  • 'Marriage' is a concept from the middle ages whereby a husband took a wife (and vice versa). Despite some peoples fervent desire to appropriate the concept for their own ends, they can not be permitted to. What they CAN do, and must be permitted to, is to avow their love and pledge (as conventional married couples do) and be treated the same. To use the word is counter-productive to their cause. It's like white people demanding to be called black, just because they came out of africa once.

  • @stevoid99 See the problem with this argument is hetero's only believe "marriage" is between man & woman because thats the tradition they've been taught. But like most traditions, Marriage can evolve. Marriage isnt about what gender connects with whom, its about two people affirming their love for one another. When we start saying "this is what was done in the middle ages" or a specific reference of time we forget the importance of progression.

  • @stevoid99 Gays using the title "Marriage" is no more or less important than a black man/white man being given equal opportunity when looking for a job. Tolerance is a two-way street, remember that...

  • my whole view on this is that they will be better off going after civil unions which can be done today and fight for the term marriage afterwards.

  • @smoothbrother69 your missing the point though. Gays are not hung up on labels, its the benefits their after.

  • @xKingKong62x That is why they should go after civil unions which will be much easier for them to get then marriage which will be a much harder fight for them.

  • @smoothbrother69 Again, I say labels are not the issue. Gays will not find piece trying to push forward an agenda under a label. Its about the benefits. Obama will not support giving benefits to any kind of relationships other than hetero's. Therefore the only solution lies within equal rights.

  • @xKingKong62x Benefits are what gays will get with civil unions. Benefits are what civil unions are about. Benefits that are given through civil unions are what the country is ready for. But by pushing marriage they are taking away benefits that homosexual couples want.

  • @smoothbrother69 Ask any homosexual you know if they get any benefits through calling their relationship a civil union. The only thing "civil union" is good for is the label. If they got the benefits they were looking for under the label "civil union", there would not be a discussion about what their relationship is called... Mainstream only chooses to acknowledge the fact that same-sex couples exist. Not the fact that they wish to have equal rights..Thats all a "civil union" is good for.

  • @xKingKong62x what cant they get with a civil union that they cant get with a marriage?

  • @smoothbrother69 I just told you. Benefits. Civil Union is only about the label.

  • @xKingKong62x No you need to look up what a civil union is. Civil unions are legal contracts that give you the benefits of marriage without being called a marriage. do a search for civil unions before you comment on this.

  • @smoothbrother69 Civil Union - a relationship between a same-sex couple that is legally recognized by a state authority and has the rights and responsibilities of marriage. ^^Theres your definition of Civil Unions. That being said, your still getting hung up on labels... If Same-Sex couples got all the benefits that Hetero couples get with marriage, the label would not be the issue. Obama dont recognize Same-Sex couples as a valid relationship which is why they dont have the benefits.

  • @smoothbrother69 Also if this is supposedly true, then why not trade marriage to Same-Sex couples & give Heteros Civil Unions here in America??

  • @xKingKong62x that would not make sense why would u change a tradition just to make a point about civil unions. Lets stay with what is practical and real. you give civil unions to gays they will have all the benefits and most of America will accept it but if you try to get a marriage then most of America will not accept it and it will be a long time before gays will be able to get any benefits because like i said before the quest for marriage has more to do with label and acceptance.

  • @smoothbrother69 Well wait a minute. Who decides what the tradition is for everybody in a free country? It was a tradition to hunt your food, now you just goto the grocery store. It was a tradition to ride horseback, now we have automobiles. It was a tradition to put leeches on your body when you were sick, now we have pharmaceuticals.

  • @smoothbrother69 Traditions have been changed for the better many times, (its called evolution :-) ) and marriage should not be an exception. Same-Sex couples are not looking for a label to define their relationship. Their looking for equal rights amongst their Hetero brethren. People need to take their ego out of allowing equality for all, because thats what this country was founded upon.

  • @xKingKong62x what cant they get in a civil union that they could get in a marriage?

  • @smoothbrother69 Equality.

  • @xKingKong62x explain?

  • @smoothbrother69 Watch my video.

  • @xKingKong62x evolution? EVOLUTION!? THAT WORD IS BLASPHEMY! ... lol just kidding buddy. You are right, evolution evolves around everything no matter the religion ^_^ even the bible itself has be re-written countless times so not even they have a right to say hope people should feel.

I SUPPORT ALL THE RIBBONS!!! ... PINK, RED, YELLOW, CAMO, ECT, ECT!!!... AND YES!!!... EVEN RAINBOW!!! bWAHAHAHAAA!!!

  • Agreed completely. This whole brouhaha over same sex marriage is ridiculous. Attraction isn't a choice. Of course one can't derive an ought from an is, but there's simply no good reason to be denying equality, opportunity, and happiness based on the arbitrary reason that Bob likes John instead of Jane or Heather likes Hannah instead of Harry.

  • So is this guy in the video not gay?

Perhaps he's not trying hard enough.

  • The guy at 1:30 needs to realize everyone is female originally :) Only testosterone and estrogen create the sexes. Just check the scientific facts of fertilization.

  • That man at 1:33 defeated his own argument in the same sentence in which he was presenting it. If he is the enemy we haven't much of a battle ahead.

  • @preptimenow I respect Dennis Prager's argument. My problem is this, what if you believe in evolution for issues like same-sex marriage?

  • @xKingKong62x You haven't a clue as to what you've stated.

  • @iamspid3rman at last a black man who makes sense regarding his opinion on gay marriage. FINALLY!

  • @Tsuruta1 @Sam023 @prayforthegaycure @TaneishaRed1990 @Lisztnut @JenniferBuddington At last an intelligent young black male who speaks the TRUTH about gay marriage! HOORAY! AT LAST! Mission accomplished. This young man is the wisest young black male I have yet to encounter on youtube. I am happy now! By the way, you left out Iowa as the fifth state to legalize gay marriage.

  • @KwameOkoampaAhoofem To my understanding, It is being overturned in Iowa.

  • @xKingKong62x actually, you are wrong (thankfully). There was an attempt to overturn it in Iowa, but they unfortunately would have to have two sessions of their legislature agree to this, and this is highly unlikely. However, the terrible thing is that the voters in Iowa removed three Supreme Court judges at the ballot box because of their support for gay marriage. It's a sad day when people do such a thing as "vindication" for their support of equality. You impress me very much. Thank you!

  • @KwameOkoampaAhoofem Kool Beens! Well all is good with that issue then.

  • @xKingKong62x you are my newest hero young man! I have been telling people about you today, and we think you deserve a lot of credit for being a straight man to stand up for gay rights. I hope your life is richly blessed.

  • @xKingKong62x Here is what I found out about Iowa. I was correct:

The Republican-controlled House has already passed an anti-marriage amendment, and GOP leaders say they're not interested in letting this bill get out of committee. It's equally unlikely that the Democrat-controlled Senate would let it come up for a vote either, given the leadership's belief that the bill is unconstitutional. But the mere introduction of such a bill goes to show how far marriage opponents are willing to go.

  • @xKingKong62x so, gay marriage is secure in Iowa for the time being. It is very difficult to get two consecutive sessions of any legislature to agree on an issue as divisive as this. And, the fact that the Republicans are unwilling to let it proceed is a good sign. I understand why it is easy to get confused on this, because you might read in the press: "Iowa legislative committee votes to ban gay marriage" and you think it's all over, when this is just the beginning of a committee.

  • @xKingKong62x I recently had a quasi-argument with a supporter of gay marriage in New York state. He was convinced that gay marriage was on the ballot soon and that New Yorkers would be voting on it. It's not true. New York has a law which forbids civil rights issues, such as gay marriage, from being on the ballot. DC has the same statute, as you might know. Therefore the "vote" he was confused about was the legislature's vote, not the general electorate.

  • I think tax cuts and benefits as such should be taken away from any civil union... then it won't matter who shacks up with who

  • @rickrocker Explain..

  • @xKingKong62x Who care's about what others are doing? It doesn't effect me. But my taxes effect me. I'm single and get beat up on taxes every year because of it. People who are married with dependents get tax cuts for their decisions to have families... It's not fair. One of the biggest arguments that 'equal' rights activists use is that they want to share in "equal" benefits. That's what it is all about. I say, get rid of the government intervention and make it equal.

  • @rickrocker And how would you go about pushing that forward?

  • @xKingKong62x Become a bankster or big corporation and buy the government,

  • @xKingKong62x young man, you are very wise. You get my respect and admiration for understanding this issue as few people understand it in America!

  • @KwameOkoampaAhoofem Thanks!! Really appreciate the support.

  • congrats dude are you getting married to a dude ?

    :D

  • @sweetypie000 No. Im hetero-sexual.

  • I love how that guy says I'm identical to a black, yellow, red. Uhm... no you're not. You are a different color. ONLY that, but you are still a different color. double standard much? haha he made me laugh.

I like your Take on this.

  • @Anteaterdance Dennis Prager has some great points on this issue. But his problem is his logic only represents those who dont think outside the box. Civil Marriage doesnt require religious interaction, therefore theres nothing to redefine.

  • @xKingKong62x I haven't seen much by him, but true, I'm sure he would acknowledge that color, by definition is a visual quality. :P Those arguments just made me giggle.(maybe that's an immature take?)

I liked how you broke it down by simple definition- (And the fact that the definitions are not all the same)

You may disagree, but his arguments seemed to parallel almost to a T the exact argument he was trying to refute. Thanks for responding! : )

  • Sexuality is a continuum. I do agree that everyone is born the same. Born bisexual, we all develop a certain preference over the course of our lives. The potential to love everyone is inside of all of us. Some may prefer one sex or another, and that isn't based on the sex of the individual, but on the sex that the personally are attracted to.
