  • Backed by Booker T and the MGs. I think this is the stax records tour in Europe. Otis Redding really rocked at this concert. I wish i could have been born back then to witness all the great music that came out in the 60's.

  • @SpaceBambino - they moved into the White House ...... you racist asshole ...... while the white boys were stealing billions from the middle-class and moving into prison.

Thanks for ruining the video, you fuckwit. Must have took you a long time creating new accounts and coming back here day after day to give yourself all those thumbs up. You're pathetic.

  • @ApocalypsePlough honeybunny, i left that message a while ago and people seem to agree with said statement (actually, never had a comment so highly rated before or since). why? perhaps because they felt, like me, that this wonderful, joyous, harmless and timeless piece of fantastic music has a more positive message than, say, lil wayne, and it's a better work of art than, say, soulja boy. if you think that is better than classic soul and r&b, well that's your opinion, and youre entitled to it.

  • @ApocalypsePlough on another subject, it seems you're quite a naive person, the sort of well-intentioned, overly-emotional folk that makes PC a justification for censorship. the type that follows the flawed, simplistic logic of what you have seemed to (mis)understand about the tolerance and integration speech commonplaces. my comment was one regarding merely art & music, if anything else (well perhaps clothing, wouldn't we all love to see popstars dress so sharply nowadays?)

  • @Apocalypseplough on another hand, if you think c. powell and c. rice where in the white house to protect the interests of the poor & needed, just because they were black -even when they were supporting those terrible wars or any of the ill-conceived atrocities of the bush administration (or obama's war in afghanistan and bombings in libya for that matter), then you're a helpless moron and you can kindly go fuck yourself. and please, be quiet while youre at it, so we can enjoy mr conley's work.

  • @SpaceBambino - I was talking about Obama being president. An historical moment in America if there ever was one. I'm not talking about rap singers.

You took the video of a legendary song, & you politicized it, because it was sung by a black man. You did that, not me. Your comment is first because you kept coming back giving yourselves thumbs up. How is it possible that someone would search this song out & then give a thumbs up to your comment? Notice most other posts here are "thumbless."

  • Lastly, given the state of pop music today, why aren't you asking "oh white America, what ever happened to you?"

Were you over in Rebecca Black's "Friday" video posting that? I doubt you were. I'll take rap music over the totally devoid of substance piece of white pop shit that is "Friday" any day.

  • @ApocalypsePlough i'm terribly sorry. i'm terribly sorry that i devoted 15 mins of my time to you, as you were not willing or able to understand not only simple arguments, but the mere dynamic of youtube. it is almost as if you kept responding to your anger rather than to what i wrote, because all you did was prove my assertions right. im sorry to say this, but a bright person you are not. please do not reply to this message, because if you do, i won't. & do try to be more reflexive in real life

  • @SpaceBambino - this is YouTube, baby.

Don't make a post if you don't want to be called on it.

People are still responding to posts I made over a year ago.

I have no problem with that.

And, no, I'm responding to what YOU wrote. You politicized a video by a man simply because he was black.

    And you won't admit it.

And, don't tell me not to respond to something you posted. This isn't Communist China. If you make a post, I have the right to respond. It's called freedom of speech. Truth must hurt.

  • @SpaceBambino uhhh it pushed music forward and made up some 4 more genres that have had huge influence worldwide?? if you can't appreciate the fact that "black america" innovated and didn't stick around to make the music YOU happen to like for all eternity, then that's your problem.

  • @schizoidchimp Well to be fair, "white" music sucks big time too now. If anything, it's slab of rock went a decade or so longer but it's garbage now just the same.

  • @Greg2600 you know, there are tons of amazing music being made right now.In fact it's so much that I almost don't have the time to listen to it all. it's all about knowing where to look.

  • @SpaceBambino I say we burn the rap cds instead of the disco

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing

    I second that!!

  • @SpaceBambino

    the beatles....

  • I always wonder who the first person to bob their head to some good tunes was, and what the music was like haha

  • I can see why Otis felt pressured by this guys live performances

  • i wish we got more soul music like that in the 2000's

  • I would give anything to have been at this concert

  • we haft to come back to this. it doesn't even haft to be the music style, it could just be the energy, the instruments, or even the passion.

  • Oh yes, I like it Arthur.

  • He Taking It To Church lolz

  • After the death of Otis Arthur Conley went to Holland to live the rest of his life in Ruurlo. I think he even took another name.

  • The first time I heard this song I was 15 or 16 and it was on Miami Vice, and wheew it grabbed me. This music is the best, I like it more than rock.

  • It's wonderful to see Hendricks and this was one of the greatest performances. I'm from New Orleans and folks look at us strange when we dance and get down, but in New Orleans we just know how to get down with the beat. He gave 150% on stage and left sweat on the stage when he finished. That's pure ENTERTAINMENT!!! Thanks for the video.

  • @Sangria3 HendriX was on for less than a second at the beginning, he isn't on this song, it was the previous song

  • PURE ENERGY!!!!!!!!!

  • soul music i miss it sooooo much

  • this is the "second" greatest backup band in the history of music...Booker T and the MGs...Only second to Motown's Funk Brothers.

  • @flewbyu357 - Imo any band that James Brown had is better than those two bands.

  • ahhh the days when black guys could sing now we got all this stupid new rap hip hop r&b nursery ryhmes

  • I think that a medic should check the audience for any signs of a pulse, before it`s too late!!!!!!!!!! lol

  • Henley65, you my friend, you hit the nail on the head. I think by this audience are suffering from rigor mortis and are waiting for the pathologist to arrive to check the cause of death. Disgusting to see this singer giving 180% music with feeling and soul and these personification of boredom sit there without showing any form of emotions. If I am not mistake Jimi Hendricks is on the left, at the beginning of this video he must have felt horrible. Your comment had me ROTFL !!!!

  • lol ; )

  • Cut them some slack, jack, they're Norweigan. They never saw anything like this before and they are in shock....culture shock.

  • I'll take your word for it!!!

  • This man`s blood group is R&B positive!!!! Totally awesome!

  • What happened to the back up singers? Dang!

  • Fantastic!

  • isn't that donald duck dunn on guitar?

  • Yes, it is Donald "Duck" Dunn on bass, Steve Cropper on lead guitar, Booker T. Jones on keyboards, Al jackson on drums, which you know to be, Booket T & The MG's. Also the Mar-Keys are playing the horn section I believe, Wayne Jackson on trumpet, Andrew Love on sax and Floyd Newman on sax also. Amazing singer is Arthur and amazing band backing him.

  • On this video the guitarist is Jimi Hendricks you forgot to mention that. Check him out on the left at the beginning of the video.

  • That's the JimiHhendrix Experience in the 1st few seconds. The guitarist with Conley is Steve Cropper.

  • @smokeyvelvet42 that was the previous song, and it's HendriX check it out

  • AMAZING SONG!!!

  • @nikonn87 what is 'noobish' ?

    I don't understand

  • It's Booker T and the MG's, plus the Memphis Horns from the 1967 Staz european tour.

  • It is Book, but the horns are the Stax group called the Mar Keys

  • Spotlight On James Brown Y'all!!

    Yeahhh Yeahhh

  • Is that Duck Dunn & Steve Cropper in the band?

  • Springsteen just played this 5 minutes ago live at MSG in NYC!

  • @somethingididlongago Regrettable.

  • Sweet Soul music,canny beat it !!

  • i feel good now hangover cure sorted

  • what energy respect to athur conley now!

im a white guy but only a black man can pull this song off respect
