  • I miss Daisy Owl. Are you going to start updating again?

    Please?

  • I want more!!!! And this is pretty cool, but I find the whole tablet thing confusing.

  • please come back

  • Loved this series! I Hope you can come back to making these whether it's the Daisy Owl series or not!

  • 2 things:

    1. I love this comic and I'm disappointed they seem to be stopped. You probably have a good reason for it but I'm just saying i'd like to see them carried on.

    2. You just totally showed me how I should draw in photoshop :)

  • COOMIIICCC SAAAAAAAAANNNSSS!!!!

  • wow man. the comics have had me laughing my ass off for the past month or so whenever i get time. I only just discovered them recently and so i am catching up on the archives. very funny. it's really cool to see the process too, to see some of the tricks, although i must admit to my ignorance of image editing so a lot of it goes over my head. for example why you are flipping horizontally...

  • oh god, why the comic sans?

  • I love Daisy Owl and I'm glad to see how it's made.

  • By the time I got to the end, I was thinking: When's he going to add colour to it?! Then I remembered something and I felt kinda stupid...

  • do you make any money doing your comic? i was just wondering. I like it when people can just live off of doing things like that.

anyway,, i hope all goes well and your project wonderful ads prices skyrocket.

  • where's your hand?

  • What kind of tablet do you use?

  • What kind of tablet do you use?

  • What kind of tablet do you use?

  • i cant 5 star fast enough

  • rock monocle sound vaguely reminiscent of 65daysofstatic or god is an astronaut. nice work driscoll.

  • Pretty cool.

What does it say in panel 4?

":( has" -something, I can't quite get youtube to show the exact frame.

  • 2:16

Ah, think it says ":( hand", heh.

  • I love how your artwork looks beautifully simplistic, but it takes a lot of effort to look that way.

As good as your comics are, I still have to ask: How can people eat in a diner without an airlock? Sometimes I think you are just being silly

  • Really fantastic!

What program did you use to make the time lapse?

  • Whats with the mirror-ing at 1:09???

    cool vid

and I just realised that the lack of traditional bubbles (rather, squares with typed text instead of handwritten) somehow lends to the honesty of this comic. your use of subtlety in randomness (no MONKEY SPOON LOL levels of degradation) also helps.

[jesus I just realised that I'm wankily analysing a webcomic on a youtube video. must reassess priorities.]

  • Mirroring helps find mistakes you don't usually see when un-flipped.

    @Driscoll

Love you, keep it up. (:

I'm amazed at how long it takes, man.

~Two hours, if my calculations are right.

  • Wait...If that's how long it take to make a comic why don't you update more? Also what is this "time lapse" of which you speak? Did they go back in time?

  • Comment removed

  • @foofeo

ok a) note, Daisy owl readers aren't stupid

b)sarcasm is what you just missed

  • I am disappointed by the loss of BRISTLE, because it is so clearly the sound a broom would make when wielded in such a threatening manner.

  • I take it back. I just realized that the diner is airless. Therefore the threatening broom can make no noise.

  • Amazing! Really impressed by how much work goes into the production of such a great webcomic. Love it!

  • Never apologize for lens flare.

  • ...Incredible.

  • Wow, I had no idea how much work went into these strips! Mr. Driscoll, you are an artist!

  • I like how now I know that guy was named Charlie and he used to have a hat.

  • @AikouNoTeichou Those two facts tell you a lot about a man.

  • It's not often I get to clap my hands and give a little giggly "yay." This is one of those rare moments.

  • A brilliant comic AND sick music? Ben Driscoll, ILU.

  • This is awesome, now you've got another subscriber.

Been following Daisy Owl for a while, and recently, it's been great to follow.

Too bad I don't have any online funds to buy some of the stuff in the store.

  • The bristle onomatopoeia was so awesome! Why'd you get rid of it?

    Also, Daisy Owl rocks!

  • @CynicallyInsaneX No sound in space?

  • I've been following Daisy Owl for quite a while now, and I must say you are really creative and naturally humorous! Also, what software do you use?

  • Daisy Owl is such an adorable and simple looking webcomic (not that I'm insulting you, mind you) that I'm amazed at how much time and effort is put into making it! It's admirable.

  • Only 5 and a half minutes to make a strip! That's pretty fast!

Also what is the name of the font you use at the end? It would be great on my webpage.

  • The font used was Comic Sans MS. Probably the most basic font in the world. :P Also my favourite from age 8-12.

  • @eloquentdiamond It's at 24x speed, so it's over 2 hours to draw this.

I think the font is called "Comic Sans MS"

  • Hahaha, when being sarcastic, it is incredibly difficult to distinguish whether the answers one gets are genuine or playing along.

If you weren't, check out maisirmoltesen's comment further down, and Ben Driscoll's following answer.

  • I have a soft spot for timelapses and montages. They make you think: "I could do that!" until you try the thing and you realise it is difficult to draw and you will never be able to box like Rocky.

  • Since a bunch of people have asked, I put the songs up for sale.

I guess I can't post links in comments, so the link is in the video description.

  • That light effect at the end is super cool, how did you make that??!

  • I am having a hard time figuring out if that's a serious question.

  • 2:16: " :( handss" ?

  • This is the best timelapse I have ever seen. And the music is simply superb.

  • I love what happens at about 2:55. It's as if he decided, "You know what, no. The first astronaut I drew was /simply not badass enough/."

  • Wow man, you do tunes as well? I like them! You should have them linked on the site or something.

  • They are now, in the sidebar. Glad you like them!

  • Thanks for doing this. I hope to see more of this in the future.

  • I love how whenever Steve is drawn, you always begin by drawing the nose.

  • I sort of can't accept that such a well-drawn strip is created on The Computer. Fancy!

  • Haha always cool to watch this stuff!

But seriously man, the music is awesome. I would love some source to download it, 'cause it's pretty quality stuff!

    PLEEEEEZZZZZ!

  • Wow, awesome thanks, )= Must be so much hard work making these... your onomatopoeias are awesome as well! :D

  • Outstanding

  • i love you so much right now.

    SO. MUCH.

also yes, you should've left BRISTLE in, we haven't had any new onomatopoeia in a while, unless i'm missing lots and lots.

  • Dang I love the music...also the timelapse is cool as well. but more music!

  • That was fascinating. Holy cow!

  • Way awesome cool! But why do you flip the image while editing?

  • It's a trick a lot of artists including myself use. When you're working on something for hours, you get used to the way it looks. If you flip the image, it's something different from what you're used to seeing and it helps you spot flaws.

  • For the record, the effort is TOTALLY worth it. I love Daisy Owl!

  • Awesome stuff man

  • so awesome

  • More of these please; they are a testament to the amazing amount of detail and thought you put into each of your comics

  • Your music reminds of God is an Astronaut and Explosions in the Sky. Well done.

And pretty cool going through the drawing process, thanks.

  • Totally should have left the "bristle" in!

  • Exactly what I was thinking : (

  • I didn't notice it when I just read the comic, but look at the door.. You can see space through its window in the second panel, even where there should be door frame!

Although maybe it's just a dark-tinted window, as the first frame may imply. You need lots of tinting when you're building in space.

  • So his name is CHARLIE, huh? Try to hide that from us will ya? |3

  • Epic :D

  • I must say I've always been impressed by how well you convey emotion and personality (especially Steve's fear) just through a few subtle changes and this video made me appreciate it all the more. Please keep up the great work!

  • I lol'd at the heavy amount of filters at the end.

  • Why'd you get rid of the guy at the end's hat? That looked cool...

    Love the strip. :)

  • It looks like it would be pretty easy to do it in color considering the style. Do you just prefer black and white?

  • Discoll just got more awesome. I need to sign up to the comic instead of just reading it...

  • In space, no one can hear you bristle.

  • This is simple outstanding.

  • :( HANDSS

  • I love the lens flare and plastic wrap effects at the end. I've been noticing those effects in the final comics, too.

  • Holy... That's amazing, Driscoll. I'm never complaining about how there isn't a concise update schedule again. You put so much love and thought into each comic... it's beautiful. And you can make music! You should put up some download links. I'd pay money for these tunes, if you want! XD

  • wow. very impressive!

  • Driscoll making awesome comics and awesome tunes? Next we'll find out you can cook and do your own laundry.

  • Awesome!

  • I know it isn't, but it looks so easy when shown that fast.

  • More like Driscool!

  • Wow, that's amazing.

  • Awesome and fascinating. Thank you so much for sharing this!

  • That was easily one of the most interesting things I've watched in a long time. Great composition on the tunes as well; they remind me a little of Collapse Under The Empire or 65daysofstatic. Something else too, but I can't think of it right now.

    Great job, Driscoll.

  • Wow. That's pretty darn amazing, Driscoll.
