  • funny how they don't show the video of jake knocking robinson on his ass

  • i think hes the GOAT because o the record and how many times he fought but not on his boxing ablity because he looks really bad in the ring, did they not teach fighters how to defend and move there heads back then... no counter shots from robinson...how would he fair aginst a prime roy jones??? hes having probblems blocking shots from a slow ass fghter what happen when hes in there with a man who u cant blink aginst..not talking shit im just being real here...

  • it wasn't no steroids back then.....

  • Man, Shane Mosley really took his style.

  • @electricwave word him and shane look so alike

  • BOTHERIN' ME BOUT A STEAK!!!!!!

  • Robinson used his Reach very well against LaMotta, in oppinion he wouldnt have stood toe to toe with him, he had to use his long reach and keep moving back and waiting for oppurtunities to counter. whilst Lamotta with shorter reach fighter had to try and jab his way closer. toe to toe LaMotta wouldve came out of this better but Boxing isnt always about brawling as we all know.

  • 4:07 is raw as fuck

  • Robinson weigh in 145 and LaMotta 157 on this match, on the rematch, laMotta again had a weigh advantange of a woping 16 pounds.

  • sugar ray robinson had everything that a boxer needed. Footwork, punch speed, punch accuracy and powerful punches. He had 108 KOs. On the orher hand, it is amazing how tough Lamotta is.

  • GOAT period

  • @piratewithbird60

Nothing about Jake LaMotta was feminine... he wasn't the strongest puncher or most skilled fighter but Sugar Ray Robinson said himself he was the toughest fighter he ever faced. The guy had heart and took it to his opponent relentlessly, he never backed down that's for sure.

And Jake had the strongest chin ever... only went down once in his career (later on past his prime) and SRR gave him some beatings. Gotta give credit where it's due!

  • I need to correct myself. Jake and Ray agreed to a 5 ounce glove for all of their fights. Today, studies have shown a large increase in brain injury as a result of better glove equipment (higher weights) because fighters throw much harder and more frequently with better gloves. Technology used to detect brain injury has advanced since the time of bare knuckle boxing... of course reports show increased brain injury rate. Stitches and broken hands have decreased as a result of better gloves.

  • if pacquiao was around this era..he would have got knocked out !!

  • @sliccflip your right pacquiao is in THIS era and he did get knocked out twice lol

  • I'm sorry folks. No disrespect to these two legendary fighters, but they don't engage as intensely as in todays bouts. The rage isn't in them like modern day fighters. Today's fighters go for broke. These guys are much more measured and patient. Cool to watch but it doesn't get my adrenalin pumping! That's why you can't compare fighters from different eras. The whole way of life and culture is different. Today's public would boo this action and certainly wouldn't buy on pay per view.

  • @Blackjaynut your crazy.

  • @Blackjaynut Why are they measured and patient? Because they used tiny 4 ounce gloves that when you hit someone it's all knuckle... It hurts and hurts bad, no one wanted to get hit..except Jake who loved being punished. You have to take into consideration the nutritional diet, the exercise and overall health conditions of the time, these guys fought, it wasn't just a pay per view show for money, life was hard. It was about who was the bigger man, who could take the shots and not end up floored.

  • @Johnnyblazedanketch I see what your saying. Thats very interesting. I can appreciate the toughness and talent of these fighters much more after your explanation. Thanks for pointing that out. I see the it differently now. This is a serious fight here.

  • @Blackjaynut Also if you want action then watch the 11th 12th and 13th round when Sugar Ray Robinson began to turn it up. Floyd Mayweather has the highest pay per views today and we are lucky to see him throw 50 punches around. Most of the time its 40 or less. There were rounds in this fight were they were throwing between 70 and 100 punches around. The pace may seem slower at times but it really isn't.

  • @Blackjaynut Another reason for the way Ray is fighting, Strategy. Jake is a natural LH weight and fought that in the amatures. He cut to 160 in his pro fights in his 20s. Ray knew that he had trouble making weight and decided to box him in the early rounds and bring out the heavy artillery when Jake began to weaken around the 10th rd. Remember that Sugar a Great Puncher who could box and brawl when the time came for it. How is do you think he got over 100 knock outs.

  • @Blackjaynut

dude wtf it is the exact other way around why should i pay 50 bucks to see gayweather fight a boxer two fights away from forced retirement

  • Why the hell did nobody film any of Robinson's fights as the welterweight champion!?!?!?! They have film of some fights from like 1890 something but none of his fights from the 40s!!!! Nobody seems to have an answer to this mystery.

  • @SuperJackburton1 They tryd film them he was too fast tho !! :P

  • @SuperJackburton1 Probably because they knew he was far the greatest fighter of his era didn't want people to like the black man lol.

  • Would ya look at those feet! Sweet thunder, Sugar Ray Robinson's footwork sure was something!

  • I believe lamotta was underrated because he didnt prove to have outstanding speed or unbelievable power but he got the job done every time and he deserves a lot of credit for that

  • haha i don't understand why part one and five have the most views of this fight. does no one like watching the whole thing??? and just before 44 seconds into this is pretty intense...idk how lamotta takes all these punches

  • left hook at 1:45 shook up ray huh?

  • I wished Robinson would have just stopped running around the ring and fought Lamotta. The dancin shit is bullshit. The spectators didn't come to watch a ballet.

  • @spactick GLAD SOMEONE SAID IT!!

  • @spactick What happened in round 13.

  • @spactick dude..... Go watch UFC, please!

  • @Haassan1 They should have made Sugar Ray wear a ballet dress. No joke. With lipstick.

  • @spactick It's not just Ray avoiding the action. Neither fighter wants to exchange. Lamotta pressures Ray but when the opportunity is there Lamotta can't pull the trigger. Maybe it's age. 30 then is like 40 today.

  • Uh huh......tyson was so "evasive" that he avoided Buster's and Holyfield's punches, eh? lmao

  • Check out boxer of Philadelphia ( Anthony Abruzzese )

  • LaMotta could take a beating like nobody else.

  • SRR the greatest ever hands down. Power and Speed. LaMotta might have been a plodder, but the dude was as tough as they come and perhaps the best jaw ever.

  • @alielmir2. "how hard the boxer hits" lol. What you talking about??

  • @1SugarRayRobinson1 how long did a post that comment ? a year ago. that's pretty pathetic to go to the fourth page of the comment section to troll a person and end up embarrassing them selves.

  • dude is it me or robinson leg are kinda........ well... WHERE ARE THEY !???

  • I think this is what it would look like if Ali fought Tyson. La Motta moves/steps in like Tyson and has stronger punch then Robinson. But Sugar is a better skillful fighter with fast feet and hands.

  • @rezuldazzle Tyson was Much faster than la motta, and Much more evasive. I really dont know what you're talking about.

  • robinson i think has abetter punch than lomotta lamotta is a pressure fighter he throws alot of punches...robinson has power and hes a boxer...its said that lomotta hands were small and fragile thats why he went to the body so much..thats what bert sugar said n e ways

  • mayweather is pound for pound the best today but like i said hes got nothing on robinson and like i said man is it boring to watch him, we're paying to watch him hit heavy bags, thats all it is, if mosley lets his hands go he will knoch mayweather down and he can pull out a close descision but mosley has to be active and let his hands go hes got to hit and side step and keep giving mayweather plenty of angles just like robinson did with lamotta and so many others

  • @mattimus1415: you mentioned mosley. Have you ever noticed that Robinson is who Shane seems to fight like. Shane's style is power boxing just like Robinson. Shane throws hooks and over hand rights with the same kind of vigor and tenacity as Robinson does. He does this so much so, he seems to emulate Robinson's style.

  • ray was and still is ahead of his time, the greatest all around fighter of all time, something that should be noted ray was also up there with lamotta and george chuvalo for having such a great chin as well as flawless skills, robinson is the blue print for anyone that wants to try and become the perfect all around fighter, i think tha mayweather today is the most talented fighter active, but man is he boring to watch, he's not up on his toes he doesnt put punches in bunches and hes fuckin borin

  • i had a trainer once who worshiped ray,he used to say ray could knock a guy moving backwards.the trainer, said ray was the best ever.if ya get a chance watch him jump rope, what an athelete.what a dancer too,i mean ray was like a sort of gene kelly on his feet

  • Cinderella man was Braddock... you can tell cos Braddock fights like a heavy fisted corpse.. lamotta fights a tiny bit like marciano

  • is jake lamottta the boxer represnted in the cinderalla man??

  • Raging Bull.

  • Jake lamotta could take punishment , thats for sure...omfg,,,

  • I love Jake Lamotta hes up there with the greats robinson 2 best for there time

  • 1st of all he called joe fraizer an uncle tom not joe louis retard when ali got stripped of his title for refusing to serve his country fraizer loaned him money when he couldnt fight when asked about ray robinson s military service and was asked who was better "Im the greatest im THE PEOPLES champ" Ali was a snake who kept others down thats y larry holmes quit being his sparring partner & to the idiot thanking gangst thank him for making u an even bigger idiot

  • @cpdusmcdst9 are you sure it wasn't floyd patterson who he called uncle tom? he "hated" joe, but i don't think that was the zenith of their rivalry, i think frazier/ali was more about boxing that perso, nal shit, frazier didn't, to my knowledge, call him clay like patterson and bonevena did, but i could be wrong.

  • Check out the beautiful uppercut Sugar Ray hits Lamotta with at 2:52

    Robinson skills are amazing

  • Shame we cant see their 5 Welterweight fights, now that would have been amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • robinson boxs almost like ali.the way they move and throw punches are the same! now i realised that ali had his style copied from this man. like them very much.great boxers of century!!!

  • lamottas got a big ass bison head.

  • YOURE an IDIOT ALI HATED RAY ROBINSON U DUMB MOTHER FUCKER

  • Comment removed

  • Ali didnt hate Ray Robinson, he was his idol and copied Sugars style. Ali once said about Ray " the king, my master, my idol" those words dont sound like a man who hates someone, he worshipped him. Ali wasnt overly keen on Joe Louis and called him an uncle Tom.

  • @gangst1978 thank you for some real history lessons. that douche doesn't know what hes talking about. I know that most people consider ray the best p4p of all time and id have to agree. but if its like 1000 points to Robinson then its like 999 points to Ali. Ali copied Robinson's style a bit but he was faster and more fleet footed, Robinson was a tad slower (p4p that is) but his power was magnificent. not much beats a combination of speed and power.

  • sit in the corner and face the wall... people like you should be sent to work camps.

  • @cpdusmcdst9 lol ali admitted in an interview that he thought that if any man could be named that had ever been better as a fighter regardless of weightclass it was SRR. Ali talked badly about almost every fighter that wasnt himself and every black man that wasnt a black muslim. but most of that stuff was when he was young when he grew up a bit more he was much more humble- at least as humble as ali can be. I doubt he HATED RAY ROBINSON

  • Sure about that check out Gene Tunney Tribute, Gene Tunney Tribute II and Tunney and Ali by before making your decision

  • Shane Mosley fights just like him.

  • The voice over says "In Illinois they use a ten point split system of scoring" at 2:49. But this fight was in Detroit, MI.

So was the third one - three weeks after this fight. Three weeks!!!

  • Ok. This is the TKO fight. This is Chicago. I can't find the LaMotta win.

  • tko's jake not ko's get it right jake ko'd ray ray never ko'd jake tko'd there's a difference! i never went down Ray i never went down!

  • in what world did lamotta ko sugar ray?

  • @MrPalspal i bet ur dad beats you too hahahahah

  • this guy has to be the toughest mother' in history

  • @TheArtofCinema an he lived to be 90! that's unbelievable! truely a chin of iron

  • After watching Sugar Ray Leonard against Duran, these guys look they're fighting in slow motion.

The golden age of boxing was really the 70s and 80s. Late 60s too, I suppose.

  • lamotta had such a big dome

  • his left hook is the strongest. he killed contender jimmy doyle with it

  • Pound for pound, the greatest boxer ever.

  • INDEED DONT U WISH HE WAS FIGHTING TODAY AS A YOUNG BOXING SUPERFAN I SAY 1 COULD ONLY DREAM......LOOK AT THE SMOOTH BUTTER STYLE OF HIS .lol PHENOM G*O*A*T

  • all i want to see is the scene where he lets beat him up against the ropes, is that a real part of it, or is it on here please someone hit me up on it.

  • yup um type sugar ray robinson ko's lamotta

  • Check out 2:50 to 2:55 for an awsome ray robinson shoulder feint to a brutal right upper cut. AWSOME!

  • man i youst imagen if robinson would have never lost that fight

  • robinson is so awsome hes my idol man

  • 2 things: lamottas got a big melon, and robinson circles to the right athe whole fight

  • lamotta had a chin of granite.

  • jake lomatta is a beast

  • which fight is that. the 2nd. which year??

  • Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali are the key images of what an American boxer should be

  • Wow... such great fighters. No wonder so many fight fans are disillusioned with the fighters we have now. How can we compare them to these two here?

  • True, modern fighters, American and European, are pussies.

There are still some brawlers and real fighters with heart from Latin America though.

  • Ray Robinson was the greatest.

    —Sugar Ray Leonard

Without a doubt the greatest pound for pound fighter that ever lived.

    —Jake LaMotta

The king, the master, my idol.

    —Muhammad Ali

  • jigglyfidda125 :"Ray Robinson was the greatest."

Robinson could only mange one win in his 4 fights with Gene Fullmer. How come nobody talks about Fullmer?

Armstrong and Pep were arguably more impressive than Robinson. Look up those men's achievements.

  • Robinson was past his prime win he fought Fullmer and in either the 3rd or 4th fight I've heard that Robinson should have won but the fight was ruled a draw.

Willie Pep is one of the greatest fighters ever and if it were based exclusively on boxing skill Pep probably would be the greatest. One think that Pep could not do that Robinson could was beat fighters with their on style. Sugar could outbox boxers out brawl brawlers and knock out men heavier than himself.

  • One such name that comes to mind is Artie Levine who was over 160 while Sugar was a welterweight(147). Also the first fight that He lost to Lamotta he was 144 and Lamotta was 160.

  • Fullmer was good but there are some reasons why. Gene was in his prime when he faced Sugar Ray. Robinson was 36-41 years old during his fights with Fullmer.

Even with that Sugar iced Gene with one punch in their rematch. It was one of the most perfect punches anyone has ever seen.

Then in their 3rd fight in 1960 in Los Angeles Sugar Ray boxed Gene`s ears off and won at least 10,11 rounds that night. They called it a draw but that was a bogus decision.

SRR shouldve been the 6 time champ

  • @jigglyfidda125 and rocky marciano dude what about him? :)

  • Robinson is so quick.

    It's unbelievable.

  • Tyson/Frazier could go either way. I think Mike could devastate Joe early because Frazier was a slow starter. If the fight goes past the first 4-5 rounds Joe starts to smoke and get into that bobbing and weaving rythem. Once Frazier got warmed up he was a impossible man to deal with.

If I had to bet on it I would pick Joe to survive the early onslaught of Mike Tyson and wear Mike down and stop him around 10-12 rounds. I dont think Joe gets the credit he deserves from many fight fans.

  • Tyson lost ever with good opponents.

  • lutenco, that's not actually a sentence, is it? ''Tyson lost ever with good opponents.'' Do you mean he lost to all his good opponents? Because that's just silly.

  • Robinson outboxed him most of the fight and outslugged him when he needed to. The Greatest fighter P4P in history

  • Ali(I'm sick of him), Tyson? watch this fight folks, it's a lesson on boxing strategy by two classic masters. Robinson's footwork to stay in the squared puncher's axis, LaMotta trying to move in and out of Robinson's jab with lefts underneath and rights over the top and to the body. Robby moves to the left to avoid jab jab right, LaMotta rolls/slips right then pounds to body. GREAT STUFF

  • how the FUCK was round 4 robinson's? bullshit...

  • I agree. I think that the Bronx Bull landed the better power punches in round 4.

  • The footwork is amazing. Like I said Ali must of studied this guys footwork.

  • Aside from that, Ali was beaten in his first fight with Frazier.

The easiast comparison to Mike and one of Ali's opponents would be Smokin Joe.

Tyson's head movement when in his prime is far superior than joes, his speed FAR superior, his punch selection was far superior, the power is arguable - heavyweights in tysons era were alot more dense than heavyweights back then, they obsorb punches better.

That being said, Tyson would be the most logical favorite - styles make fights.

  • joe had a much higher workrate than mike

  • Tyson`s opponents were mostly overweight lazy underachievers. Tony Tubbs, Trevor Berbeck, Pinklon Thomas. Mike Spinks was not a natural heavy and didnt belong in with Tyson.

Joe Frazier was a better inside fighter than Tyosn. He stayed inside and moved his hands consistantly under/over. Tyson rushed in and was easy to tie up and sometimes he was the one tying up. He had nowhere near Frazier`s stamina.

Ali would beat Tyson mentally then box his ears off.

  • I disagree there bro. I honestly don't like to base fighters skill based on their opponents, because RJJ had a safe career as well, but there's no denying his prowess when primed.

I like everything you said about Joe, other than his inside fighting being better Tysons. Tyson was more elusive inside, much harder to hit than joe, who blocked most punches with his gloves and cross defense. He tried to parry most punches.

Tyson would attack off misses and slips, i think it was more effective IMO.

  • If you watch Tyson fights with Bonecrusher Smith, Mitch Green and James Quick Tillis you`ll see that Tyosn was easier to tie up inside than was Joe. Much of the time Tyson was happy to rest inside.

    The other element that favors Joe Frazier was his consistant body attack. Joe attacked the body like a Pit bull Dog. Mike could throw hard to the body but he was never relentless with it like Frazier {who was?}

Mike was more explosive early than Joe but not as dangerous late.

  • Very very true, Joes body attack was legendary. he was definitely a much harder worker in the ring than mike, his workrate was always top notch.

I don't think we can argue with tysons elusiveness though compared to other short hard hitting in fighters Ali may have come across.

I think it may have posed a threat.

What do you think would have come of a Tyson/Frazier match?

  • a tyson and frazier match would be fuckin insane man. two bulldogs pounding away at each other. it'd a crazy match, and i hate to say it but i think tyson would be able to slip frazier's punches and throw some nasty blows cause frazier was too much of a foward moving guy he would take too much of a beating like when he fought george foreman those two times

  • Tyson in the early rounds ...however if Joe cna last the first few rounds then he has a good chance of winning

  • totally agree

  • Bone. That isn't why tyson lost to douglas.

Don't act like the Tyson that fought douglas was a prime tyson. Sure, after prison Tyson's mystique was a bigger weapon than his actual in ring ability, but prior to his sentencing, intimidation was NOT the primary factory.

Tyson's Corner had a GLOVE FILLED WITH WATER as an Inswell... tyson ONLY threw punhces for the head.. this was not the same Mike that Cus trained.

Don't try to hide the facts.

  • As much as I like LaMotta's never-let-up style, I think Robinson's twinkle toes give him the edge in this fight.

Whenever Jake goes in for a big power shot, you can see Sugar Ray go in for a clinch, or a parry. Jake notices this and tends to use a lot of left jabs, but when Robinson is landing flurries with hooks and jabs that just isn't enough. I agree with the judges score cards.

  • Man this fight reminds me of Liston and Clay

  • sorry for the double post.

  • i think everybody should listen to bonesteoca i couldnt of said that better my self

  • which fight was this?

  • Robinson lost to LaMotta, beat another opponent and then beat LaMotta, all in ONE MONTH

  • that was real boxing...

the real thing is that Sugar Ray is the master, but jake had the attitude,he was born to be a boxer, any other guy would of been knocked down

  • umm floyd mayweather what do u mean i think floyd is just as skilled as robinson but isnt as offenseive minded as him and has just as much class if floyd was morre ofensive he would lok just as the greats

  • Many of Ali's fights are darn dull. He may have been 'the greatest' many peoples eyes, however I think his own repitition of the phrase contributes hugely to this assertion. Mayweather has comparable skills and a comparable amount of dreary contests. Am I a boxing heretic?

  • Ali fought much more better fighters that robinson, DERS,Sonny LISTON,henry cooper, floyd patterson, joe frazier, ken norton, george foreman

and they wer all good fighters robinson is a great fighter but not as good as ali

  • Yeah,Ali was great...but i prefer sugar ray in style,it's like comparing Ali to Tyson...both got great results, but Ali was an artist and Tyson was a great athlete, but nothing more

  • La Motta was not bad at all.

  • Robinson was the greatest fighter ever. La Motta was a brilliant fighter too. We will never ever see such class ever again

  • Ehhhh, Ali was a little better, had faster hand speed, and better movement considering the greater weight.

  • Yes, Ali was great. BUT Sugar Ray held five different belts at the same time. He was voted the greatest fighter that ever lived by ring magazine. Robinson ended up broke in New York which was terrible. Of course Ali was great but when it came to sheer class and brilliance, I think Robinson wins it.

  • Ali admitted in an interview that Sugar Ray was the greatest box ever.

  • Well of course, no fighter says they're the best, and Sugar Ray was Ali's idol. BUT Ali was voted the "Greatest Fighter of the 20th Century" over Sugar Ray, Joe Louis, Jack Johnson and others by a panel of 10 judges; 8 voted for Ali.

  • Robinsons record speaks for itself. Real fight fans know who the greatest was. Robinson accomplished things boxers today would die before accomplishing.

  • There are many fighters with such records. Would a normal person go twelve rounds in a pointless, non-title bout with their jaw separated by a quarter-inch? No disagreement, of course, I just think Ali was better pound-for-pound. And Ali's record speaks for itself.

  • you look at records all the fighters each fought. Robinson is dominate

  • because it was his role model

  • Ali wasn't better than Robinson. Let me think greatest heavyweights of all time a lot ppl forget the the old african american Champ Joe Johnson. Look him up

  • CocoCocko, I have trouble understanding why you think Robinson is better when you don't give examples. Ali lived the Golden Era of Boxing, and beat the best of the best. Robinson, however, kept fighting Jake LaMotta because there weren't many great fighters other than those two in that era. That's just one of my reasons.

  • Ray Robinson was better than Ali for the plan and simple reason that Ali HIMSELF said Robinson was better and that he looked up to the man. Ali said "I say I'm the greatest HEAVYWEIGHT of all time, but lb4lb Sugar Ray Robinson was the best of all time" Its on youtube, look on some SRR tribute vids.

  • That old african champ is Jack Johnson actually.....Yeah Robinson was Picasso with gloves.

  • Robinson was Ali's idol, you know. Do you think someone would claim to be better than their own inspiration and hero? Of course not.

  • You are retarded my friend, the Golden Era of Boxing was during Robinson or LaMotta's career: there had been among the most powerful middleweights (Marcel Cerdan, Jake LaMotta, Sugar Ray Robinson, Tony Zale,...) and also heavyweights (Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Jersey Joe Walcott,...).

  • Come on, ursulala, the heavyweight class is the most important of the classes. No group of great heavyweights came at a time so compact: Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Norton, Shavers, Bonavena, Holmes, and others. Ali faced the tougher opposition in his career, and Ali overcame it.

  • Moreover I think that Ali wasn't so good: he was famous because he was quite good, but also because he fought for blacks emancipation, and he was also a blabbermouth.

Therefore I think that the best of all time was Mike Tyson in his prime.

  • Tyson's best weapon was intimidation, a factor that means nothing against a fighter like Ali (watch Patterson-Liston, then Clay-Liston). Tyson was beaten by Douglas because he fought the fight for his dead mother. Ali, on the other hand, always had that motivation (just watch Ali-Frazier 3). He would've beaten Tyson the same way as Douglas: with the jab, Ali's best punch. Also, Ali was both faster and, above all, smarter than Tyson, and strategy can overcome any power (watch Ali-Foreman).

  • You don't win all your fights in the first round during 3 years with intimidation my friend...

  • Come on, use common sense. Fear effectively reduces the strength of all of a fighter's attributes. Intimidation is extremely useful to wink, and often all a fighter with great skill as well needs to win. Most of Tyson's early opponents were regulars, but the better ones, like Bonecrusher Smith, chose to fight for survival, not to win.

  • CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP.....preach my brother...cuz you is right bout dat fo sure...Ali was smarter and faster than Tyson.....BUT....Mike Tyson was alo Faster than all the oponents Ali fought....such as Frazier,Liston,Ken Norton, and Most of all George Foreman...so my question is do you think Ali wouldve had a tha Speed, quickness, agility, and power to fight off Tyson from coming inside...cuz even though Tyson lost to Buster Douglas..Douglas is alot stronger than Ali...So wat do you think?

  • Well, first of all, Douglas was not stronger than Ali; he was just making the most of his physical power that night. Ali didn't usually let it all go. However, in his fight with Cleveland Williams, Ali showed that he could not only combine incredible punching power with blinding speed (speed enough for Tyson, certainly), but proved he had a real KO punch.

  • Prime or past prime Robinson whipped him 4 of 5 times your excuse for LaMotta is lame "sugar" whipped him at every point during his career.

  • I personally think LaMotta got screwed once, so the series shoulda' gone 3-2. My opinion. No question they were both great, each in his own way. Robinson was so skillful, and LaMotta was so damn rugged, that they both had trouble getting fights. Nobody else would fight 'em, so they fought each other - a total of 60 brutal, all-out rounds. Really something.

  • get in a boxing ring yourself, then you'll understand how great these guys can really be :) lol

  • Rick Anderson: You haven't got a clue what you're talking about. Robinson is 90% of true fight fans top pound for pound fighter in the entire history of boxing. In fact don't even bother responding.

  • hmmm i would have given rnd 4 to lamotta

  • lamotta hands down was the toughest fighter ever.... fucking iron chin... NOBODY today would ever knock him out, and ray robinson.... nobody will ever have the ability he has, best fighter of all time hands down.today we have joe calzaghe, winky wright, bhop, trinidad is the past.... i like them all, but the truth is, robinson would have demolished every one of them

  • You are wrong Darcangelo89, LaMotta was knocked down once by Danny Nardico.

  • yah but lamotta was way past his prime.

  • da best greatest fight i have ever seen in my life. highlight of my life this is da greatest fight any boxing fan can ask for.... my all time fav SUGER RAY vs (1 of da best ever) LaMotta

  • I like how the announcer mentions Lamotta was never knocked down; in 83 fights never kocked down! Toughest fighter ever!!

  • Thanks for these clips sweetfights!

  • i am a strong believer that 95 percent of youtube is crap, this would be the other five percent =]

  • Thanks for posting this, I always hear commentators refer to Suger Ray Robinson and Lamotta as legends and talk about their skills, but i had never seen them before. i look foward to watching the rest of the fight.

  • i don't know how jake has not got somthing wrong with his brain

  • great commentary- where you get this version?
