I first heard 10'000 days, the album, and since then I've been loving everythong that I hear fro. Them, old or new, I have no idea what people arguing about... Sellouts? 10'000 days is incredibly unique sounding and got all the progelements that i like other tool songs for. and what Ive found the have done nothing that count them as sellouts. BUT WHAT THE HECK IS KIRK DOING THERE? HE's LOUSY!!!!
Lol wow at the flame war going on. Tool are not sell outs, not at all. I saw them back in '06 and Kirk played Sober with them as well.
@Big77Jim their music is so unique that it's hard to classify. They definitely have a heavy prog influence and they're heavy at times. To me they're more like prog/metal/alternative. They may not play with the Dream Theater technical ability (those guys are on a league of their own) but their music is very intricate and complex.
@twowheels808 I dont know man, Tool's time signatures are right up there with Dream Theater. Different as far as type of music but a lot in common as far as style and how danny moves around in the pocket.
Is Tool Prog/metal?I think the music is at times but the vocals are not.I do think Tool is the best thing going in the industrial scene. Are they as good as Dream Theater or Symphony X?Technically not but they are still great.
This show was okay but if I recall it seemed like they were having some problems mixing the sound for the first 30 minutes or so. The band seemed like they were a little frustrated at it. This was definitely one of, if not the highlight of the whole night.
This is also probably the highest quality sound of this medley I've found so far, thank you. I wish I had the phone I do now when they played.
@homelessnigra because they tapping into the mainstream and losing touch with their old selves. their stage stunts are pointless although he tries to put meaning into them. their music is still good but them as people arent as great as they used to be. just my opinion though
@dopefiend138 listen to you judging people like that...you obviously arent a fan anyway. besides, this isnt their first star collaboration. what about deftones and chino? it goes back further than that. henry rollins? get a grip dude.
@dopefiend138 yeah they really tapped into the mainstream...as evidenced by what? all those albums they put out? yeah, right. the million times you hear them on the radio? yeah, maybe sober. using their music in hollywood and commercials? nope....so tell me, how have they tapped into the mainstream any more than ever? now i know why they wrote the song "hooker with a penis". for you.
@c9castine i am a fan. i just dont like what they do now. pointless stage stunts that are supposed to be "deep" and having a guest appearence from the sellout kings themselves, metallica's kirk hammet. idk why you care tho. you seem like the average "im always right" tool fan
@dopefiend138 you sound like the average "ah they sold out, not as good anymore" fan. what do you mean you dont know why i care? its a public forum...people discuss shit here and thats what i am doing. i dont care what your opinion is really, but when you say things like that i feel compelled to point out that they act the same as they always have, and i backed my point up with examples. also, listen to yourself..."them as people arent as great as the used to be"....wtf does that mean?
@dopefiend138 i should aslo mention that while i like metallica's music a lot, your right THEY are sellouts. douchebags. but id say thats more hetfield than anybody else. they are all guilty, but then again your guilty of being a judgmental ignoramus. like i said, hooker with a penis. everybody wants to love musicians work but nobody wants them to profit. i guess they are supposed to play in bars and record CDs on their home desktop for the rest of their lives.
@c9castine when did i say that musicians shouldnt recieve money they deserve? why is it wrong for me to think less of a band when they do pointless stage stunts and care less about their music? maynard delayed working on the next album to work on his wine. i understand hes human and needs his own time but when hes not a draq queen for a perfect circle hes making wine. i actually care about the music so doing stupid shit like that will make me lose respect for them
@dopefiend138 your hopeless. "i understand hes human and needs his own time...making wine doing stupid shit" because you care about the music and they dont? you sound like such an ignorant tool. the band doesnt owe you anything. they are artists, you either like what they put out or you dont. they dont owe you more material. your a waste of life. "i actually care about the music"...hahahaha. they never had any respect for you!
@c9castine when did i say that they have to spew out albums? i WISH they spent more time on 10,00 days because that album is horrible excluding vicarious and jambi. from your last comment you sound like a troll. the only good thing thats coming out of this is that you cant defend tool. i defended my point but you still accuse me of crap and insult me. grow up
@dopefiend138 10,000 days was great. It could've been better. It was kind of a lazy effort on Tool's part, but good nonetheless. Don't worry, young grass smoker. The next album will be better.
@c9castine There is a balance that needs to be maintained. The only way to put out a record is to pay for it to be made and created. People should understand and respect this fact. It's when wealthy musicians do ad's for mcdonalds that the line needs to be drawn.
IF ANYONE CAN CONTACT TOOL THE BAND PLEASE EMAIL ME I HAVE A GREAT NEW TOOL LOGGO I HAVE CREATED MY SELF MAYBE THEY LIKE IT I CANT SHOW IT FOR COPYRIGHT REASONS ILOVE TOOL IT IS FROM MY INSPIRATION PLEASE HELP ME LOCATE THE BAND TOOL, IM FOR REALS EVERYONE WILL LOVE MY LOGGO SPECIALLY ON THE ROCK SHIRTS
I LOOOOOOOOOOOVe Tool, and I love Metallica, but this was pretty lame about a minute into it. TOOL should have done more than their 4 count gallup for the whole thing, it had no flavor, and Kirk couldn't have hit more bad notes if he tried.
@EddieVanHillbilly hes diff guitarist than adam, adams farout in guitar playin kirk rocks his own shit an plays fast but adam an tools about timing an control of guitar an all sound period but idk bout kirk fuck it just havin fun hes no adam jones tho
@twowheels808 ahh... My name is Shinn and I was just wondering if there were 2 Shinn's in Hawaii now. lol... It's a rare name. I went to the Hawaii shows in 2006. GREAT shows. This one looked epic as well, but I am deployed now. Really sad I missed them. Good vid though!
@payitforward27 its comin soon when they damn well please been 5 years i want it too but the longer the wait the better the music for them u cant rush art and they def. wont
Loved Kirk forever but what i love most about TOOL and particularly Adam's playing, is that he doesn't sound like someone jerking off the neck of the guitar. Being a long time guitar player myself, i love how understated Adam's solos are on each song and on each album. Adam tends to put more emotion and soul through simplicity and by using bends and sustain in lieu of rapid, multiple scales. Kirk's the man but he's a wrong ingredient in the recipie that is TOOL. Again, i love Kirk... Aloha!
The best band in the world with Kirk Hammett one of the best guitarist...i woulda went crazy if I saw this live...Kirk and Adam jamming together...wow
I kind of be upset if I showed up to see my favorite band and they soiled one of their songs by throwing Metallica in the mix. But hey, that's just me, I don't like Metallica...
If they only played "for whom the bell TooLs" ;D
