A very nice little film about how there were so many ideas for inventions by muslim scholars that led to many inventions, but Im actually wondering how many ideas that were only thought of but never passed on....and later thought of by other peoples and finally invented...just because muslim scholars thought of these ideas doesnt mean that every scholar in the world had read them and used those ideas.... still I thought it was brilliant ,and Ben Kingsleys performance was exceptional as always

Thinking of an idea like how an image can be layed out for people to see as time flies is ingenious, but actually inventing the idea that will later be used especially in the modern world is extraordinary- Ibn Al-Haytham (invented and layed out the idea of the camera)! What's sad to know, is the fact that these golden ages are named "the dark ages", and those brilliant minded inventors weren't even credited at all for their ideas/inventions- someone else get their ideas and are known to history.

Do you think it's because they take a literal approach to the teachings of the Koran? I do know that many Western political advancements occurred after the period of Enlightenment, which advocated the use of reason (not religion) in matters of science and industrialism.  Is this why you think the Muslims have been surpassed?

Hezarfen is believed to have carried out his attempts at flight in the 17th century, so he was about 700 years AFTER ibn Firnas.
