A testament to how much the Gurkhas are respected throughout the world lies in the fact that even the US military schools teach their students about the Gurkhas. My Grandad used to tell me epic stories about them in WW2 and the only other unit of the Brit Army which is not underestimated is probably the SAS. Your correct. It was the Labour Government of the time who offended not only the Gurkhas but the Brit public too when they wouldn't allow the older ones to stay. Any serving Gurkha after 1997 can automatically stay although it didn't apply to the older vets. What happened was that the public got together with the celeberaties and Media and the Government had to back down. This is not satisfactory tho, we still want an answer as to why it was ever an issue in the fucking first place...
