  • Mate, what a shit video,..

  • Jeez... You dont half go on at the start....

  • woah! your info really helped me with my homework! thanks for the vid!

  • Very useful!

Thanks a lot for posting this, it's definitely going to help me in my research paper on renewable energy.

  • Solar energy is very intriguing with me.

Though it is intermittent like you said, wind power can be a good backup. And you can make low-energy systems that run on solar that will detect and mechanically clean obstructed cells, which can run on the energy it's cleaning!

I'm not reliable on water, since most people don't have immediate access to water. So yes, my thoughts are mainly on solar and wind, the two most prevalent sources of renewable energy.

  • Ran out of comment space.

Water power can still be utilized by capturing the rain. Rotational power can be placed in rain outputs, such as strategic locations on the roof, in gutters, or drains. Also, to conserve energy from cell-cleaning systems, you could channel the rain over solar panels to wash away obstructions, thus saving energy from the systems that would use the energy. There are so many things to utilize that people don't realize.

Sooner or later, renewable energy has to be used.

  • Yes sooner rather than later. I have recently been using my car (an '88 corolla) which is particularly fuel efficient, but still get pissed off that there are no cheap alternatives that are as convenient as a car that don't burn for energy. God damn GM for ditching the EV. Thanks for the comment. Take care.

  • Seeing how interested you are in renewable energy sources, you should bring to the table new never been before seen ideas that put these basic ideas to work more efficiently. By basic i mean, solar, wind, and hydrothermal. If you want to bring something beneficial to your viewers, give them ideas that you, and you alone have thought about. Save the explation of those basic ideas for wikipedia readers. It's not hard either to come up with your own ideas. I've thought up a whole slew of them.

  • Nice to see young people getting involved, and being so knowledgeable.

Hey, if you're in Australia, look up the Permaculture folks and get some more great ideas -- they've been spreading them since the 70s and now, at last, the rest of the world is catching up.

    Gina

  • done ;)

  • Glad John Howard is gone...now if we can only replace Bush here with Barack Obama then we'll really change things!

  • LOL Yeah its actually quite interesting what a change in goverment can do for the people of a country. Work Choices gone, Kyoto signed, troops from overseas coming home, said sorry to the indigenous people of Australia. List goes on. Off with Bush's head! lol (maybe a little extreme - but at least get him out of power ;)

  • lol...I would agree with you on the 'off with Bush's head' comment, but unfortunately our government spies on us and I wouldn't want them to use the Patriot Act to declare me an enemy combatant (as they have done to other American citizens) and cart me off to Guantanamo or one of the other torture prisons we have across the globe.

So...I'll just stick with "No Comment." ;->

  • lol fair enough. Pretty sad though. Just because you are angry with a president and his choices should entitle you to free speech/ Innocent until proven guilty and shouldnt chuck people away on 'suspicions'..thats bullshit.

  • Nah...I'm serious. If you threaten the president here, even if you are joking, you can be arrested. A police officer in Tampa did it in a business and was arrested and sent to prison for five years, and he is one of many. So like I said...I'm sticking with no comment.

  • Like I said - its bullshit = unfair and contradicts the freedom of speech act. What a ridiculous law.

  • Technically, if you look in the original laws, taxes are illegal. We still have to go by it though. I'm not going against it, you get into hot water when you don't pay them...

  • Thank you, Pat Robertson. You can go beat your Bible now.

  • Hey nmorphew, nice tv set in the background, but anyway, how do you plan on using fuel more efficiently? deatails, sorry missed the end of the video, write me back sometime?

  • hi. right now im not using combustible fuel. I have an electric bike charged from a green energy supplied house. We buy renewable energy from jack green in Australia. Thanks for the comment

  • Sorry to hear you have no car no more, but if you have money then you really should log into the tera site or look for "aptera" in youtube.

And when you mentioned solar panels and solar heat absorbers, i didnt hear you mention anything about sterling engines. theyr quite cool, or shall i say HOT lol. any ways I am really glad to see one puting something series here at youtube. More glad to c its abat clean energy.

  • You did a great job. I am doing research on renewable energy resources because I am going to write a paper for a scholarship about this matter. I got a lot of useful information from your video. Thank you.

  • No problem ;) Good luck with it!

  • Sounds like a great way to spend some brainpower! Love the idea.

  • Alternative energy is as dangerous as alternatives lifestyles. Look at homosexuality. It started out small and now it's taking over. Same with hybrids. Oil companies create jobs. Solar and wind dont. We need JOBS not wimpiness and cowardice.

  • Eventually you will pass on and your terrible thoughts will go with you. I prefer a happy, clean future. Get a job in health - we have a shortage there.

  • I hope you change you ways. Oil also makes people poor for high gas prices, we don't get any benefit from it other than to go places, most Americans do not work in the oil industry, a very few do. We don't see hardly any return for investing in foreign oil unless your a politician. Your name says it all.

  • I am sorry if I offended you by my inclination to doubt your good motives and my backhanded compliments. Good luck with your mission from a cynical New York City resident. Why don't you cut out all the scientific and technical stuff and merely simplify your message into something like the "Ten Commandments of Renewable Energy for Dummies" for those of us who are right brain dominant.

  • will do! thanks for the feedback.

  • Your message, although commendable, is lost to the average person by your ad infinitum technical jargon. Your presentation sounds like a speech given to fulfill an assignment for an undergraduate class in Oral Communication 101. I suspect there is some underlying ulterior motive for jumping on this bandwagon - to show off your good looks for a movie role or perhaps a role in politics.

  • thanks for your comment and that backhanded compliment. i havent looked at this vid for a while, but let me assure you, im not attempting to get into politics or become an actor. i am a little dry but i think i was just reading a bit of crap from wikipedia which i think i mentioned that i was.. i am not jumping on any bandwagon. I do things that most people wouldnt.

  • hi mate

yeah i agree with ya.. they don't even put ban on Diesel here in South Australia. Anyway.. very informative and motivating.. thanks for that.

  • no drama. I'm still plugging along bearing with the public transport in newcastle. To be honest, it is pretty depressing whats happening around us. We have to manage to keep sane and hopefully things will change for the better.

  • This is very interesting. Keep up the good work.

You should look at RES The School for Renewable Energy Science in Iceland.

    Greetings from Iceland!

  • excellent! thanks for the comment. Greetings back at you from australia!

  • Thank you very much for your videos.

  • no dramas. take care. Nick

  • Hi Nick, My name is Nicola, some also call me Nick. But I'm a woman. You can never tell in written form. What do you mean no dramas? I am from Germany and yes, they are pretty good with the environment. I thought USA was the worst polluter next to China. Take care. Nicola

  • LOL.. oh my aussie phrasing is terrible. No dramas just means "cool. It was not a problem for me to make my videos and I hope you enjoyed" Australians are the worst polluters per capita..scary.

  • Well done Nick, Im glad that someone is actually making good use of youtube, Well done from a fellow aussie.

  • thought you might be interested; Germany's success story of tackling global warming with renewable energy sources (how its done); go to google and type in "renewable energy made in germany". regards

  • PS.. as far as I know, Australia is LEADING the per capital energy consumption..that is a sad, sad reality. Not sure if you had a chance to see any of my other videos, but I got our family to change to 100% renewable energy. It feels great.

  • I enjoyed that. I'm also very much into global warming/renewable energy. I'm German + very proud of what my country is doing/pushing for. Glad to see an Australian pushing their government to do something. Last time I checked Australia was in the top 3 of CO2 emission/person. Its no surprise then that the government doesn't want to sign any of the protocols. I believe countries like Australia, US will only change after dramatic environmental consequences. Hopefully it wont be too late!

  • beautiful. thanks for your contributions. I will check out Germany's contributions most definitely. I am proud of anyone who takes enough pride in planet Earth to want things to change. Good for you jb. Take care and rest well knowing your country is cutting edge. Be proud.

    All the best.

  • hmm very interesting, I actually learned something here without being bored xD haha lol, but nice vid man!

  • thanks dKnight! FYI, if your interested i just posted a dream blog on myspace if your up for a decent read.

  • Thank you so much for this video.

Im really interested in natural forms of energy. The downsides that you mentioned for these alternative sources dont really seem all that bad, considering the energy can be stored.

What I dont understand is if there is such a simple solution to energy production, why dont people jump on the oppertunity to help save the enviroment.

  • Unfortunately - they are simple to you and I and not to people with money on their agenda. John D Rockefeller stopped Nikola Tesla's ideas (and actual working towers) that energy could be transmitted via towers. Rockefeller saw the problem that he could not determine peoples' usage (and therefore charge for energy) so he put a stop to it. Thats one example of how money influences what inventions are used or not.

  • Hmm, in my opinion I think we shouldnt have to pay for the basics of life, such as, food, clothing, and shelter.

Lol, thank goodness they cant charge for air. But I truly feel people who are concerned for the enviroment like you and I, are increasing in number everyday, wich means our voice is getting louder and louder. I anticapate a wonderfull change coming soon, :-).

  • I certainly hope so - a change would be nice. Its pretty tough when you know things shouldnt be charged for like food water etc.. but look at how people react in an 'all you can eat bar'.. they are still paying for that yet they eat like filthy pigs! I think more education and limits to how much you can eat would be a good start to that theory.
