Most of the Book of Daniel is just dream and metaphor, as is the Book of Revelation. That doesn't stop Christians from interpreting what they want as "true" and what they don't want as "dreams." Whoever wrote the Apocalypse of John (Revelation) was describing what he thought would happen to Rome. He did this through visions that ignorant Christians have used as signs of the coming end times, not Rome's end times. Christianity depends on which dreams you want to believe.
you're right, BobTKaye...I just looked it up in my own Bible. It was just a dream! A dream of the famous King Nebukadnezar, and Daniel explains the King's dream as a prophecy about the King's fall in the future. The tree is to symbolize the King's might.
You are just as stupid as Christian fundamentalists are, if you don't know what symbols and metaphors are.
For example, the World Tree is a very ancient symbol. It does not originate in the Bible. All classical cultures knew it. The Germanic folk called it Yggdrasil, and the famous Irminsul (destroyed by Christian missionaries) was a symbol of it. The First Nations (Amerinds) knew it as Totem pole, the Chinese had a World Tree, and the Romans, too; they called it Axis Mundi, World Axis.
The World Axis or World Tree is not a physical reality, but a symbol, an image for the connection between our world and the higher order in the Universe. It also signifies the "right order", confer the uptight sitting Buddha or the throne of the King.
Man is defined by his upright stand. That is also a symbol. Dogs, antelopes, monkeys, worms crawl on the ground or jump or dangle from tree to tree.
I don't deny science but I deny narrow-minded people, Christians or scientists.
