First off, Great job. Looks like ya don't have much and yous did all you could. Constructive Criticism- try to get some PW's on your rig maybe? 5 gallons in the right hands can make a big diff. And that sucks that the county won't let you use their rigs. Do some research, go to the mtg's. Find out what you can do for them in exchange for that service..i dunno. Again, nice work!
Fully invovled?? deffinatley not. Not being rude or anything but, in my department, this would be an offnesive fire. First things first, 360!!! Most important thing for a first on scene unit. I would have made entry through the back or the side of the house, and contained the fire to that origin. Attacking it from the front is basically pushing the fire back into the house. But u did good with the limited resources you had.
the only thing i could say is do a 360 walk around to see what else you got. Then if there is a back door to the building go threw there to prevent pushing the fire threw the building.
Good job EMTSRT. Dont listen to the jerk offs double guessing you. You did a good job with what you had. You really did. There is absolutely no reason you cannot attack a house fire with a brush truck. If you have the experience you can do anything safely. Some so called firefighters out there like mister 2/20 would let someones home burn and let peole die because they would have to get out their NFPA book and read it first.
I was with a City Fire Department for 15 years before joining a Rural fire department, and I gotta say, the Rual guys are a lot more fun. Moving from the IAFF was the best thing I could have done. So I'm just a retired IAFF fire fighter from Portland Fire. Now a Volunteer here in Oregon
Good video - and good job with the limited equipment and water. Looking at the pre boarded up window, one appeared to have smoke damage above it; wondering had this shack burned before?
EMTSRT good job, did what you had to do with the tools you had. You didn't get over aggressive, stayed calm, as for the super firefighting god there, Kid is obviously a good firefighter knocked down the fire by himself, got what units he had responding to the scene and did what he had to do with the tools he had. If that's not a good firefighter I don't know what is. Emtsrt good work kid, don't pay any attention to that so called firefighter.
nice fire good knock down hard fire to get to prob couldn't get full sized engine or tanker in there and and as for the person who said there was no water supply estab well thats cause there prob wasn't one ..... most rural areas don't have hydrants and then the ones that do are lucky thats a city luxury
Not a very good firefighter. Didn't establish command, employ which side of the house was involved i.e. alfa side of the building was fully involved. Not a very good size up, and failed to give specific directions for incoming apparatus. Hasn't establish a water supply, or where to get it. I'm not trying to cut you down, I'm a firefighter in a rural area too, but there were mistakes you made. Other than that it's a nice video, and great job on inital takedown.
@Moseley883 so a firefighter ok....that says FIREFIGHTER on the shield and not chief, battalion chief ,assistant chief, deputy chiefor any other officer and from what i understand from what he said he was an EMT during this you dumb dolt! and im not a regular citizen acting like im a firefighter bcz i am a fireman
the call came in as a structure fire. I am employed by our county EMS service which is full time paid. The fire depts in this county are all volunteer. So I dont have the privledge of choosing to drive a fire truck to a fire. Even though they are in the same truck bay! It sucks but the county doesnt let us. Hope that clears it up why I went to a structure fire on a medical rig.
Did you recieve the call as a structure fire. If so why would you respond( first truck out ) with no tools on it? Do you have a pumper on your dept? Good knock down with a grass truck with limited water.
yes the ff's that made entry, including myself, had on SCBA. The crash rescue truck is full time. and the first truck had 500 gallons and the second one had 750.
The line I used on knock down was a 1-3/4" line from the first arriving brush truck. No there wasn't an Engine on scene nor was there one en route! Guys, this is very rural. This county is all volunteer! They do great with the equipment they have!
@EMTSRT let all those armchair firemen cry about what they want to. i say you did a dam good job with what you had. some of guys would rather let something burn while waiting on water truck, ladder trucks, tankers and all the rest instead of just putting the damm fire out. GOOD JOB
no turnout gear my friend??

Nice Knock down. That was with a forestry line correct?
awbaker8008 2 years ago
DId any fire engines show up to this fire outside of that forestry unit?
FirstDue 2 years ago
Calling it FULLY involved may have an exaggeration on my part. My bad! The truck I was on is a BLS crash rescue truck so, no, no firefighting tools.
