Your entirely wrong, I recognise that sunspots can be vast; larger than the surface area of Jupiter even, but you seem to be forgetting that the earth is not in a stationary position. A vast sunspot appears on the surface of the sun, in around 170 days we'll be on the other side from it. Sunspots can slide along the surface of the sun, but the chances of one moving in exact synchronisation with the earth are... well really fucking big. Only that could explain sustained change.

It's not about if the world is going to warm up because as you said the Earth is always warming and cooling, the problem is the time span. Yes CO2 isn't the main greenhouse gas like H2O, but it is the rate at which it is increasing. With it increasing at the speed it is now then eco systems will be destroyed and lost! You're correct - plants can only take a certain amount of CO2. However, we're nowhere near that limit. In fact, we are well below the optimal level for plants. We're currently at about 380ppm and the optimal level for plants is 1200-1500 ppm - so, 3-4x the current level.
As the CO2 levels increase, expect plants to do slightly better (and absorb more CO2).
Global warming is real. It's here for now, but don't forget global cooling is also very real and it will be back again soon. The sun is the main driving force in climate change. Man made global warming is a political and financial scam. Think about it. What does every person in the western world produce? Carbon. Make us feel bad about it so we will consent to a tax on it. It's IMPOSSIBLE to prove causality. Whatever the inaccuracy of the models (I don't put a whole lot of weight on their accuracy), quadrupling C02 in the atmosphere in 100-150 years, which is *exactly* what will happen if we don't make some changes, is guaranteed to have a *profoundly* negative effect on life on the planet.

The problem is that the current warming we're seeing isn't explained by the increase in CO2.
Also, you can't look at things "in a vacuum" - the global climate system a chaotic system. You can't predict the effect of a change in a single variable.
The warmest year was 1998 since then we have a Cooling problem. In ND where I live, in the last ten years the turn around time from planting to harvest is getting shorter and shorter (meaning cooling and unseasonable temps. The 25 below temps began in december and have had to have the heat on in the house as recently as yesterday (May 5th)!
I farm in Ontario, Canada. I couldn't even get on several fields till JUNE 6!!!!!! too mucky, tremendous snowmelt, cold winter & spring,extremely late frosts. you guy who are arguing about venus being hot because of CO2 being high should know that the CO2 on Venus comprises 96% approximately of the atmosphere that's about 95.7% higher than ours, CO2 has been shown again and again to increase when the earths temp goes up, and not the other way around, the world would be better with less pollution and ways to produce energy that less impacts the environment, but CO2, which is food for plants by the way, is not causing an environmental disaster.

A barrel floating in the ocean will grow a seaweed farm. It would be easy to create rainforest sized algae farms mid ocean. The seaweed farms would photosynthesize, as well as the lifeforms themselves would be made of carbon.
Cheap. Proactive. Harmless.

Your entirely wrong, I recognise that sunspots can be vast; larger than the surface area of Jupiter even, but you seem to be forgetting that the earth is not in a stationary position. A vast sunspot appears on the surface of the sun, in around 170 days we'll be on the other side from it. Sunspots can slide along the surface of the sun, but the chances of one moving in exact synchronisation with the earth are... well really fucking big. Only that could explain sustained change.

Sun spot cycle, in other words the Suns radiation fluctuates over about a 12 year cycle.
Regardless of the location of the earth and the sun, given the rotation of the sun, the earth will get a belt from sunspots.
This cycle is well known and is only one small factor in climate change along with many others which are not greenhouse gas related, like procession for example. the tilt of the earth

Water vapor, the gas, absorbs infrared in a band that is different from CO2. So, no matter the relative humidity, CO2 is catching infrared that water vapor cannot. I am not making this up. I swear. Wanna bet?
Also, CO2 can't just rain out of the atmosphere with a change in temperature or pressure found here. Rain does remove some CO2 from the air. It, then becomes carbonic acid.

It's still absorbing and retaining heat not absorbed by water vapor. Methane is more potent than CO2. It took a big jump in atmospheric concentration in 2008. CH4 is 20-25 times more powerful a GHG than CO2. The effect is cumulative.
Unlike H2O, CO2 and CH4 don't precipitate, they just keep increasing in concentration.

In the interim, the atmosphere was brought into the form that we, homo sapiens, evolved and developed civilization. Look at maps, that civilization is heavily weighted at the coasts.

It's not about if the world is going to warm up because as you said the Earth is always warming and cooling, the problem is the time span. Yes CO2 isn't the main greenhouse gas like H2O, but it is the rate at which it is increasing. With it increasing at the speed it is now then eco systems will be destroyed and lost! You can go on about how its all about money and some people are, but it doesn't make it less true...

seriously you never did chemistry at school did you. Plants can only take in a certain amount CO2. If they had too much CO2 they would die just the same with humans, you breathe in a lot of air or just breathe in oxygen you will start to feel light headed and if you carry on...die too. Thought it was common knowledge tbh

My point is that the co2 concentration in the air is not at dangerous levels but at normal levels. I believe the figure is .03 percent but I would have to recheck. This carbon tax is now being bruited about in Congress. Your little tail feathers will be affected too littlekid!!!!

You're correct - plants can only take a certain amount of CO2. However, we're nowhere near that limit. In fact, we are well below the optimal level for plants. We're currently at about 380ppm and the optimal level for plants is 1200-1500 ppm - so, 3-4x the current level.
As the CO2 levels increase, expect plants to do slightly better (and absorb more CO2).

In the 1800s, the level of carbon dioxide gas that was in the atmosphere was 290 parts per million. In 1960 the level of carbon increased to 315 part per million. In 2007 the level of carbon increased again to 382 parts per million. that is 92 ppm that it has increased in 2 centuries. Why because of human activity in burning fossil fuels and trees. Trees filter the air of carbon dioxide and relase carbon dioxide when burned, and fossil fuels realse carb dioxide as well

The problem with the global warming theory is that the science behind is not at all sound. The claim that CO2 is driving climate change is at best problematic and certainly unproved. The biggest problem with the claim is that global temperature and CO2 levels do not correlate as well as the AGW partisans would have us believe and even if they did correlate perfectly, there is the problem is demonstrating a causual relationship.

It's IMPOSSIBLE to prove causality. Whatever the inaccuracy of the models (I don't put a whole lot of weight on their accuracy), quadrupling C02 in the atmosphere in 100-150 years, which is *exactly* what will happen if we don't make some changes, is guaranteed to have a *profoundly* negative effect on life on the planet.

You're wrong. It *would* be possible to prove causality if we understood how the climate system worked well enough to accurately model it. I'm interested in your assertion that CO2 will "quadruple in the atmosphere in 100-150 years". How did you arrive at that figure? Perhap you did it by using the same methods that prognisticators have been using to make themselves look ridiculous for centuries: by taking current trends and extending them into the future... lol

The problem is that the current warming we're seeing isn't explained by the increase in CO2.
Also, you can't look at things "in a vacuum" - the global climate system a chaotic system. You can't predict the effect of a change in a single variable.

The warmest year was 1998 since then we have a Cooling problem. In ND where I live, in the last ten years the turn around time from planting to harvest is getting shorter and shorter (meaning cooling and unseasonable temps. The 25 below temps began in december and have had to have the heat on in the house as recently as yesterday (May 5th)!

I farm in Ontario, Canada. I couldn't even get on several fields till JUNE 6!!!!!! too mucky, tremendous snowmelt, cold winter & spring,extremely late frosts. (it's still cool).Last year was also terrible......You're right about NO global warming since 1998. The new millenium has been a cooler one globally & my farm is no exception.

Mountain Pine Beetles.......BC's lodgepole pine forests are mature because of forest fire suppression/control over the last few decades(naturally caused ,regularly occurring forest fires, suppress the beetles & prevent massive infestations). There have been several massive infestations in BC over the last century. .....whenever there's a series of mild winters, it helps the beetles survive).This is nothing new or unusual.

No, the 'science' behind eugenics wasn't sound. It postulated that the 'superior races' - ie, Europeans - were in danger of being swamped and diluted by the 'inferior' races - ie, non-Europeans. It was on these theories that the socio-political movement of Eugenics was based.
So the analogy is fair.

That's not what eugenics is. Broadly it is the idea that you can create a smarter/healthier/stronger/etc. population by only allowing the smartest/healthiest/strongest/etc. to breed. It works with livestock, it would work with humans.

Yes, but the 'Eugenics' he is making analogies with is not the broad idea you're referring to, but specifically the socio-political movement (early to mid 20th C) that postulated European supremacy was going to be dragged down by the 'inferior' races, as well as any criminals and mentally retarded people who were allowed to breed. It had broad support across the scientific community (a 'consensus', in fact) and was embraced by many, if not most, of the celebrities and politicians of the period.

Actually,it DOESN'T work with livestock.We narrow the genepool of a breed, in order to develop the characteristics that we need. But we OFTEN need to "borrow" genes from other breeds whenever a problem emerges,or our "needs" change.We don't "improve" cattle as a species....just break them up into separate breeds that have different characteristics.We still need that diverse genepool to allow for "improvement" or adaption to different circumstances. People are no different.(I raise beef cattle)
