THNX SO MUCH!!! IM ARTIST/ PRODUCER/ ENGINEER(student) ... HAD A SESSION LAST NIGHT AND I COULDNT GET AUTOTUNE TO RECORD LIVE. (INPUT MONITORING) FEATURE IN PROTOOLS WASNT SELECTED!…THNX AGAIN.. IM DEF SUBBED!
i find that whether or not you should record with the monitors being autotuned really depends on the situation. i also find that singing with autotune as im recording really makes the dry vocals really off and ugly. but it is true that you can't work it as well because you can't hear the autotune working as you sing. maybe next time you (and i) can try panning dry to one side and processed vocals to the other side.
hey, im looking at a Creative/E-MU 0404 PCI Digital Recording Interface internal sound card...would that do the job for real time and autotune or do i need an external unit like yours...im thinking i should be able just to input a mic straight in right?
"As Denzel says "Explain it to me like I'm a third grader". That is what I was doing. Explaining from every angle. To the more experienced, it may seem like Im "talking too much", but for the more inexperienced, its a very in depth tutorial."
I am addressing a multitude of email questions I get. Take what you can from it, if anything, leave the rest for those who can learn from the ideas and methods.
Also note, you shouldn't actually record at such a low volume like shown in the videos, that was due to the gain staging being used to narrate the video.
Do you really need to use auto tune, i just use the pitch correction thing cubase already gives you. My beat was in Gm like yours but i ended up having to put it in Cm glad you explained that to me I like that little chart thing you have. But i dont record my stuff with the pitch correction already on I'm going to start doing that now. but try that pitch correction and tell me if that works for ya dozerbeatz
As Denzel says "Explain it to me like I'm a third grader". That is what I was doing. Explaining from every angle. Though to the more experienced, it may seem like overkill, for the more inexperienced, its a very in depth tutorial.
Devices Menu>Plugin Information... ensure that the folder too which you installed the plugin, is in the list of folder Cubase looks at too gather installed plugins
@shaboyozzy When installing the plugin, make sure the install path that you select is the path that Cubase is using to look for installed plugins, so Cubase can SEE the plugins. Set the path under Cubase Menu: Devices>Plugin Information>Click on button "VST 2.x Plugin Paths" and make sure your VST plugin folder is there in the list.
great vid..question..really need an answer lolz..should i master my instrumental then re-import that track into my software and record my vocals over it?..because right now i have my instrument tracks all set up and patterned...idk if i should just record my vocals in the project and master everything, or mixdown the instruments seperate
Mix down your instrumental to Stereo(2-Track as they call it) Put in Track 1 of DAW....
Record vocals to the Instrumental mixdown...
When done, mute Track 1(Beat/Instrumental)
Then either rewire with your beat production program, to your program you recorded vocals too, or track out your instrumental tracks, and reimport those tracks into the DAW where you recorded your vocals. Then do your mixing. Once done mixing, mix down the full song. Then master the song.
I got the mixing and mastering DVD, thanks. Man, you could be selling this thing for way more. There is so much info in here. There are people selling tutorials with not even a quarter of the information you are giving. You are a genius man, straight up. Yo everyone, for reals, if you want to up your recording mixing and mastering game, for sure order Dozer's DVD. Dont waste your time trying to figure it all out on your own. Dozer covers it all, equalization, compression, in the greatest detail.
hell yeah homie hookes it up fat ppl b spendin way more to learn everything he says and waisting time to learn the basics at sko n dnt lear as much as he covers up in that shit i ordered the dvd like a month ago and i do my recording hela better now, order his dvd dnt b stupid

Can that Maestro program find the key of various parts of a song if it changes key throughout the song (such as Insight into the Catharsis)?

@ArgentinianTraceur Using autotune in realtime, yes the dry vocals will be off key...
