  • An eternal beauty.

  • Rest in peace Mick. Thanks for everything.

  • My favorite song on this album...

  • @amevolution - Great choice. I always loved this run.... so beautiful.

  • Amo alla follia i dalis car! E' uno degli album più belli che abbia avuto in 43 anni! Ho ancora le mie 2 copie in vinile.... e le tengo come veri cimeli!

  • Bloody Hell this is hardcore shit!!!! It just opened a new windy tunnel in my brain!! ARRRRGGGGHHHH!! YAAAY!! ;D

  • I love this song so much. 20 years ago, it made me realize that there are still undiscovered melodies and sounds, that pop music can be more than three chords and "boy meets girl". RIP, Mick.

  • RIP Mick. Thank you so much. We'll miss you.

  • YES!! Have not heard this song or this band in years. Thank you for posting this song.

  • such a neat sound. then again mick is known for his unique sound on his songs( i.e. "saviour are you with me"). be well mick remember you are loved.

  • Thank you, K1tsch83, it is so long since I heard this masterpiece. I wiki'd to see what Mick is up to these days. Devastated to read about his illness!

  • @andymajorc You're welcome, andymajorc. I had no idea about Mick's illness, so sad to hear such news. :(

  • Really gorgeous. Thanks for posting.

  • Can you even encounter this types of tune today?

  • Fantastic track

  • A long forgotten classic.

  • This wonderful group, killing joke and my bloody valentine are the most emotional band of all time...respect

  • The darkest tune of all times

  • Yes, another one for my collection! Won

't have to convert it now!

  • The songs from Dalis Car album is indeed an absolute classic for all times!!

  • MicK Karn & Peter Murphy released this beautiful piece of music in 1984.

You can hear its echoes a couple of years later on Dead Can Dance's "Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun" album and several others of their Brendan-Perry-sung songs.

  • Please K1 post Moonlife, I really miss this nu-goth piece, please!

  • This track is from a brilliant and very underated album. Does anyone know if they nicked the name "Dali's car" from the track of the same name on Captain Beefheart's "Troutmask Replica" album? It pre-dates it by about 15 years. Could be coincidence I suppose!

  • no, it's not a coincidence...

  • Ha!Ha! Thanks Kindsaluv. I did wonder.

  • I can't believe the things I use to listen to as a kid

  • Nice photo of the pair. I have it as a black and white poster that came with the single. Didn't know it was a color photo. Thanks for posting. As an aside note, does anybody else find it odd that they were named after Dalí but the cover of their only album was executed by Parish? So many mixed metaphores....

  • 'Dali's Car' if i remember correctly, is actually a piece of art by Dali. its a car, funnily enough, and its in his house in spain, in the courtyard. i vaguely remember water flowing through it and maybe a manikin of some kind, but im not sure... of course i could have dreamt the whole thing....

  • @nerfdup You are right, it is in his theater-museum at Figueres, Girona, Catalonia, and it has water and some little plants growing on it.

  • i love the ancient sound ...

  • I love these guys! And what a great name for a band!

  • This might sound stupid but ummm...what is the name about! Dalis Car!??? I like it too but what does it mean?? lol

  • It's a reference to Salvador Dali, a famous surrealist painter. You should check out his art, it's cool!

  • Dam!! I knew it! I looked it up and there was this painter with the name Dali, but I wasnt sure if maybe that was the name they got it from! But thank you!! I'll definatly Look him up!

  • It's named after Dali's art installation which is on show in the courtyard of the Dali Museum in Figueres in Spain. It's an old car that rains inside, very cool

  • Notice there is no apostrophe. So I believe it's pronounced Dallas Car rather than Dali's Car as in one of the songs on the album that refers to Dali's car.

  • No I'm sorry but its pronounced Dally's Car!

    Dali as in Salvador Dali

  • I used an unfortunate example with Dallas. I was thinking more of Dal'-is with accent on the first syllable rather than Da -lis'. When I heard this song on radio it was pronounced as in the former so I made no connection with Dali. In the song where Dali's car is mentioned it is pronounced in the latter way. Have you ever heard Murphy pronounce it either way it's spelled with a soft s, rather than a hard z denoting posession. Thanks for reply and posting. Sorry for being so prolix.

  • so brilliant

  • they must have driven each other mad they are both such perfectonists

  • in fact i heard they hardly spent time in the studio together. they mainly sent tapes of their music to each other, so they pretty much worked alone.

  • Mick Karn is a LEGEND!

I have Judgement on picture disc 7 "

    and Titles on LP

  • dalis car what a great concept my two favorite men . i have the waking hour on vinel thanks

  • Two men from two amazing bands that are legandary!!!! I guess we will never know what the second album could have been!
