Do you realice you had pay 1500€ extra just to have an apple in the back of your laptop right?
ALSO! the games you played are very old for a 2010 computer. If you rly wanna show if it worth your computer try with something like BF3, Batman Arkam City and new games like those with high grapphic settings. not 2007 games. But i think they wont run more than normal settings.
@mcalgar The Mac is a computer for work. This is just a short demo of it runnig some games. Its not a gaming computer, but it does the job ok. This video shows that..
The only games that are old is Oblivion. The rest is 1/2 a year older than the MBP! Those games was, that time, some of the best games in my opinion. I've just got BF3 nad havent made a video yet. Got to admit, BF3 needs a LOT of power, and my MBP is struggling.. Its playable but on LOW settings..!
@mcalgar if you buy a mac you pay for the OS and besides the "performance hardware" you also get a lot of build quality like the aluminum unibody cases and the nothing less than stunning display quality. It's hard to find such fit and finish from the kernel of the OS all the way to the outside beauty on a windows machine.
@1Bujbuj Well, it all comes up to what you need it for.. If you are using programs, then its great, but if you planing on gaming, i would buy a pc (not laptop, thou).. But well, the MBP does a great job on gaming, BUT a PC would do it better.. Gaming for me works fine.. If you are happy enougth to play hardcore graphic games on low/(sometimes medium) settings, then go for it :)
@MusicIsLyfeeX Well .. Dont know.. Sorry ... I can tell you that my 2.66ghz i7 is fine overall.. I would say that Macbooks are not for gaming but it does the job well enought (...for me) .. If your a hardcore gamer then i would go for a good windows PC with a good GF card and so on...
@PSPHACKS3000 No! not at all ... I can tell you that i got smcFanControl in OSX and when its WORKING HARD it can hit 90C! (REMEMBER that its the processor and not the surface of the MBP) I dont have anything in Win7 that can tell me the tempretures when gaming but it gets hotter than 65C, thats for sure!..
if this can play battlefield 2 and oblivion and all of that it's already great in my opinion but...Could it play arma 2 if I got the core i7 version 17 inch 2011 model at high graphics/resolution?
@unc3unc3unc3baby i wouldent see that at a problem... Its a old game and the graphics are not at "hardcore" as Battlefield.. Iam playing BF bad company 2 on it at the moment, and it runs great! not in high settings, but with middle settings, and it looks good! It can run 1920x1200 but it will start to lag when somthing big happens..
@ba77ar90 Well I had this Macbook Pro for 1 year now, and i does NOT disappoint me at all! I use it for Abobe series, gaming, pictures, movies. It does everything very well! BUT its not a "gaming pc", it does the job god, but if you ONLY play games, then i would suggest you not to buy a laptop/macbook. It gets hot when playing. My MBP is i7 processor and 7200 rpm hhd, so gaming is fine. I do not run 1920x1200 when playing. some games is in 1680x1050 others in 1280x1024 depending on the game.
@ba77ar90 I think it will be the same dude. AND if you go for at 15 inch 2010 then its not at HD screen (1920x1200) just you know. The 2011 models (13,15,17) are full HD ... But no matter what, you will love the macbook! its the greatest computer ever got! i'll never go back to PC...
If you dont know what it is, the i can tell you that its a program in OSX that lets you install Windows without any problems! so you can have osx and win on ther same computer..
Once again Mac thinks different (in a positive way) !! :P
@dagmarthomine thanks! I'm thinking of getting a Mac this year after they refresh their Mac Pro lineup and put Sandy Bridge Processors on them.... I'm also hoping it will have a Bluray player and a 1GB VRAM on it. Coz once i buy it I don't think ii'll be wanting to buy another computer for a while.... coz i know it will cost me 3000 or more off the top.... :) nice review btw :) Love that you showed more than one game and the individual settings for each :)
@maharv23 Dont know anything about the new processor! Sony is the one who invented the bluray thing, so I don't think Apple will use that ever in there MB's.. Just a guess :)
I just got my MB 7 month ago. Before I had a self-build-gaming-PC, but now after getting this MB I will NEVER EVER go back to PC! (I made a bootcamp partition)..This MB is the best I've ever paid 3400$ for! (I live I Denmark. Over here everything is more expensive!!) ..
@maharv23 I doubt the Bluray, just because, rumor has it, the optical drive will be completely removed. I hope differently, but as long as the Sandy Bridge processors work to their expectations, there is something to look forward to
@RosieCracks i know it sucks that sony doesnt want to share it's technology in the computer world as much as it has in the Home Theater world with companies like Samsung, LG and the likes adopting the Bluray readers in their systems... I'd even settle for a External Bluray player but I dont think that is going to be possible anytime soon as well... & Apple can't afford to remove optical drives from all their laptops, that would be a big mistake... Anywhu, let's wait and see how things go :)
@maharv23 Well glad to say the optical drives were not removed! Of course still the same Superdrive and, inevitably, no Bluray. I am actually returning my current Macbook Pro for the new ones - Looking forward to the upgraded GPU (Finally 1GB!) . I kind of doubt we will ever see Bluray in a Mac, but I too was thinking of an external Bluray writer; apparently Mac OSX can decode Bluray. Its just finding programs, etc. Besides, burning a Bluray isnt cheap. Darn discs are expensive!
Pics, movies, downloads, and so on is OSX, and games is win 7. As you said. Gota have my games!! bootcamp is a big help when you install windows together with OSX ..
If you want help in the future just contact me, then i can help you if you need anything :)
@Recon9143 SIMS 3 shouldn't be any problem at all. I think it can run it with full settings .. WoW wouldn't be any problem either, but i dont think you can run it on full settings! ..
keep in mind thou that those videos are from a i7 processor and not the "standard" i5 and thats a big difference in gaming ......
@dagmarthomine Yup Just thinking about getting a i7 15inch but kinda iffy about spending that kind of money on a computer 1 I never used MAC before and 2 I wouldnt say Im a hardcore gamer as far the games Id play but I like the option! Thanks!!
@Recon9143 First time for me to with a Mac, and iam soooo happy with it.. Best laptop i've ever seen and tryed.. @dagmarthomine Yeah I know what you mean I will most likely pick it up and just buy it I don't see going wrong with it, It's a sexy Laptop I have never owned a Laptop and I was really thinking about picking up one 7+ hour battery life thats insane. Gaming seems like it would be bar far good enough to have fun and still wouldnt be a problem I wouldnt play a lot of games actually I have a 360 already and a gaming PC so Thanks again for this review man! I'll sub.
@Recon9143 I got a PS3.. Some games are for PS3/XBOX360 other games are for PC/MAC :) just my opinion :)
BTW
I got a great camera/recorder (HD) as well. So the Mac 17" (only the 17" is HD 1920x1200) is so beautiful to look at, and got some great programs if your into editing and so on ....
@Recon9143 You know, you can hook up the Xbox 360 controller to the Mac and play PC games? It's cool because you get to have better graphics of the MacBook Pro and use the controller you've been used to.
@Fastcarsupersports Yeah, it works just fine on Mac. As long as you're running Windows, no one should have problems. But, that other guys said he wasn't much of a gamer so I doubt he's going to buy Windows just to connect a controller.
@techgeekatw No i dont use anything.. My i7 also gets reeeeally HOT ! Ive read that the fan control is not healty for the Macbook!.... I belive that the Apple guys knew that this would happend and its "okey" that it gets hot.. ALWAYS place it on a table or hard surface. NEVER in the bed or somthing like that !!
