I fucking love this song and video. Watched it over and over again will never get tired. This is how to do a cover and nail it. For me the best ever and i'm 42 and heard a lot of them (good and bad).
IDK, bout france, but this recording is bad ass, no choreographed shit where th ey're forced tp lipsync(common back then) Thanks so much and keep 'em coming
This stompin' groove beats the hell out of Ramblin' Rose. KInda like the Stones filtered through the Kinks filtered through the Troggs with a dash of soul. Makes me want to join a band again. Damn!!!
This is a Jagger/Richard song which originally appeared on their Uk ep 'Five By Five' in 1964. Did Roky Erikson use the riff as inspiration for 'Your Gonna Miss Me"? I guess we'll never know.....
Can anyone I.D. the bass player in this video? Apparently this is after they fired Michael Davis and hired that English guy, whose name I can't recall.
@charger771 The best history of the 5 is the movie "A True Testimonial" which was never released (there's a story), but some of it can be found on this site, Another great source of information is the web site i94bar.com
According to the movie, Davis was more focused on his heroin habit than the band, and he missed a flight for their European tour. When he arrived in the UK, the band fired him.
yeah this is the real deal! MC5 have like a soul tradition ...............to me anyway any comments welcome cuz i grew up with the stooges and it seems like they were influenced by MC5
@yxan I was in Detroit just a few days ago and had a chance to drive by the site of the old Grande Ballroom....If the now abandoned site could talk...it would be the howling of feedback from a stack of 1000 Marshall Amps!
This was my world from 1965 thru 1969...and beyond.
These uncles are worse than him father sticks even in his birthday, in 24 OF DECEMBER and before giving him the gifts. NOT neither TENEIS NOR PROSTITUTE DESIGNS
@yxan Nonononono, sorry; I meant what it must have been to be one of the lucky souls sitting in the background - that would have been something, right? Sorry for the disappointment factor, yxan!
These guys were great !! If they had just steered clear of that White Panther Party clown, they may well have ended up in the top tier of rockers of all time.
I respectfully disagree. John Sinclair (goofy fuck that he was) gave the MC5 a unique character that will embed them in SE Michigan cultural history for a long time.
The MC5 were super-cool, period. Anybody who knows anything knows that. "Top tier" doesn't mean anything except more production for the exploitative record industry.
Wow! there's Nothing Like MC5, Great True American Rock &roll band ever!!! i base my Vintage Shop to them.!! every since i was in High school My brother and i have Love the MC5!
Great Cover! I love that everything good from the 70's on, no matter what musical genre or "rock n roll image", can be traced back to the Stones. There was a shop in Gothenburg that used to place handwritten reviews and recommendations inside the CD sleaves. They were of the type "If you like this check out this..." By checking the recommendations on the stones albums in that store I discovered every band I ever liked that had staying power from AC/DC to ZZ TOP
all respect to the MC5 though, but this is just another enless jam.
By this time The Stones had already made Let It Bleed, yet these dudes were still stuck in '66,nothing wrong with that , but at this time they lost their fire.
This is like the tightest I've ever heard them... amazing. Rob sounds as soulful as Stevie Wonder and Brother Wayne is as always.... just fantastic!and HIGH (MC) 5 at the end just make it.
The same chords over and over but it's great!
