@FireArmsResQ It's considered a supermoto bike. Street tires, and a street suspension setup, and street legal. These bikes will beat a 600 or 1000 around a tight track :) Wish I still had it! Sold it because my mom decided she wouldn't have me riding on the road, and the things just don't work well off-road because of the street tires and suspension. When I turn 18 I'm buying another lol.
I haven't gotten bored with it yet. It's got pretty good bottom end. Yesterday I was riding, and just for kicks I put it in 2nd gear going about 10mph, then opened it up, it really didn't have much of any hesitation and just powered through it. I'm sure it has more than enough to satisfy a beginner. But you have to remember it isn't all about the power, small 250s like this are great fun on really curvy roads.
Hey Forrest, I really like your bike. Is it the first you have ridden, or was it a step up from a smaller (maybe dirt-) bike? Would you say it is a good bike for a new rider?
It's my third. I had a 70cc suzuki dirtbike, then a 100cc kawasaki before this. Both 2 strokes. I started when I was around 7 years old. I would say this is a very good beginner bike for somebody your age. It has a very neutral riding position, and it wont throw you off the back if you dump the clutch. Also it is very reliable and low maintenance, so you can focus on riding rather than working on it.
I would recommend this over a ninja 250. The ninja is a great bike, but it has a lot of plastic that will break in a crash, and be very expensive to replace. The wr250x on the other hand, does not. Plus you can put what's called frame sliders on it very easily, they are plastic tubes that protect the important parts of the bike in a crash. You can see them at the beginning of the video.
I do not have a problem with the height because i have a 34 in seam pant size and i'm 5'11, and the bike has been lowered. I can touch the ground with both feet flat, and still have my legs bent slightly.
Fun fact, this bike will beat a ninja 250 in a drag race.
Actually I am 6' 2" also with a 34 inseam, so it sounds perfect for me. I'll check them out, but it probably won't be my first bike just because I can't afford it. My dad's friend is a motorcycle mechanic who I am making a deal with to get an old UJM to ride around on.
Yeah I understand that, we got a pretty decent deal on it used from I guy that needed to sell it. It's always a good idea to check out local classifieds. You never know what you will find
Just took a closer look at them, and it turns out the first owner just drilled holes in the handguards, and used matching hardware to make it look like factory job. He did pretty good :D, but it makes it nearly impossible to tell where they came from. They look like some sort of mirror you would put on a dually's mirrors so you can see around a trailer better.
Sweet man! Is it dual purpose? Street Legal Dirt Bike?
No way in fuck I own one of these in Southern California. Too may bad drivers =P

Are those off road tires? They dont look like street tires . .

@damwhodat3 They are more on road tires than off road. Off road they suck, on road they are decent.

Be warned though, this bike is tall.

I'm not really sure. We bought the bike used with all the mods already on it. the hand guards are Zeta xc, that's all i can tell you.
