Thank you so much. I am so grateful for people like you. I just found out my 3 year old son is HOH/ deaf in 1 ear/ unilateral ..were learning alot of new things. We love u. We are learning ASL. Can't wait till I can understand ALL u said. U inspire us!
@MrPacMan36 The captions are in English, but she's signing in ASL, which is grammatically (and completely) different than English. She's probably mouthing the ASL words that she's signing.
Hey Ally, I had a question about a sign you used. I think it was the sign for "grade" like you were teaching 5th Grade. My asl teacher (who is Deaf) said that there is no sign for GRADE, that it has to be finger spelled. Im in OKC so could there be that big of a regional difference?
Absolutely love your interpretations and was wandering if you took requsts. ive been looking for the black eyed peas song Alive. your asl is simply beautiful, i wish i was that fluid. keep it up!
@allyballybabe Not to stick my nose where it doesn't belong, but I'm happy to hear that!! Gotta applaud anyone learning ASL, but his signing pales in comparison to yours. It's actually kinda mind-boggling to me, with his beginner's skills, that he gets so many viewers...
@Gmw221 your nose belongs anywhere it wants on the internet, unless you're negatively commenting on my vids. haaha. i understand your position COMPLETELY, which is part of the reason i backed down.
i didnt feel comfortable signing with someone who has no involvement in the Deaf Community. he has great potential, if he were to become involved.
i've pondered this a lot.... that hearing signers get more viewers than Deaf signers and it really makes no sense. its not fair.
@allyballybabe I mean no disrespect towards you. I enjoy your videos and interpretations very much, and I'd be the first to stick up for you if someone was making an unfair attack. I have shown your videos to my Deaf and HoH friends as well, and they really enjoy them! :) If you have seen any of my videos, I butcher ASL grammar quite a bit, but as I become more involved with the Deaf community, I feel this will improve. Keep doing what you do best! :)
@Gmw221 people like zephyreros, who is Deaf himself, is SOOOOOOOO much better than ANY hearing song signer on the web ... including me. i've fought and fought and fought with people about this topic, so i'll just stop here, but you and i are on the same mindset. :)
@allyballybabe Agreed-- zephyreros is INCREDIBLE!! (what about a collab w/ him??) And you're right, it ISN'T fair. But I think it's really awesome that you're bringing this to people's attention, esp. given that there are so many song Signers out there who don't give the Deaf community its due.
@Gmw221 yeah, we talked about doing a collab, but he's really busy, as am i. so it's been difficult. hopefully one day, though. :)
and thanks. i really just am sick of seeing so many signers out there claiming that they "know" ASL but have only taken it for two years, and just butchering it completely.
i try to make it known that the BEST and ABSOLUTE MUST to be involved and use ASL is to get involved in the Deaf Community. the heart of ASL lies -no, THRIVES, there.
@allyballybabe You are being too harsh madam. With all due respect, there are signers on Youtube that are in the process of learning ASL, and are involved with the Deaf community, but their signing is very "English" in grammar and style. They will improve over time.
But, not all Deaf and HoH people sign true ASL either. More and more are signing PSE and in some cases, SEE. I'd say the Deaf community is split down the middle in this aspect.
@farmboy05041 it's not only about signing in SEE and PSE. although, yes, you are right, that does happen quite often - even in my videos! i'm the first to admit.
the true problem is that he isn't involved in the Deaf Community. and that is just wrong. to portray a language that he knows nothing about and gain popularity for it? it's wrong.
@allyballybabe I understand now, lol. Yes, I believe you are right, and have more respect for those who are actively involved with the deaf community. I know from personal experience Deaf people are pretty accepting of people who's sign is far from perfect, but if they see that they geniuenly want to learn the language and accept the culture, their level of signing doesn't matter. :)
@farmboy05041 Just wanted to add that I don't think there's anything wrong with signing PSE or SEE as a beginner.
But CV has hundreds of thousands of viewers and performs on TV/onstage-- and therefore people look up to him as an expert or a teacher.
That's kinda dangerous, in my eyes, not to mention unfair to fluent speakers. The Deaf community should be the only and final authority on ASL. I really don't mean to disparage anybody, just wish that was more widely acknowledged.
I like the mystery of how ur voice may sound but damn its hard to read the text and ur signing.... lol Im just saying cuz id like to apreciate ur signing alot more.
yay! i love that you sign. i'm going to take a ASL class next semester=] i'm super excited i've always been amazed by ASL, so i'm glad i can start learning more its just a beautiful language
I am so happy for you.. I hope your teaching brings you great joy I am sure it will.. I love to watch you, I am still learning ASL I had a deaf foster son and I was learning it with him but he got adopted by teachers that teach ASL at the community college
The name sign for Dallas looks strangely similar as the regional sign for Detroit, haha.
Very exciting you are now teaching for the deaf institute. Very good interpretation for the Kesha song...not a big fan of the song, but love how you signed it. Almost makes me want to like the song...Almost :)
That is sooo cool you're going to be teaching fifth grade! GOOD LUCK! I am only in ASL 3 in high school and we get to go to the elementary schools and help the deaf kids, its soo much fun! :] I live in florida, with no license, otherwise i would totally come and see you! :\
I would go and see the concert in dallas if I didn't live down in Corpus Christi (since you are from Texas, I am sure you have at least heard of my city) and i don't have the gas money or ticket money to go and watch.... oh I like your videos and i am a speaking (voice) person also..... I wish i knew asl
Sadly, neither I nor the family I'd take with me if I did will be able to make it. (I shant bore you any of my personal delimas,) but it seems you have quite a few fans who have made it a point to do so.
Also, how do you plan on surviving if you're going to teach anyone over 5? You look FAR too young. Hmmm, trying to imagine you with a suite, glasses and hair put back...nope. Still really young.
Ally, Tickets are $15....You can give them my personal email address or school email. The tickets will be sold out by the end of the week, I think so if they want tickets they need to act fast!! We are adding a SURPRISE guest to the list!!! Keith's friend! Gonna be AMAZING!!!
oh my god! i've recently started watching all of your stuff. i learned ASL/PSE as a kid and now getting back into it! anyway i used to live in dallas so i'm sad i'll miss this event but good luck! i'm sure you'll do great.
Ally, this is great. Thanks for the update, I did kind of wonder what happened. Oh, and congratulations on getting a job teaching 5th grade, I hope that you will love teaching as much as I do. Just instead of teaching deaf children sign language, I teach ESL (English as a Second Language), which is a blast.
Anyways, once again, thanks. And I'd love to be able to come to Dallas, but I'm not going to be able to make it this time. :(
IT'S gonna be an amazing show. Keith just told me his friend is coming too! His friend is famous in the deaf community so it will be amazing. Get my email info from Ally if you are interested or send me a message and I will give it to you. Don't wait too long, tickets will be gone soon.
Oh man! I wish I could go to see you in Dallas, TX with Keith Wann. I hope you have a blast out there like you did in San Francisco, CA. I really enjoyed all of your hard works and keep it up! I wonder if you'll ever do like this here in Houston, TX?
Oh man Ally! I sooo wish I could go! What an awesome opportunity for you! It really sounds like you have been busy and have a wonderful semester ahead of you!! I can't wait to see the next video and your secret duet one also! I'm glad you are back!!
I CANNOT WAIT to see you and Stephen work together!!!! Ya'll both good and I'm sure it will be the most amazing thing... this is like, if the US and Mexico would become one... this is big I CANNOT WAIT!!!!
I'm so glad when you update! Since the last time you posted something new, I took my first level of ASL at the CHS (Canadian Hearing Society) and I loved it! I've always wanted to learn, but never had the chance and you definitely helped inspire me to get out there and finally do it. Dang, I wish I can go there cuz I live FAR! :P Yup you tried at your best to give people ASL songs when you really can ;) Good luck with Keith Wann for ASL Song or so! Take care!
And glad to hear you're enjoying teaching the kids. It IS a lot of work and keeps you busy, but it's so rewarding--as is completely evident by your smile! =]
On Jan 21st Keith Wann will be performing in Vancouver, Washington. I can't wait to see him perform again. That is amazing that you get to perform with him!
I love when you put up new videos. I took sign language classes 8 years ago and I'm out of practice but I can always understand about 95% of what you sign. Thanks for making it easy to understand you.

@allyballybabe Thank you thank you thank you. And, it's okay. I forgive you and understand forgetfulness. That's why I asked, as a simple reminder. :)
TSD! That is awesome! My ASL club used to go up to Austin a couple times every semester to go to their events and plays and such and it was always great fun! Oh and glad your holidays were good!
She is talking about a future preformance in Dallas, Texas, a duet with captainvalor COMING SOON, and her teaching at Texas School for the Deaf. In a nuttshel!!! hhahaha
I'm still new to asl I can kinda understand this but watchiny your videos helpss :)
