I watched Zico in the 80's--before or since, I've never seen so many goalkeepers just *watch* free kicks enter the net--so many times their feet never moved, they just turned and watched the ball enter the corner. The kick was that perfect.

In Brazil Zico is the third soccer player everytime after Pelè and Garrincha ( and I'm not so much sure for Garrincha as second ). Granted, Roberto Carlos of course is a very big player and the best brazilian left lateral defender everytime... but Zico was head and shoulders better than Roberto Carlos, no doubt about this

@Daniel96sj I actually know both of them and the first they are very different. Zico preferred kick the ball with the inner part of the foot while Roberto Carlos is one of the most specialist of the three last finger shot. He shots with the outside of the foot, but in these type of shots he can't know where the ball exactly goes. Granted! Roberto Carlos is a professionist so he of course can send the ball where he wants, but Zico was precise at millimeter. ( follows)

I suggest you to watch the Eder Aleixo free kick against Argentina in 1982 which producted the first goal by Zico. Eder could kick a LEATHER ball at the speed of 174.5. The free kick technique was the same used by R. Carlos (follows)

albeit Roberto Carlos can give more curl to the ball. Also Rivelino Roberto Dinamite and Claudio Branco knew how to take free kicks with the outside part of the foot. I also suggest you to watch the most difficult free kick in the football history. Please, watch Maradona free kick against Juventus in Juventus vs Napoli in 1985. He shot in Zico style. I'm pretty sure you found that easy, but I can ensure you that is not like that. I'm not polemic.

Nilton Santos, Carlos Alberto, Everaldo and Junior were FAR BETTER than him, especially Nilton Santos. Roberto is very good attacking, but ridiculous defending.

for you guys, zico was vetter than pele at free kick shoots , more than maradona, for guy that says maradona outclass pele, just see ovious facts: pele could head much better, had a stronger shoot, was stronger and faster. and even though he played in a team full with champions, the only 10 was him..and after1970 even with jairzinho , rivelino,socrates,zico,falcao,­branco,bebeto,romario also(he played 1990)brazil couldn't won a world cup in 24 years! no one could occupy pele's place succesfully
