@kocface It depends on the CO's rank and mission, lieutenants and captains can be seen in the battlefield. Everyone from the rank of major and above will most likely not be in a mission in the frontline unless they specifically want to or for some other reason.
all COs i've served under were selfish pricks that almost got me killed multiple amount of times and still got a medal for it. the only ones that took care of me and saved my life were the NCOs.
@lightemup I hear this alot. although I'm not a soldier, I do know something about Leadership. I have a few questions. How were the CO's Selfish Pricks? Did ther lead from the front and by example or not at all? When and where did you serve.
Just to let you know I mean no disrespect I just want to know the difference between CO's and NCO's.
@ductuslupus87 I served from 2001 to 2009. Did tours in Iraq. I've had a few honorable COs (usually former NCOs), but majority stayed in the rear, gave us useless missions and never lead by example. NCOs worked their way up and lead by example (although there are cases of dumbass NCOs too). Let's just say that my platoon almost got killed in an ambush, we earned certain medals and the officer in the rear put himself in for a higher one and received it. Yes, he recommended HIMSELF.
@lightemup RECOMMENDED HIMSELF? The worthless shit. Pricks Like that Don't even deserve to wear the uniform. let alone lead - or lack thereof - soldiers like you and experinced NCOs. One of the most cornerstone traits in leadership is "ductus exemplo" lead by example. He couldn't even do that. How did he get past the commission board?
He didn't deserve you or the NCO's. WHAT PRICK I glad you got back home. Carry on soldier.
