This is incredibly tasty and snappy piano playing, and yet there are so many different complicated and well-thought-out "tricks" within one of these rolls it is no wonder that only a handful of pianists today can play like this!
Some roll collectors are snobs and give Max short shrift, but I personally think that many of his early rolls are terrific examples of fantasic novelty piano playing! (such as this one!!!)
This is back in the golden days circa 1920-1925 when QRS' arrangements could give Columbia/Capitol serious competition!
I definitely agree! Kort was a very good mirror image of Pete Wendling's talent and often hard to tell them apart. I HOPE QRS does resume production in Seneca, PA and re-releases some of the old Ohman, Wendling and Kortlander original cuts. Are you listening Tom Dolan?
