders anyway.

  • i don`t know much about sups but this red seems inadequate to these waves O_O))

  • This is a tough one. My backround is a skimboarder turned bodysurfer turned bodyboarder turned longboarder turned SUP surfer. I give mad respect to these guys for charging hard. The only thing to me is right tool for right job. I feel like a certain type of wave and certain types of conditions warrant the use of a certain type of board. For examlpe I can ride a SUP but if I was at Sandys I would bodyboard and would not like to see a SUP out there. Just because u can doesnt mean u should.

  • the kid at the end is like, yep mine back off

  • well to begin with surfing the wedge is crazy- it always closes out. and you will get pounded. bring a 10 foot 25 inch wide tanker into the mix and yea it could get dicey. but these guys got a few nice sections and no harm done.

I surfed this place a couple of times years ago and really didn see the point. if you enjoy sand and water dripping out of your sinuses for 2 weeks then go for it.

I would rather surf smaller cleaner any day...

  • thousand dollar boards in shorepound

  • Next stop "Chopes"

  • sick

  • sick well done gents

  • haha 1:52 "look mom free dead guy's board!"

  • damn cant get away from SUP anywhere...

  • sup is for guys who can't surf and want to sit way outside and take all the waves. sup is for exsercise not surfing

  • @themexican309, yeah right ... go tell Laird he can't surf or GMac or Kainoa or Ikaika, get a brain dude, surfing IS surfing dumbass haha !!!

  • @bradpita2 i agree brad, a lot of cunts talking shit here. douche bags punk asses.

  • @themexican309 says the mexican, lol. you mad. nah you broke and cant afford a sup board.

  • 4 sub?

    Want to trade 10 subs?

  • ugly dysfunctional crap

  • WTF!!!

how can they arrive until the end without eating any wave in the way?????

  • The wedge is so gnarly

  • who goes right at the wedge....suicide

  • and a question for tj......

were you out at mavs on tuesday i think i saw you?

  • trippin on this video for two reasons....

first --- these guys are surfing wedge on stand ups pretty damn good

second --- im pretty sure i went to high school with these guys and from what i remember they sucked at surfing and were the classic kooks from laguna, when i was 14 and a freshman i could paddle circles round them on my shortboard and they were juniors at that time hahaha funny what graduating from high school does to some people.....

but seriously good to see you guys are ripping now

  • that seems fun!!!!!

  • you didnt leash up so a lil mexican picked up your board at 1:54

  • @skateboard325 dude how old r u, i know the kid is doing it to help it was a freaking joke!!! get over it

  • little basterd kid stealing the SUP, kill him!!

  • @michaelmeel retard. thats so the tide doesnt come in a nd take it back at and makes it IMPOSSIBLE to get your board back. that kid is smart so just shut up. honestly

  • is that a surfboard or a boat?why surf in that if u can bodyboard?

  • Nice score kid. Run!

  • lol bryce saeman

  • paddle boarders are the lowest of the low

  • Most people who criticize it do not have balls to do that. Of course who does stand up paddle surfing has to respect everyone in the line up and of course, paddling away from the crowd or not wanting to go into all the waves. In the end, it's all a matter of respect.

  • love the vid!! come check out our vid on our channel ;)

  • all you SUP wankers can fuck off and leave the waves to the spongers and surfers who actually ride the waves properly

    SUP is weak!

  • oo that shit looks fuking colld !

  • Dude this leash thing has absolutely nothing to do with safety for the rider.

It's about the poor bodyboarders who are going to die if they get hit by that thing. It's sad cuz they don't do anything and lose their boards every wave; when spongers actually ride and do tricks.

  • This is one of the most retarded things I have ever seen. Hands down.

  • Anyone calling these guys irresponsible should remember these are all experienced watermen. An experienced person would remove the threat if they felt threatened.

Inexperienced people are the majority of the drowning victims, they are in an alien world.

These guys contributed to the entertainment factor, good eats are fun to watch and the Wedge has contributed alot of entertainment over the years.

  • i was there thats part of the risk you take going in the water ibs ... no one is out to hurt eachother but shit happends

  • why did u not have a sex in there i will do it in july 19 2010 u will see ha

  • well guess your still gonna get made fun of...... charging pretty hard but you should still probably try to find your own wave, I know thats impossible in Newport and maybe not 10,000 people to watch you but at least you wont be putting so many people at risk

  • wo these guys commenting are ass holes how do they suck?? they are charging on SUP's and fuck you racist

  • @skateboard325 how would u kno if he is or is not gay. and y do u think he is mexican, he could be a white kid, he was prob gettin the board 4 the surfer

  • These guys suck , what idiots . It is just luck that they didn't kill someone .

  • It's all fun and games until a SUP kills someone at The Wedge or in LB.

  • Yeah....thats pretty ballsy and ballsy and badass....but pretty dumb and irresponsible too, to have those tankers flying unleashed all over in a place so packed with swimmers and bodyboarders. I wonder if anyone chewed their asses out in the water...

  • its like the kid runs off with it and sticks the finger up

  • Yea... This was a bad call on their end. Fun to watch if they were the only ones up, but they are steam rolling through the lineup... One false move and someone could die just from being impacted by one.

  • thats raw

  • there kooks man

  • What's the point of making all these hateful comments hiding under an anonymous name? I guess that's what playing video games all day does to you.

  • i wonder when u fall in the wedge how much time u stay on the wave!!!!! u can die there!!!!!!

  • At first glance it looks pretty cool. Then you wonder how cool it wooda been if they had crushed the skull of a body surfer when their unleashed SUP'r boards goes flying towards the shore. I'm sure they would have been arrested for manslaughter.

  • For the record, Bryce and TJ were very careful. When they bailed out, there wasn't anybody inside. It was a HUGE day and everyone in the water was experienced.

  • @gscottmagnus Only thing i notices\d was the SUP boards you were using were too long and instead of turning, because of the speed they would slip out from under them... I think a 8 1/2 to 9 ft fish SUP would work a heck of a lot better....

    0:48

  • @lbsrfr999 You don't wear a leash at the wedge unless you wanna get hurt not even body boarders

  • @lbsrfr999 Long Beach surfer? More like Long Beach doucher. I want to see you leash up out in that surf, go commit suicide you monkey.

  • @lbsrfr999 yeah have respect dufus nobody would ever find you in surf that size

  • Wow that is just ridiculous. Those paddle boards are flying all over the place and could easily kill someone. There is no way you can control a paddle board in that kind of surf. Leave the paddle boards for small days or flat water cruising. A lot of 'regular' surfers have problems with SUP's because they are big, dangerous, and most people cannot control them properly. When I lived in Hawaii i was struck by one in the head. Luckily I wasn't seriously injured.

  • Yer they are water born projectiles. They should just be banned outright. Here in Oz jetskis were banned at popular beaches but these things are way more dangerous. At least with a jetski the rider has control. SUP's are lame lame lame

  • Yeah, I think it looks a bit too risky aswell

  • Nice left at 1:07

  • look at all the boogie boarders!

  • what a joke stand up kooks r everywhere i guess what kooks i have more respect for a sponger

  • Haaaa, somebody can't afford 1.

    Crybaby

  • i almost respect surfers but not really

  • Stand up kooks? I BOOGIE but shit, how could u call em that? The stand up boys got better waves than anyone that day. I sat on the beach all morning and watched these kids charge. They took a beating at cylinders, and it was heavier than it looks in any video ive seen. Then the one scores the wave off the peak? Yup. fuckin KOOKS!

  • how do they keep there paddles? how do they do it can someone explain

  • iron grip!

  • i reakon all surfers on any size board should have leggies on but if there had a leggie on those sup boards in waves that big, wouldnt i like pull the leg out of place or something when they wipper out?

  • @tomasaurus22 what are you even saying?

  • rofl leash up you kidding me?

you leash up in 20+ft surf at shore break... good luck not killing yourself

  • @xnormajeanx1 Especially SUPing. Im a mother supper too

  • i have one thing to say.... surfers are creating issues for body surfers and are dangerous in general lol... its the wedge!

  • i have one thing to say, paddleboards are creating issues for surfers and are dangerous when people kick there boards away from them, you people need to leash up or be more aware of others in the water.

  • @jbcella, love the way surfers think god died and left them the ocean, how come when surfers get close to my kids when we are in the water playing, we are told to get out of the way, when someone comes near you, it's dangerous and stupid, I SUP and Kayak, so get outta my way or I'll smash you out of the way.

  • first of all you really didn't read my msg did you? your ocean mentality of "I'll smash you out of the way" is against any surf mentality of "sharing and respecting the ocean". You are very much the same as the surfers that you describe.

  • I feel sorry for those surfers and you, because you people are those who think the way that you described because they never truly enjoy the ocean and what it has to offer. They are completely agro, its pretty pathetic considering surfing is all about having fun and respecting the water. My main concern is for the OTHER PEOPLE in the water when you are on a stand up paddle board because of how much of a

  • disregard people who are SUPaddling have for other people. I'm just saying you should leash up and become more aware of those who are paddling around or on sponges.

I once heard a quote on youtube and the guy stated something like this, its not about what your riding as long as your in the water and you respect it. You don't respect it or the other people in the water... therefore you don't deserve it... change your way

  • @jbcella your right, my first comment was written as a general rebuke against most short boarders I have come across, who are not the waterman you describe, but whining girls who think they own the place, unfortunately it's wearing very thin, the respect thing is very one sided, why should I be frowned upon because I can catch stuff sooner or smaller, that's the advantage of what I use, I alway's share, but look at the comments from other people, hardly reasonable.

  • @jbcella look at most SUP sites, they all go on about respecting surfers and being polite, sharing waves and holding off without hogging, then read the posts about surfers being openly hostile to them just for turning up, insulting them for doing nothing other than being there, yes there are safety issues when not leashed, but as I stated earlier there are plenty of idiots in all parts of water sports, it's not an SUP or kayak thing, my 10 year old was run into by a surfer in 2 foot of water,

  • @jbcella and told to get out of the way, my response was equally friendly, when they are playing with their body boards I have to constantly look out for these idiots ploughing into them, not on kayak's or SUP's, but so called watermen on shortboards, more interested in staying on a wave than hitting someone. I know you are going to tell me these are not real surfers, but that's what I have come across, and it's a common occurence,

  • @fatboyslimfast999 cuz your little kids are fucking kooks who get in the way. They are putting their selves in danger

  • I hope you come near them one day sunshine, when you do I'm gonna drown you.

  • omg im postin dis frum my DSi!!!

  • hate paddleboard riders so much!

  • stupidest thing i've seen in a long time. one of the loose boards easily could have killed someone.

  • stop hating on these 'kooks" lets see u catch one at wedge on a frikin SUP with a thousand boogie boarders in front of u cussing u out....these guys have BALLS OF STEEL

  • @jumpkenny - nobody is questioning their 'BALLS OF STEEL'. Just their judgement. No matter how careful they were u cant always plan your bailout when nobody is between u and the beach. I dont hate SUP's. But there are proper places for them. Mega wedge ain't one of them.

  • i hate SUP they steal all waves and are the biggest hoggs ....... wished they got smashed out there!!!

  • LOL the kid at the end just walks off with the board! lol

  • haha i was thinking the same

  • Haha, was pissing myself at that

  • Fuck SUP boarders. Seriously. They should not be out there stealing waves from everyone and putting people's lives in danger with their 12 foot airplane wings.

  • @JohnAndRadChris FUCK YOU. Locals have right of way. 90 percent of those kooks on their sponges live in riverside or further. Being a jealous dick wont make you a better surfer....

  • Localism is a myth and anyone who exploits it for more waves or merely for argument's sake is on the wrong path. "We live here!" Yeah? So did the native Indians and the Abo's in Oz. But are you about to give them their land back? Duh I don't think so mate! No one "owns" the beach like so many "nearby inhabitants" would assert. Localism is caked in ego and supported by numbers only. If you put 50 tourists in the water suddenly YOU are the kook!

I agree with John/Chris. SUP is LAME and dangerous

  • (Y)

  • @Pigroota And yet with your "SUP is LAME" comment you perpetuate the problem by having a holier than thou attitude and not letting everyone express themselves in the water how the wish.

  • yo I'm all about fuckin expression dude. For example - I respect tow-ins, boogers, bodysurfers... even goat-boaters! But how would someone express themselves if they can't talk or walk because an 18 ft projectile put a rent in their heads?

  • @Pigroota lol you again

  • @Pigroota spoken from a true blow in

  • mmm, great argument there mate. Backed up by zero evidence and no reason. Conversely, my logic is infallible. Try harder next time homie

  • I guarantee nobody in there sponging is from riverside. The Wedge is such a heavy and critical wave, that nobody without an buttload of experience can paddle out, let alone get a ride and live.

You would know that if you have ever ridden the Wedge

  • nope, theres always a handful of kooks at wedge. even this day, a bunch of donks paddled out.

  • Those boards will be broken soon =)

  • fyi the wedge is actually Newport beach.

  • No... Its in newport beach.. Not just newport.

  • This is by far the MOST IMPRESSIVE sup video I've ever seen!!! Great to see sup riders pushing limits where nobody imagine. Keep charging!!!

  • ?????? seriously ???????

  • idiots are going to hurt someone!

  • i give these guys props for charging out there with a SUP, but seriously? thats fricken dangerous

  • Busy lineup + big day = Keep control of your board or don't go out.

But if you ask me, everyone who hits the Wedge on a big south swell kinda has a screw loose. Fun to watch, though.

  • hijos de puta lo unico que haceis es molestar y robarnos olas a los que surfeamos limpiamente.un dia nos vais a hacer daño y se va a liar

  • can some please explain to me how you dont loose ur paddle? and how do u get out without suck dives?

  • I'm not going to deny that this requires balls and skill. Its blatantly far more dangerous than boogering or surfing. Surfboards have leashes and boogers are soft. At one point there were two of these boards loose in the shorebreak. You could end up riding into of these boards without seeing it. I've also seen another picture where some guy is holding onto the board while trapped on the peak. He lets go and 8 guys get a face full of board. Someones going to get hurt. Can you sue?

  • i dont think the shortboarders use leashes at the wedge either, do they?

  • yeahhhh no wayy they would. its soo close to shore thatif u come off ur on the sand anyway. to make it safer for everyone including the rider, they dont wear a rope

  • Oh please oh please oh please lets not bring litigation into surfing....

  • Comment removed

  • you guys are sick thats mental !!

  • Great... a oversized long with NO LEASH at the wedge.. as if it wasn't dangerous enough.

  • If you used a leash you would die.

  • So its a case of somone else rtather than yourself... right that really makes sense...

  • Lol i was out there that day with a leas hand i did almost die

  • lol the little shit 8 yr old kid stole the lads paddleboard

  • how to find your surfboard back ?

  • BARNEYS

  • damm paddle boards..!:=) keep them away...short boards should have right of way...

  • TJ? Tijuana oh yeah ive seen you working the streets man!

  • Good ride starting at 1:05.

  • fokn sweepers

  • if they used a leash they would have their legs ripped off,

  • sorry i meant to give you a thumbs up, wron button
