While gay people have the right to be married, that does not mean that religions or churches have to recognize that those people are "married" since it goes against their religion since you know, marriage is a religious thing, or it used to be and is supposed to be.

um...last time I checked, marriage was a religious ceremony. It has been made into a civil one over time. Mormons consider marriage to be sacred. People don't like it when their sacred stuff is messed with, just look at history. It's not a matter of violating rights. I am a mormon and I love gay people. But I believe that marriage is sacred and that it is between a man and a woman. So when it is used between a man and a man or a woman and a woman, it is messing with what I consider to be sacred.

i feel the need to say the other side of the story, not arguing, believe what you want who am i to say your wrong? but the reason the government cant let homosexuals get married is because our country was based on christian values and marriage is a church instituted process, and the protestant religion says that homosexuality is wrong. so, if they granted marriage to homosexuals than there would be such an uproar on the other side it would be a real problem.

(If the legal age is 18) Think 17- 19, 16-18 as being okay to date/marry if proven mature/informed enough. After legal age of consent of both parties, anything goes, no matter the age, they are considered adults legally at this time. That is the current rule anyway.
Couples should wait to have/adopt children until they finish schooling, or at a stable point in their lives, if possible for the sake of the children. This is just personal advice.

They are said to be "disordered" in the sense that they tempt one to do something that is sinful (i.e., the homosexual act), but temptations beyond one's control are not considered sinful in and of themselves. A marriage license is unconstitutional and was originally created in America to prohibit recently freed slaves from marrying whites. We need to abolish the marriage license.

The issue here is equal rights for all good people. Gays/lesbians/bisexuals are treated in the US as 2nd class citizens, and aren't afforded certain rights granted to others, such as seeing their significant other in a hospital, for example.
Marriage needs to be a fair/just contract for all. :)

It is statistically shown that the brain is fully developed around 20 years, so older people (>2 years apart from legal age) marrying younger children is a no go, because they may take advantage, unless evolution pushes the brain to fully develop faster, they must wait till legal age to date.

um...last time I checked, marriage was a religious ceremony. It has been made into a civil one over time. Mormons consider marriage to be sacred. People don't like it when their sacred stuff is messed with, just look at history. It's not a matter of violating rights. I am a mormon and I love gay people. But I believe that marriage is sacred and that it is between a man and a woman. So when it is used between a man and a man or a woman and a woman, it is messing with what I consider to be sacred.

i feel the need to say the other side of the story, not arguing, believe what you want who am i to say your wrong? but the reason the government cant let homosexuals get married is because our country was based on christian values and marriage is a church instituted process, and the protestant religion says that homosexuality is wrong. so, if they granted marriage to homosexuals than there would be such an uproar on the other side it would be a real problem.

An example of possibly acceptable ages:
(If the legal age is 18) Think 17- 19, 16-18 as being okay to date/marry if proven mature/informed enough. After legal age of consent of both parties, anything goes, no matter the age, they are considered adults legally at this time. That is the current rule anyway.
Couples should wait to have/adopt children until they finish schooling, or at a stable point in their lives, if possible for the sake of the children. This is just personal advice.

@FactualActual You may or may not be right about that, I don't know personally, as I haven't yet read historical policy involving the legal consequences of marriage, and if that's changed at all any.
The issue here is equal rights for all good people. Gays/lesbians/bisexuals are treated in the US as 2nd class citizens, and aren't afforded certain rights granted to others, such as seeing their significant other in a hospital, for example.
Marriage needs to be a fair/just contract for all. :)

@PLmoms Its is saying that if you chose to live in such a way, then you have already recieved your sentence. And that applies to all sin. You can not say that you are a follower of Christ when you are deny the validity of his word. How else would you have known of him if it were not for the very book you are discrediting.

The deceptive fruit is what is given to people who use the Bible to justify hate and/or discrimination against gays (and other minorities). God created us to be diverse and unique individuals. To follow Christ really means to love each other. Stop the hate, stop putting each other down, love God with all our hearts and love our neighbors as we would ourselves. There are no exceptions to the "love thy neighbor" commandment.

@PLmoms I do not hate people who consider themselves homosexuals. I do not hate anyone. Please stop assuming that because someone does not agree with homosexuality, they hate the people. If anything, i moved with compassion, seeing so many people lost and confused, trying to defend a lie. You are not Gay. Let go and let Christ show you who you truly are. He came to give peace to the oppressed, sight to the blind. Let him open your eyes. Blessing!!! :)

I didn't claim you personally hate anyone. But the deception you continue to push only supports those who are trying to justify their hate. In other words, while you might not personally hate anyone, you are encouraging more hate in this world.
Christ knows who we are, and Christ knows there are gay children of God, who are to be loved just the way they are. My eyes are wide open. I am loved and accepted by God, regardless of your opinion. God is love, period.

@PLmoms @PLmoms Sometimes we are wise in our own eyes but our ways are foolish before God. By continuing in our sins we build a wall between us and God; That very wall that Christ tore down when he was crucifified, we rebuild it. Because of that wall he can not hear us, can not see us, and does not know us. We become bastards. God is Holy and will have business with evil. He calls us to repentance, to correct our ways before him and then we will be his children.

@PLmoms The truth of Gods word is not a deception. True believers understand that our war is not against flesh and blood(you) but against spiritual wickedness(Homosexuality). I encourage you to go into a deeper relationship with Christ. Yes, God is love and he loves you deeply. But he wants you to love him back. The way that we show God that we love him is not only by saying it or believing it. One of the ways we show God we love him by obedience to his word

There are, however, hundreds of incidents of people who originally claimed they were cured of homosexuality, recanting those claims. Why? Because God made us gay, and trying to change it is disrespectful to Him. In the powerful words of Wolfgang van Goethe, "If God had wanted me otherwise, He would have created me otherwise."
There's nothing wrong with being gay.

@Azlaier As i explained in previous responses, NO ONE comes out of the womb with any particular sexual attraction. Sexuality is something that is developed. God created sex for procreation, God created sex for marriage. Men with Men, women with women cannot procreate therefore why are they having sex? Because of love? Love and sex are not one in the same. Jesus came to set the captives free, dont doubt his power to change hearts, minds, perverse desires.

@Spiritualeyesight The American Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Psychoanalytic Association, American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics would disagree with that ignorant and small-minded statement. Every mental health organization in the US and Europe have stated that homosexuality isn't a choice and cannot be changed. Your intolerance is disgusting, and until you think for yourself, you will never know the first thing about love.

Your 'opinion' takes away the civil rights of others, when it's not based on any scientific evidence whatsoever. The organizations mentioned is run by mostly straights, just as the world today is. Honestly, you would rather hold your breath and stomp your feet than think for yourself - it's disgusting.

@Azlaier Not everyone lives by the rules of science. Some of us acknowledge the fact that we are also spirit being, and we are lead by the spiritual aspect of ourselves. Just as you do not acknowledge spiritual thruths, i dont not ackowledge scientifc evidence with it comes to spiritual matters. I would rather not think(trust) in myself as all human knowledge is vain. true knowledge, wisdom, understanding comes from God through Jesus Christ.

Without science, our life span would be about 25 years; the common cold would be a death sentence. Science does was your god has failed to do. @Azlaier The word sodomy can be translated to mean "sin of sodom" the city in the bible that god destroyed because of their wickness ( "Sodom" and Gomorrah) add a y and youve got "sodomy" , among their wicked deeds were homosexual acts. @Spiritualeyesight The sin of sodom was inhospitality, it has nothing to do with homosexuality. Seriously, just do the damn research. Yes, gays have been marrying since the Roman empire, and probably before.
Also, I don't believe in the Bible, so..now what? What the Bible says holds no meaning to me. In order to use the Bible to promote your bigotry, you must first do something no theologian or apologist has done; prove the Bible is the word of god. Should win a Nobel Prize while you're at it.

@Spiritualeyesight It is recognized by many governments. Also, many churches DO recognize it. The Presbyterian, Unitarian, and Lutheran Churches all support gay marriage.
As for Sodom, people in the city were raping visitors. That's what was meant by 'inhospitality.' It's also worth noting, the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were right next to a Volcano. So, they were taken down by a volcano, not god; people just didn't know the difference back then. You ARE a brainwashed child.

@Azlaier Science is nothing without God. Scientists are simply uncovering the mysteries of God as he allows them. He created all and therefore knows all. The problem arises when they try to write out God. The bible is the only book that will not go out of date. Anything you want to know about anything is found in the bible. Thousand of years later and people are still using it as a guide to their lives.

@Azlaier You will not find gay marriage in the bible because god already gave the design(rules) for marriage when he created adam and eve. eve was made from adams rib, through marriage they would be one flesh again before God. Two men or two women cannot be one flesh. There were no other exceptions for biblical marriage. The bible explains that gay sex is not of God, therefore excluding any ideas of gay marriage.

@Spiritualeyesight It's also worth noting, the original biblical manuscripts never mention homosexuality. The idea of homosexuality (as we see it today) being against the Bible didn't emerge until the 19th century, and this is because of mistranslation. You should do your research, because right now, Jesus Christ would be embarrassed to have you associate yourself with Him.

Sodomy has been a sin punishable by death for centuries all over the world because of what the bible says about. The idea of two men wanting to marry did not come about until the 19th century.
