Thanks to liberal policy the world economy is crashing. We must do two things to stop the meltdown NOW!!! Firstly, we need to raise all payroll taxes 10% for one year. We also need to stop (right now) wasteful handout programs like medicare, social security, unemployment,, etc. and lower the minimum wage to $2/hr so we can compete with China for jobs. I will work with Boehner, Ryan and my other republican colleagues and take immediate action on these proposals. God bless the GOP!

Medicare, like Social Security and every other Government program only proves one thing: That governments generally do a pretty lousy job of running anything!

No one argues that seniors need coverage and care, there has to be a better way to take care of people then asking incompetent bureaucrats to administer billion dollar budgets.

So, could you tell me which insurance company will insure people who are over 65 years old with low rates since older people got sink more often? If you can tell me that particular insurance company that will guarantee the low premium for me when I turn 65, I will support the Ryan Budget Plan.

Oh yes - I definitely agree with you, the purpose of ANY business is to generate a profit. However, government administration of ANYTHING is by its very definition, doomed to waste, fraud and mismanagement. I don't have an answer for the problem, I'm just pointing out the reality. Government administration = incompetence and waste, Private Insurance = profiteering and prohibitively expensive coverage. I would love to see a third solution, but unfortunately - I don't have it.

FEMA - let's remember is NOT a "First Responder" Agency. I have no doubt that FEMA does a lot of good, but let's not forget that it too has had it's share of controversies, mismanagement and waste. I personally take great offense at Government officials flying around in 1st class - on MY dime!

@Stalicone - I'd add that Lou Barletta is an idiot and a hypocrite. He voted to cut funding to this same FEMA and to EPA, as a matter of fact. However, he recently wrote to EPA, asking them to do more testing to find any environmental sources of a potential cancer cluster in Pittston (PA). I'd like to know what do the Koch bothers and all the other special interests, who dictate the policies backed mainly by the republicans in Congress, are doing to help those people in Joplin and Tuscaloosa?

The guy was right though, maybe we should do away with the minimum wage, because that's why Corporations who ship jobs overseas and go to other countries do so. Why pay for example a customer service rep, 7.25 or so per hour or 50+ a day, when they can pay someone in Malaysia, India, Phillipines, Tibet 20 or 10.00 a day? That's why we're losing jobs from people that have so many deductions that the high rate they pay isn't the effective rate.

And don't touch Medicare/SS working peple PAY for it
