  • What a wonderful treasure!

  • great!

  • topper!

  • Nice job on the video - sgoinneil!!

  • Agree with everything about the voice - this is the first time I've heard her; thought that a twelve-string AND a ?mandolin? were a bit too much as backing, but worked well with the fiddle. Nice to hear good intonation from the backing vocals, as well.

  • wonderful!everyone!

  • julie you & the musicians sing/play this

so very well!thank you so much for the

    wonderful music!

  • Mo ruin in Scots Gaelic is literally my secret

  • Ah... in Irish "Run" (pronounced "roone") is also "secret". Thanks.

  • Cupla focal agam,Go h-Álainn ar fad an ceoil seo,

  • Beautiful voice : Though with my Irish Gaelic I can't help but translate the tile as "This drink here in my hand will be my ... ruin" !

Can ye Scots put me right ?

  • The drink will be in the hand of my love (I think) - 'ruin' means love in Irish too though? Is it the missing fada that's confusing you?

  • Aye. You're right - its "hand of my..." not "my hand".

But GRÁ is the only Irish word I know for "Love".

  • @bmoregan i believe the word you are looking for is secret, " this drink in my hand will be my secret"...sorry but i am not a scot...lol i am a Maritimer and proud of it

  • Thank you for uploading this. Great song. I really should go find myself some original copies of her CDs.

  • amazing song!

  • Go h-Álainn ar fad. Is breá liom cloisint le guth fíor iontach an cailín seo. Go n-eirí léi.

  • Too lovely!

  • Moran taing for sharing, love Julie, just love this song.

  • Thank you for sharing this with us, and to the artist for giving you permission to do so. In the session is my favorite way to enjoy this kind of music and Julie Fowlis' is one of the finest Gaelic voices I've ever heard. I don't think one would need to understand the language to appreciate this. It's beauty transcends all languages and boundaries to brighten the lives of all it touches. It certainly does mine and I'm grateful so beautiful a voice should be that of such a good person, too.

  • @ljbabysprite i completely agree. i don't understand the language myself, but if I've had a bad day, or feeling a bit under the weather, i just listen to Julie Fowlis' albums and it instantly lifts my mood.
