In Fact is was not so insane, in fact Sameone Saved My Life in 1975 was a copy of your's in 1974! So just a year...Elton was here at his best in middle 70*ies (do not mention 1976 what a Disco Period
Wooooooah....Talk about Deep..this alone is a very good take on the song, makes you stop, if only for a moment and think about it. I like both versions, but i prefer Elton's compared to the Beatles mainly because its to much High squeaking then i would care to hear.
I remember when we used to drive by my elementary school at night to this song when I was six, thinking that there were vampires inside. Has a haunting quality to it
Wow, drugs do a lot to your body...i think it's so funny...myself, i never have done drugs never will..hahaha wow..70's was all about drugs and crazy stuff. love it..i guess. ahaha. peace man. xD
Takes me back to 1st grade 74-75 school year, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas. Man, those were the days, Rock and Sock Em Robots and Tyco racing sets
Great song, sadly this song isn't as well known compared to his classic hits of that era and I even prefer this version over the Beatles (sorry Beatles fans)
Great vid! Mesmerizing, and one of my fave songs too. I agree with what you said about enjoying the psychedelicness of this vid instead of playing with dangerous chemicals. I've never done any drugs, but have heard people rave about their LSD experiences. I once read in a book about The Vedas, that the trip they get with that is a glimpse of what's possible in the spiritual realm-like looking through the window of a beautiful house, but not going inside.
i love this freaking video so much i think its super duperly awesome!... today is christmas, y ay!!!! a few hours of sleep, then coffee then its time for presents1!!
Yes, Elton's version is better...it is the only Beatles song that I would say that about. Usually its the Beatles version of any song that is heads and tails better but Elton and John did a remarkable version of this. Lennon's superb reggae guitar is simply amazing.
One of my favorite songs. I like the bells you hear in the first verse get distorted in later verses. you still hear the bell but gets taken over by a buzzing sound. In the last verse you don't hear the bell at all, you hear just the buzzing sound.
Oh come man, its obvious the beatles were awesome, but John is a recognized musical genius. This version is quite emblematic of prodigenous talent, however, I don't think John could ever had came up with such music and lyricsby himself. Thats something very unique to beatles and no less amazing!
John Lennon himself said that he preferred this version over the Beatle version. It was more like what he intended the original to sound like. It is still the only cover of a Beatle song to go to #1 on the Billboard chart, Lennon had a big part in making that happen singing backup and playing reggae guitar.
ok thindude this is not better than the beatles....this is a great version. not better, though. elton has earned a right to cover the beatles. but doing it better than the beatles? no sir. nobody does it better than the real deal..the beatles
i dont know if yo do psychedelics or not, but i had one really good acid trip, and the visuals from 1:23-1:33 are exactly what i was seeing much of the time, i thought it was astounding, almost as if you were able to take a screen shot of what i was seeing.
@desensitized12 I try to do the least drugs I can. You should do the same, by watching this vid to get high instead of ruining your body and your life, mate. ;P

This song was always on our portable radio and I remember as we listened to it, totally stoned, we really believed that the bus could magically take us to England! Darn it, it never did; we'd get off the bus and there was grubby old Illinois. But listening to this song we really believed the miracle could happen, lol!
I haven't commented for months but just letting you know i'm still a regular listener and i still say not many (if any) artists can cover any Lennon/MCcartney song successfully but Elton certainly has with his version of this - brillant
The year was "1975." Many of the world's most talented musicians were in their primes. "Manilow," "Carmen," and "Steward," to name a few. But by the time the Caribou sessions ended in Boulder, Elton John had already solidified himself as rock and roll's greatest musician of all time. "It was finished," but Elton wasn't finished. He still had another 35 years of legendary recordings to come. John Lennon knew how great he was. Lennon said Elton was the next best thing he's seen since the Beatles.
