  • @lakeviewviking Well, aren't you just full of your fucking self.

  • i dont know all of the people that were killed in this fire but i did know one, and i can speak for her all and of her family and friends that are still today trying to cope with the fact that she wont be there to brighten up our days. i know she would be absolutly discusted in the fact that people are putting all these labels on her, yes she did chose to live like this, but she did it because she loved it, she wanted to have this kind of life, she had other options but this is what she loved<3

  • Holy shit, when this fire took place i had hopped out of town in the trainyard right behind them. Im almost positive i knew every single one of those kids. on the other side of that sand lot there is an old brick building. The warehouse and that building was where i squatted. Now, everybody needs to quit bitching about who's right about what becuase i bet neither of yall have actually been in our shoes. Hell yeah we are homeless, everyone was travelers cause nobody wanted to be stuck in N.O.....

  • @marshallportable rest in peace punks. All they wanted to do is get out of that shithole..and im not talking about the buliding

  • So, why did then not get out?

NO SMOKE ALARM to wake them/you before smoke inhalation puts them/you into unconsciousness?

    So sad and NEEDLESS.

  • thank you prople don't realize who they were and what they were doing.

Some of them stayed with us just before the fire.I want you to know we plan to buy the lot. They wanted to get it under squatters rights and make a place for

themselves and friends. I reconise you thanks for your insight

  • much love to all the NOLA squatter kids. its hard out there, keep your heads up punx!

  • Who fucking even cares if they were gutter punks. Of course they were, it's a way of life for them, as a matter of a fact I meet probably the majority of GP that shows up in new orleans, get them smashed, hang out and play guitar. For all of you bastards out there who think that you're cool because you live in this little fantasy land, realize that these kids are doing something that you will never ever have the courage to do. Most of them don't plan on being this way for life. Fucking hater

  • hello all, this is katie simianers mom. my son told me that he saw a comment somewhere on utube that someone found katies bag in the remains of the fire. if you know anything about this please contact me!!!

  • why did you even bother filming this? seems to me its a thinly veiled attack on a personal choice you dont agree with. what if they were in an actual house? with electricity or water? those burn down too you know.

Also, the people who gave you an attitude probably saw through your "concern" and didnt feel like being falsely lumped into a ill-fitting category thats subsequently been sensationalized by this tragedy.

    shame on you.

  • @HISTORY NONE of the deseaced matched your description of "Gutter Punk". It is true that they were illegally squatting, but none of these CHILDREN were homeless. They weren't even from the city. They hadn't even been here more than a few weeks. They were just travelling through and if you wish to lump all travellers together and generally call them "gutter punks", then I suppose I can lump you in the same group as all the other ignorant peoples of the world and generally call you an "asshole."

  • @bd2531 I've traveled around hitchhiking and riding trains, and I am NOT a gutter punk. I knew at least one girl who died in this fire, and she was one of the LOVELIEST people I have ever met in my life. The people who are posting hatred here in response to this tragedy are the true scum and trash.

  • @bd2531 I view them as Gutter Punks they look dirty they smell dirty they squat do not want to work dig in garbage cans for half empty drinks I could call them HoBo"s but Gutter Punk sounds nicer

  • @bd2531 I view them as Gutter Punks they look dirty they smell dirty they squat do not want to work dig in garbage cans for half empty drinks I could call them HoBo"s but Gutter Punk sounds nicer

  • @bd2531 they were not "children"; they were legally (though not emotionally) adults who brought their problems on themselves. I do feel sorry for their dogs, though.

  • I use to have to come in and out of there. The poverty is amazing

  • yeah... I feel real sorry for kids that had to break in someone's home, camp there and burn it down.

anyway... if those guitar punk, emos, runaways or what evert he hell they call themselves need a place to hang til the end of Jan 2011

Come to 424 Urbandale #2 free food and drink, a place to sleep, limited tho

We're kicking in the new year with a big party, guitar smashing good time. NO ALCOHOL!

  • folks to stay in abandoned buildings to secure the property. Some of these folks pay rent for properties that don't have utilities. In this case, the permanent residents of the building were employed (as you pointed out), tax-paying productive citizens. This awful, senseless accident could happen to anyone. Bottom line is, these were colorful, lively people with important, thoughtful meaningful ideals to share with our world and they're gone. There's nothing good about it.

  • There's enough anger to go around, for sure. You make some very good points about homelessness in general in nola. I know someone well in this video and you should know, on a personal level, that these kids have been targetted in the press as one-dimensional and bad-useless, free-loading, etc. So their reaction to questions might be more understandable particularly in the context of just having lost eight friends. As for the property, it is common as you know, for property owners to pay

  • Good coverage Casey

  • Well, I just purchased a set of electronic drums at $1400.00 for a high risk 14 year old boy, and now he has a job over the spring and summer doing yard work for me. We can't help everyone but it sure feels right to help at least 1 youth at a time.

Working on taking some issues to the streets, so when that happens feel free to comment.

  • @NuNationsUnity You are awesome!

  • @shbization What would be more awesome is to get more people involved to some level with a national program along the lines of matching youth up with music programs (eg. making music, dance, recording and competitions). I chewed out (challenged) Al Sharpton on BP to keep light on the subject as where the larger potential lays is in an awaking of like minded peoples not afraid to be kind, giving and insightful to a better way of life.

This kid is a mad drummer who definitely has talent.

  • @NuNationsUnity I love that idea. My oldest son is a musician, my others are still little. I'm interested in this idea of taking things to the streets!

  • @shbization Well, I have a non-profit with a trademark name attached to it, so send me an address through my inbox and I'll mail you a copy of the total proposal. What we need is an organization willing to open up State Trust Accounts as that is the main basis behind meeting the needs of kids. You ca go to my page and visit the link to the Foundation I work on, and if you agree with the Constitution then for sure, let's give it a try.

The majority of my mailings has been to politician in the US

  • despite the legalities of the matter such as what they were doing and wether they were there legally or not, what they wore or drunk, or acted like, THEY were 8human beings 8 people, breathing, living, co exsisting, just like you or me , people that lost there lives, in a horrible way, a bad ending to such a good day !!!!

  • @ncy4256 so basically the building owner was breaking the law I will be sure to pass that info on to the fire marshal. that building had no running water nor electricity

  • @ncy4256 If a few of Your Friends had not copped a huge attitude and acted like total asses and simply talked to me maybe I could have spread that message fact is a few there had really shitty attitudes do I need to include that footage?

  • @HistoryTours Yeah you should.

  • @HistoryTours Although I do not know what these people have said, I would give them a break considering their friends have just died and they are already in a miserable situation, I have been there. Probably the last thing they want is a camera in their face, they just want to mourn in peace. Reporting and letting the story be known is good, but maybe these people close to the victims don't want to be interviewed right now.

  • NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Eight homeless squatters who died in a fire at an abandoned warehouse where they were trying to keep warm were accomplished musicians and artists who rejected the label "gutter punk," acquaintances said.

  • @NuNationsUnity when I see kids in filthy clothes with dogs who are drinking from a fifth of jack at 11:00 in the morning I think GUTTER PUNKS.

IF these kids want to break away from that label maybe they first need to shed the image of being such it is like someone in the 70"s wearing tie died clothes and smoking a joint yet getting pissed if someone calls them a Hippy

  • We have so many shanty towns around me! I do have slideshows up about these on Dailymotion. It has just exploded here recently, and people are dying here in this weird cold in Paris, France. That young woman who had the bad feeling, yeah, she followed her inner guy. For 8 to die and 2 dogs, that means it was a BAD fire and accident!

  • We need more jobs, not "Mc. Jobs", that exactly why the homeless situation is never going to get better.

  • @TheTarrMan Right... there should be more small businesses that can hire or even someone with a little extra money who wants to create a few jobs here and there.

A world full of Wal marts and McDonalds is not a great world imo.

  • I was taught this as a child: Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. (Hebrews 13:1-2)

  • So sad...Thanks for sharing this story Casey.

  • I have been worried with the cold weather something like this would happen. It's truly sad.

  • I have been worried with the cold weather something like this would happen.

  • Very terrible,makes me sad.

Just like you said Casey,if the Government would spend just a fraction of what we give away to other countries or even a fraction of what we spend on the military,I don't think we would see these types of tragedy's.Invest in the PEOPLE not wars and banks!

    Mercy.........

    Truth~Peace~Love2All

    SSArt98

  • @SSArt98

They will not invest in the people...unless they are forced to.

  • phenomenally and excruciatingly saddening in a majorly and irrevocably phantasmagoria of complete and utter desolate absence of all joy

    *cries*

  • So very sad and tragic...

  • Agreed!!

  • Absolutely devastating !

  • I gotta tell ya, your reporting is SOOO much better than shitass MSM. I always look forward to your vids brother. Keep up the good work. You truly are an asset to our nation.

  • @rvlqcitizen than you bro god bless, Peace

  • @rvlqcitizen ..I completely agree-we most likely won't get this info otherwise!!

  • tragic... money...

  • This is very sad and tragic. It's too bad they want to force all of you out of the gulf. They will never make life any easier for anyone there because they want all the people to just move away so big oil and business can completely take it over and do what they want to the environment.

It maybe a conspiracy, but I believe it.

  • RIP to the 8 people and the 2 dogs.

  • @cardaderdention RIP to the 2 dogs, but not to the 8 "people".

  • truly sad... but thanks for sharing

  • This is very sad.

The news report claimed faulty wiring. I was just wondering if this buliding had elevtricty to it?

Also the girl that was there and left because she had bad feeling it would be interesting to hear from her. I am so glad she followed her intitution on this!

  • @trotwoodtrouble it was an abandoned warehouse they had a fire lit in a old half of a BBQ pit with the smoke stack facing the floor with no fresh air they were overcome by the toxic fumes the place then caught fire as they slept unable to wake up
