Jon, I hope you did get to travel on the EPIC. It was a "wow" experience! I was able to travel in August of 2010 and I enjoyed every minute of it. I actually was on the 'Maiden Voyage' of NCL's DAWN - A Christmas Cruise... that was out of this world! I do hope to go one the GEM this coming November.

@Vessel87 Shes quite large indeed, 1,003 feet long. A freak wave actually damaged the Norwegian Dawn, and I sailed on the cruise right after, only suffering some broken windows and minor cabin/hallway damage that was repired quickly.

@coolbeans1216 I didn't know If I was technically allowed to film, but security saw me filming and said nothing. I don't think that you will have a problem as long as you don't folm in the terminal and only focus on the ships.

@MitchFisch12 I did not sail on this ship, but the lines probably get longer at te height if the day, based on my cruise experience, the best time to go is right when they open.

The Epic's size is 155,800 gross tons. This makes the ship second largest cruise ship in the world. The Oasis is 225,282 gross tons. That is 45% larger than the Epic. Both ships are beautiful in my opinion. Royal Carribean's Independence class is barely smaller at 154,000 gross tons.

The length of the Epic is 1080 ft

the Independence class is 1112 ft

the Oasis and Allure are 1187 ft

@beyondonethousand QM2 is still longer, and wider than the Epic, NCL said at first Epic was 153,000, and all of the sudden its 155,800, Independence is 154,000-160,000. I still like the Epic better than Oasis and Allure, and Independence, Epic is in my opinion better.

I just came back from a FREE cruise on the epic ( won a contest) TODAY! I thought the ship and the KONE elevators were Spectacular! My Favorite elevator on this ship was the glass express elevator from 15-18. Not to mention, the Blue Man Group was Awesome! ( A little bonus, I rode up a 1996 schindler MT elevator in the Miami Seaport terminal, and rode a 1996 Schindler escalator down, when I left the ship. I also passed a 1990 Montgomery elevator when I left the ship.)
