  • Subscribed. I always thought that the native South Africans spoke Swahili. Apparently, I was incorrect. In what countries is Swahili spoken?

Xhosa sounds like a really cool language, though!

  • Swahili is spoken in Kenya and Tanzania.

Very different from the Nguni and Sotho-Tswana languages spoken in South Africa.

  • well im from south africa and its not only swahili its zulu and xhosa and many others

  • Do you encourage people to post video responses trying to use what you've learned, Khaya?

Oh, and molo, igama lam ngu Aaron.

  • I'm watching the cricket and you're Khaya, and Ntini is Makhaya. Is Khaya short for Makhaya, or are they two different names, or does he just need a prefix because he's not as awesome as Khaya?

  • @Forntwa i think they are the same im shona and zulu by papers but my blood has three tribes zulu,zuru/shona and xhosa:)

  • @Theblackbarbie698 three tribes?dem thats so cool ,do u speak all of the languages ?

  • holy shit there're clicks! That's awesome! :D

  • Same thing i was gonna say.....Clicks rock dude!!!

  • Dankie! Enkosi! This is a very good idea - it frustrate me endlessly wanting to have a conversation in Xhosa but not being able to. My friends try teaching me in small steps. How about giving us a chance to repeat the words - blessings!

  • In addition to those phrases, it is also essential to learn the swear words of a given language. Will there be a lesson on the swear words and/or insults of Xhosa? ;p

  • So the Xhosa word for "introduction" is "introduction"? The Xhosa language didn't have a word for "introduction" before there was an English influence?

  • I am trying

  • There is no way I could ever learn this, but it sounds cool to hear it.

  • I like...

  • There is no Xhosa word for introduction :-o

Also there is no Xhosa word for Youtube!!!! :-o x2

  • yes, no

  • Can we have some cultural background too? Like, what is the Xhosa population? And where are its geographical homelands? Etc...

  • How many languages do you speak? I see there's 11 official languages in South Africa.

  • Molo. Unjani? Igama lam ngu Jan. (målå. ondjani? ikamalam o jan.)
