I had this process done to my hair a few years ago and I have to admit it was absolutely beautiful! Initially, I was a bit concerned about whether it was a permanent treatment or not considering how straight it was. Needless to say, my question was answered the next day when the weather turned out to be rainy and humid...lol. My hair began to return to that natural frizzy and springing texture that I love. It was nice to change things up a bit, but I rarely straighten it now!
my hair is extremely curly, a great thing about being natural, i like the fact that as soon as my hair gets wet it goes back to spiral curls. with that being said this process does what to my curls? they say its just "straightening" but every video i look at looks like they have either heat damage on their ends, or their hair looks like its been permed before. so does it change your texture or no?
Im planing on perming my hair when it get longer but worried about perm camical burns an shit.So how long do I leave the perm in and if it burns does that mean my hair will fall out!Never grow hair again 0_0 Somone let me know
@Caublasian1 if u do it urself u can jus read the directions on the box and it will tell u how long to let it sit and it wont burn .. jus don't brush or comb your hair really hard before u began the process :)
I've been natural for about 8 mths now! I twist it up & wear it wet & curly! I keep my hair conditioned because I am a blonde! I love Cantu hair products! The only thing I have a hard time with is getting a good flat iron! i get those 3 times out of the yr. Lots of people think that my hair is fake but it's all mines! Thick, long &blonde! Does anybody have any tips on getting a good flat iron w/o havn to go to the salon! I've tried flat iron sprays but I really don't like them! Suggestions?
I can get this look in my own hair with hot six oil and a flat iron, but I love how the hair in this video is shiny but not oily...it looks healthy and light and not that dry look that I see a lot of black women with these days, in order to get their hair to flow in the wind, it looks dry and brittle to me from too much heat or something.
What products did you use on the hair? How is the silkening process actually done?...I've heard of it being done this way: putting saran wrap around the hair after it's been blowdried, flatironed or pressed, wrapping it, and then sitting under a dryer.
I have read alot of dumb comments on this video and first I wanna say got to be a strait up dummy to not know that u can get your hair to look this good just by flat ironing it,i mean u must live under a rock or something and in order for the hair to not be natural any more it would have to be chemically altered.Using steam is just a temporary state for example when u iron your clothes and get the wrinkles out they don't stay smooth they go back to being wrinkled .Anyways, the hair is beautiful!
. . . I don't understand why every black women has to have a weave to have pretty hair. Stop saying "oh her hair looks like that because it's a weave..." My mothers hair looks like that and her hair is 100% natural and she is BLACK
@Sw3tieMarie thank you...... ppl misjudge me as african american they see my hair and call it a weave, they see my natrual hair they say ' get a relaxer. I think my own hair is the best..
why must black women refer to other black women as B's and H's. So ignorant and immature. When we we let that mentality go? because it getting really old really fast.
@Ms1234cative ... Bitch you must be crazy or retarded... But like I said ho... Its an OBVIOUS WEAVE... Now maybe your clueless and thinks its not but take it from a professional BITCH... That shit is a weave HO!

girls of all races do this or something like just by using a flat iron and different serums/conditioning/oil products. There are ways to care for your hair so that it's ready the night before but, really, it takes at least 30 mins to 2 hrs every single morning to re-style it, depending on how you wrap it, how often you wash it and so on.
Oh! I wish I knew that before....I mean, I guess I knew but I have no clue HOW to wrap hair. I did braids for this Irish boy once and told him to wear his biker bandana at night...he didn't listen and they were sticking up everywhere so he undid them that morning. Three hours wasted! I can do any good hair do but I'm not fast at all and I have no idea how to maintain it other then using a dew rag
@nelabug7 In fact, everyone I know who does their own hair just goes to sleep with it done like that...they wake up every morning and start with either washing and then combing it or start with combing and go from there. The only time I heard of a girl not doing that is when they have a weave and cover it up at night to make their investment last longer. Your comment was insightful, thank you.
ATTENTION LADIES, Silkening is just another name for STRAIGHTENING the hair. This is not a chemical process. This is a temporary process, meaning, that if we spray this girl's hair with water, or she just happens to sweat a little too much, her hair will return to its natural texture.
@iMikaylaaax0 I think there may be some confusion because there is actually a method called Silkener that uses chemicals. I want to say it's Miss Jessie's out of Brooklyn...while I cannot vouch for this authenticity of this or any video...(my disclaimer lol) I do know that you can obtain these results without chemicals but you're right it won't last up to humidity or moisture. In Columbue Karen Gary produces the same results without chemicals.
@curldiva I understand that there may be product lines that physically alter the hair with chemicals that cause a permanent change.. BUT this particular method here is a TEMPORARY process. No chemicals were used in this service. These women just had their natural hair thermally styled; i.e flat iron, pressing comb, blow dryer... ect.
@iMikaylaaax0 Not sure if you read my post thoroughly...because I agree that you can achieve authentic straight results with the process and that it was TEMPORARY as you retyped. ;) I was actually affirming not arguing.
@curldiva Oh noo, I'm sorry. I didnt mean to come off that way. I wasnt trying to argue at all. I just wanted to make sure that you understood where I was coming from and that I wasnt confused. I actually just understood what you meant by "confusion" amongst the commentary. No hard feelings (:

@cessy08 It's dead protein and you crush it between metal plates up to 250-300+ degrees and you wonder why it smells burnt?
