you can find gold almost anywhere. i have panned it out of my backyard dirt. it is not always a lot, but there is very fine gold dust in most dirt.

@TheDomtar It is a very small amount usually but just scoop up a handful of dirt and when you get down to the black sand you usually see a little gold dust in there. It fluctuates depending where you are. It is very hard to get rich prospecting though. I am no expert, but I have heard that full time prospectors usually don't make enough to sustain themselves.

25mins to pan that? You need a Garrett Super Sluice pan. I can get down to gold with less concentrate than you had remaining in your pan in under a minute, and be really vigorous with it... and it doesn't lose gold. This pan holds the panning record for 11sec to process a pan, apparently! Cheers - Rob in Oz
