There is obviously a demand for it. If you wish others to know of more human ways to rid themselves of (pests in general) Post a video up yourself showing humane and effective ways to rid your home of mice. Id gladly watch it.

You can drive mice away by strategically placing cotton balls soaked in peppermint oil around your home. And you can prevent mice from entering your home in the first place by sealing small openings. Don't leave dog and cat food out for long periods of time. Store dry foods in glass, metal, or ceramic containers rather than paper or plastic bags. Search PETA's website for more information!

This makes me want to cry...I had a pet mouse when I was a little girl. He was a brown field mouse and he was the sweetest pet I've ever had, next to my labrador! Thats saying something! He never bit me and he loved to play like any friendly animal. He lived a long life, and I wish the rest of these little mice and rats could have as well. And the birds? I love birds :'( poor things.

The kitten stuck just makes me want to throw up. I could not live without my cats.

Mice make use of resources, if they are given them! They can spend ALL DAY building a home and making a bed inside. They are also better mothers then the human mother. Take a look around, who are the ones overpopulating. If a mouse has babies in overcrowded conditions she will eat the newborns and won't let them suffer in misery. I think you are missing the point. It isn't about rodent extermination as a whole because it is obviously required, it is about the method. And with all the methods we have, we shouldn't use torture as one of them.

You seem to be applying humaneness to how low (or high) on the scale the animal is as a potential disease vector. If you're going to base your ethics on that, then your logic dictates that we should not treat humans humanely because their diseases have caused more suffering and death than any other disease vector.

My point is, you should not be extra cruel just because something has disease as it is indirect and the animal is unaware that it is carrying it around and causing grief.

I don't see how glue traps are worse than other traps. At least this way they are allowed more time to live. Even if it isn't much of a life, it is still a life right? the difference (in my opinion, im not trying to offend anyone) is that the mice are allowed to live a natural life at least. their life might be just as long as in the wild, or it might be drastically shorter, but in the end its more important to me that i didn't kill them. i'd rather leave things the way they are and not cause more pain than necessary.

I used to have mice and hooded rats as pets when I was a kid. In the wild they can carry diseases yes. But handling domesticated rats proved to me that they are smart, thinking, and feeling with a strong sense of bonding and nurturing. If you are going to use a lethal trap due to the fear of rabies etc. Please use instant death traps. The big spring traps snap the neck or crush the head and they die instantly. Everything dies but What kind of a death would YOU want? Instant or slow and painful?
