Can everybody STFU about anime? Yes, there are fantastic anime shows and movies, and I am a fan some some myself. However, while LastestUFOSightings worded it poorly, he/she may have on point that anime in some ways has eclipsed and blinded people to other countries that produce animation, like Russia. So please, just enjoy this short film.

This film is not based on a Russian fairytale but on a story by a wonderful Russian writer Sergey Kozlov. For those who are interested there is a Wiki article in Russian
that's right. Him fairytale is very touching. especially about bear and hedgehog, when little bear was die... hedgehog assuaged him and promised, than will be pour him and in spring he restore to life, like tree after winter...
We all spend our lives in the fog searching for this horse (our hopes and dreams) but he only found fear and despair. But we should just let the river (life) carry us along. The thing in the pond represents the kind strangers in our lives who help us so much but remain anonymous. Even when the hedgehog is with his friend which cares about him so much, he cant stop thinking about the horse in the fog. The hedgehogs little adventure represents our lives. But then im only 16, wat do i know of life?

Also, the difference between this and most anime is that this is like a short story and anime is like a novel (or a series of them). Different, but each with its own charm.
It is a philosophical little tale. Don't you feel sometimes like a lost hedgehog wondering through fog? And then "Someone" helps you to find your way home, and you are happy to share a simple joy (like raspberry jam) with your best friend, who truly worries about you and needs you. It is touching, really. The author of this tale Serge Kozlov died today. Rest in peace.
this is like the sweetest little story in the worls i love that it's in russian with subtitles the hegehog is so timid and his concern for the beautiful horse is touching everyone will get something from it thank you so much for sharing it with me

For example, I like that you chose "what a weirdo" and not "psycho" which would have been a direct translation, but really sounds a lot more harsh in english...

yes, perhaps you're right. translating somebody's work isn't as easy as it seems. It got me thinking about how to translate it right, LOL. Can't get my mind off it! I'm not sure about it being creepy, when i was little it used to make me feel melancholic rather than "creeped out" (not a word either). Thanks for your reply! :)
Shouldn't the last line be translated as: He thought about the horse, and how she was there, in the fog. My Russian isn't very strong so I'm not sure. Can anyone help me out?
Sorry matey, the final line's not correct in English, so it can't be correctly translated. As it's written without "", it must be reported thought, so HOW SHE IS, would have to be HOW SHE WAS (in keeping with the rules of reported language). If it's meant to be HOW SHE IS, then there should be "" around it.
Sorry matey, the English isn't correct so the translation can't be correct either. There are no "" around the final line, so it must be reported thought. HOW SHE IS would have to change to HOW SHE WAS in keeping with the rules of reported language. If it's meant to read HOW SHE IS, then there needs to be "".
in Soviet Union, the Paint was toxic, it created hallucinogenic effects on animators. Thats when they got hight and drew psychedelic cartoons like this one!! ))

Shouldn't the last line be translated as: He thought about the horse, and how she was there, in the fog. My Russian isn't very strong so I'm not sure. Can anyone help me out?
malcolmjohnmcneill 3 years ago
no actually subtitles are totally correct in that line :))
