Sounds to me like a blown capacitor on the battery charging circuitry to me, based on the pop, the then the flame. Do you know how volatile Laptop Batteries are when charge incorrectly either by incorrect charger or bust curcuit.

it sounds like the heatsink wasn't working. the processor overheated and combusted. check out processor explosion on youtube. a processor without proper cooling could get hot enough to ignite itself and explode in seconds.

This can happen, depending on what processor you have, they can overheat and melt. It's rare, but it does happen.

Omg my acer aspire 5920g charger caught fire a few months ago, i was very very angry i phoned up acer and they asked me some questions, and then i just went mental at them and i was like i want a new laptop and if i dont get one ill sue you, i got a new one and yeh if it happens again ill get a full refund the newest acer. so its worth it lol

I've had a Toshiba M300 battery burst into flames, Toshiba Germany and Japan got involved.

Without question they replaced it with a Toshiba Portege R500, because the Toshiba M300 is discontinued.

Ha ha wrong, the first PC built was by Atari actually. It was a quite simple thing, it was like a keyboard with all the necessary parts of a computer that had to be plugged into a TV. You could go farther back to WW2 era where they had HUGE computers that took up a whole room to and many open windows to keep them cooled.

Apple are great for repairs.

I broke my iPod Touch 2G at least 4 times, 2 of those weren't my problem, but the others were down to the rain and washing machine.

Replaced without question on the spot in the local Apple Store. Great support team :P

let me tell you how it happened,sens mac book pro has a metal frame, the unit can get hot easily,it wont be hot from outside,its from inside, becouse mac is trying to make its dessings soo slim, that they dont put the right size cooling fan,this is how it cout on fire,becouse the prosesor is near the battry and the proseesor gets hot, battry gets hot and hot soo one of the battry cell will melt and make a fire,,and as you see the area that been burend is black,, that means it was the battery!
