Wow, I thought the max was at 9999 since the highest amount of rings I've ever gotten was 1358... I guess it's true, the more rings you have the faster you run. That was fast! I also didn't know that there was respawning rings either...

Nope. There was never a limit on the number of Rings one can carry to begin with in this game.
