dias still has his classic end of battle stance i always liked that from SO2...gah this could be a really good game on the PSP or even the GBA if it was translated into english and then localized...Square just keeps screwing us who live in the states and europe by leaving plot sequels and prequels only in the hands of Japan but not other regions.
i really just cant point out what i'm trying to say.. umm, well i guest it's my bad. i'm just jealous that i didnt get a chance to play it coz they didnt release it in english version.
Because the Gameboy Advance had only been out for about a month or two when this game was released. tri-Ace already had this game in development before the GBA was even released.
I didn't really get to play that much of it to give a proper review, but the combat wasn't too interesting for as far as I got. The music and customization systems were awesome though, as expected of tri-Ace.
OMG!!! Such crappy music, and crappy graphics! This looks like it would suck more than the SNES version! Dont get me wrong, im not dissing star ocean, I actually love the game. but this. this thing. It's like something you'd play for the NES BWAHAHAHA!! XD
So you don't like the game because it's on an 8-bit system? Obviously the Gameboy Color's sound and graphic quality is not on par with the handheld systems of today, but for the time, and especially for the Gameboy Color, this game's graphics and sound were of top quality. The game was also 32 megs, which is absolutely huge for a GBC cartridge.
If you start judging games based on content rather than what the graphics look like, you'll be able to enjoy a much wider scope of games.
But you still don't seem to understand the point. Graphics don't matter in a game.
This game was made in 2001 (it was released sometime in March, 2001). The Gameboy Advance and PlayStation 2 were relatively new at the time, so tri-Ace developed a game for a system they were more used to. And, like Star Ocean before it, they broke the limits of the system they developed for with superior graphics and sound, and an innovative item creation system.

Uhh, too me graphics do matter in a game. Like the reason I never liked FF7 is cuz they had blocks for hands. Star Ocean 2 didnt have nintendo music that was made like in 1992, and also it wasn't "2x2" inch screen. I mean, wheres the classic Star Ocean music? I am sure it is fun, im just saying I wouldnt pay to play it unless they up'd the graphics and put it on big screen.
An example is Chisato who can take snapshots of creatures and puts them in your album. Then I believe Bowman gathers monster data and puts it in your album. Dungeons are very puzzle, they remind me of Wild Arms where you need specific abilities to get past. Precis for example has a robot and can jump across terrain in it. Ernest probably uses his whip.
This game is pretty fun, each character has an unique ability or two. Also when crafting items, you play a mini game! A skill system also makes a comeback. Overall this Gameboy Color game has a lot of depth. The worst part is probably the combat because sprites disappear, it's like a mini "Tales of" combat, the gameboy can't handle too much in the same time. I don't know japanese btw, I just played it for like 10 hours. There's no active projects.
I know that for a fact that they haven't remade it because they haven't remade it, plain as that. They've only released remakes of Star Ocean 1 and 2.
If you press the attack button again right when you hit the enemy you can create long and devestating combos. If you tell me what video recorder you used I could make a video response to this and show everyone.
In the first Star Ocean for the SNES, the intro is fully voiced in English, yet the rest of the game is in Japanese (don't worry Zeromus, there's an English translation patch for the game if you plan on recording it)
they definitely need to remake this! the PS1/PSP graphics are better than this! i wish i was japanese, they get all the cool stuff :[

Square-enix should remake this to the PsP. its not that it was wasted on the GBC, its just, well... umm.. wasted. hhahaha. peace.

How was it wasted on the GBC? It was made in 2001; the GBA was just barely released.

I just thought it was rediculous cuz if this was the Star Ocean Expansion, shouldn't it have better graphics?
I don't see why they made it on Game Boy. When it should be on the Playstation or Possibly the Playstation 2. I don't know when this game was made.
