Running lights and sirens does not grant you the right of way, to be running through stop signs and stop light is unsafe. On an average the time it takes to stop and clear all intersections is 45 second to 1 minute. So I pose this question to all of you. Is saving that little bit of time woth yours, your fellow crew members, or innocent bistanders their lives? I happen to think its not worth it. if you dont believe me search Michael Montecalvo, he is living proof that its not worth the risk!

If you were to sit at every stop sign and every red light by time u get to the seen if it is a fire it has no escalated to much more, it could have spread to other units, could have no engulfed the whole house their are many diffrent things. Maybe someone was entrapped inside the house...now that person is dead becuase u decided that u wanted to take ur good ole time. This is why we have siren

@JoshuaDCarbon1 Pitch has nearly everything to do with the action of the Q or any other siren. A surprising number of people are tone-def at certain levels. Many of which can't distinguish a peaked siren for what it really is. The Q is meant to be wound up, then coast back down.

Tunnel Vision...they probably never realized that they were laying on the Q after they heard the word "fire"...kinda scarey if you ask me. Before jumping in the driver seat to drive to a fire you should take a few deep breaths to calm yourself and clear your head. The fire is still gonna be there when you get there. shoot on some our our trucks, the driver/operator/engineer whatever you would like to call them, has the horn and the Q some one or the other on each side, never figured it out though why

Because the Engineer doesn't need the distraction of running them when they're busy keeping the rig rolling safe, (while avoiding potential hazards). The Officer in the right seat normally operates the sirens, & radios, etc in most cases.

I am a firefighter and I love the Q2B, but there is a right way and a wrong way to respond. Sitting on the Q the whole time is useless. Ever wonder why electronic sirens are not just a constant loud whistle? This is just noise and does not help.

Code one is a term to describe a call the you are NOT going to yet, say an alarm test or building inspection, stuff you ill schedule into your day. Only the call itself can be code 1 and only while it's on your code 1 sheet. When you pull a code 1 off the sheet and show yourself 10-8 the call becomes code 2. just so you know robertgift, your only counted as an emergency vehicle if your sirens and/or q's are on. lights don't mean anything, and, if someones coming around a blind corner, what happens then? hmm? idk. they swing out, and a possible mva results. not only that, but its better to give warning to drivers on the other side, and in front. More accidents happen when you don't have the sirens or Q's on.

Can be helpful for traffic and intersection warning.

Q kept peaked may not sound to others like a siren.

Also, if the same pitch at which someone is deaf, they will not hear it.

So keep it sweeping up and down to get many frequencies.

Far too much noise pollution - warning people in the homes and businesses but not traffic which is not there.

Powercall is worthless POS with Q.

Never count on the siren. Deaf drivers and others may not hear it.
