Analog recording is not going anywhere, just like the automotive tire.It just works better than anything that will ever come along.Digital will always sound like shit.Just a bench tech buzz word that millions of morons buy into everyday.lmfao.Tubes will always rule. Some things just cannot be replaced.I have an Otari mx5050 studio roll around that may need a few things fixed or checked out.Know of any place near las vegas?OR in ca etc. Thanks
In 1972 the BBC put on several exhibitions in London for their 50th anniversary. One of these was a technical one at Mullard House in Torrington Place. There was a 1 inch 8 track there, used in a quadraphonic demonstration, usually to be heard playing a recording of the Proms. Elsewhere in the same exhibition was a then new Ampex AVR-1 VTR, usually playing a Morcambe and Wise Christmas show. Can this really be almost 40 years ago now?
How is the project going? A80’s have the coolest transports! I just bought an Ampex 440 8

Hello,
How are things going? Is this an "RC" version? If so, did you consider the "VU" version as well? Congrats :-)
