  • is that redman at 3:28?

  • 90s hip hop >

  • I like the LA version betterr.......

  • thumbs up if you watched Peter Gunz & Cory Gunz #IFWT Freestyle w/ DJ Mike Sessions before this

  • this is BUMPIN

  • 42 dislikes dont know that the 90's was the best decade ever.

  • I love the use of Shea Stadium as Yankee Stadium

  • Heard this song a decade ago, then I heard Hips Don't Lie about 5 years later, which reminded me of this. Then, recently I got into Steely Dan, heard the song Black Cow, where the main sample of this song is from, and remembered it again.

Funny how things like that work.

  • Rapper coming straight out of queens ny..on the come up..needs heavy support from you guys..please give this artist a chance like Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz were givin a chance...just search lou i made a choice Lou i made a choice Lou i made a choice Lou i made a choice Lou i made a choice Lou i made a choice Lou i made a choice Lou i made a choice Lou i made a choice Lou i made a choice Lou i made a choice

  • The style back then was gangsta...it was before rims became big or something rims are stock...

  • whats the song in the very begining?

  • @playdoughcannon that's the same sample Wyclef used for Shakira's - Hips don't lie

  • @playdoughcannon Jerry Rivera - Amores Como El Nuestro

  • man the 90`s nothing like it nothing like the 90`s will ever happen again because of these fucking young kids that look up yo lil wayne and shit this is real music and how its done much respect to the ol school

  • @olschooltillidie are you a tit or what? There is plenty of good hip hop around now if you look outside the charts. Check out Kendrick Lamar, Jay Electronica and Doppelgangaz for a start

  • If manhattan dont count, what about HARLEM.

  • god damnit i use to hate this song...and still do. Just one of those groups i hated back in the day.

  • I remember this in high school!!! New York know it got some sexy and fine brothas!!!!

  • why arent there more views for this?

  • Donald Fagen approved this?

  • Okeephoss, I remember reading a story about how angry this group was about being charged 10 times the normal sampling fee for the rights to that sample. I distinctly remember them saying something about how nobody even knew about who Steely Dan were. Quite deliciously ironic that Steely Dan won album of the year a few years later and these guys disbanded.

  • This beat came from Steely Dan. They have a song called Black Cow. Search for it yourself or copy + paste this: watch?v=_pJ2iw9xieo

    I like both songs :)

  • cuddu cunnu se mi piace questa canzone arrò du gooooo

  • texas lol nooo

  • booooring......... --_--

  • niggas dont know bout this shit !

  • 40 People aren't from uptown

  • RESPECT!

  • Sweet my name is Tariq! i must be a lord! lol!

  • brooklyn faggot ass niggas

  • I'm a Steely Dan fan but they didn't have to sue the hell out of these niggas.

  • @donself78 I wondered about that. I am gonna google that because I always thought they must of paid a pretty penny for it unless they didnt pay for it at all & according to you, they didnt. ha. Shit, I would sue too! U aint jacking me for my shit, no permission,no nothing. Fuckouttahere. Certain songs shouldnt be sampled & Black Cow is one of em however LT and PG did they thang on it.

  • @BrooklynBizznezzHappy Black Friday homey, but the reason i heard they got sued was when the song came out in 97 the vinyl was poppin in New York before Columbia actually paid for the sample. By the time their album came out in 98 the publishing credits for "Deja Vu" said written by Donald Fagen & Walter Becker with no mention of Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz Or KNS( The Producer) still in the production credits KNS name is mentioned. The Same thing Happened with Fabolous's Breathe & Supertramp. Peace

  • peter gunz is not from uptown he's from soundview re$pect tho

  • real shit

  • Yeah every one shud know the yankees(steinbrenners) didnt let this great vid happen n yankee stad,.... it was filmed in SHEA STADIUM.....think about it...your hip hop is not gud enuff 4 the great yankees, they dont want u... a song reppen bx not allowed n yankkee stadium...but the METS dont hate ....we let ur bx boys do it here cause we get down baby........yanks suck

  • THEE JAM from 19 HOW LONG!

  • Peter Gunz was kinda cute though......

  • Classic hit

    Cleveland ohio

  • Sick ... love the Steely Dan sample!!!

  • "That wasn't Yankee stadium. That was the Mets home field... Shea or Citi field."

0:05-0:32--well, that sure as fuck wasn't The Citi! Not in '97, anyway! LOL! And I'm beginning to miss Shea now too, man. Even though I am a true blue Bombers fan. Hey the Yanks did play in Shea in '74, '75 & for awhile in '98 (and you already know why!). It was based in QU, but Shea was a huge part of NYC as a whole if 'ya ask me. Flying by it on that Grand Central or Van Wyck...real NYC peeps know what it is.

  • Still a good track!

  • That wasn't Yankee stadium. That was the Mets home field... Shea or Citi field.

  • ya'll look up the video black friday by shaun sluggs. it's featuring lord tariq. it's a brand new 2011 vid. tariq still got it!

  • i wonder what happened to peter...i always belived he was better the jay z

  • @onkletom83 his son is actually Cory Gunz signed to lil waynes label

  • @madmandaniel wow!

  • not filthy rich, but bitch i barely broke/ blessed with my flows, that keep ya hooked like dope

  • boooo the censored version :/

  • Fuck hips dont ly that shit is weak kid.

  • Brings back the golden era of rap!

  • This song never gets old. New York New York

  • as soon as those trumpets kicked i was like "no way...." i forgot about this one

  • ny forever

  • Bronx is were it all started

  • in the first couple seconds of the song (the horn part) was used by someone/something else and its really bothering me.. anyone know what im talking about?

  • @keane733 Shakira song forget the name but the only one i can think of besides the original sample.

  • @keane733 bagpipes i think

  • Shakira & Wy Clef, "Hips dont Lie"

  • @asyazy jerry rivera amores como el nuestro thats the original one shakira and wycleff sampled this song

  • Shout-outs to Big Pun

  • the 90 was the shit like it or love but dont hate it.

  • By the way--0:01--when was that shot of the good ol' stadium taken? I'm just curious. It's obvious they shot this video in the boroughs when it was cold, by about late-'97. (Seems like they were actually in Shea.) But I'm guessing they took the shot (0:01), looking Northeast, long before the unfortunate '97 A.L. Division Series (where we blew it to the Cleveland "Mistake by the Lake" Indians; and in turn, they REALLY blew the 1997 Series to the 4 1/2-year old fuckin' Marlins! :D)...

    Correct?

  • @BrooklynEagle - yeah the inside shots were Shea stadium... they couldn't get approval from Steinbrenner's crew if I remember correctly.

  • 0:01-2:39--1998 World Champion New York Yankees!!!!!

  • This fuckin' joint, man...still puts a smile on my hairy (I envy Brian Wilson's fuzz--SERIOUSLY! Lol!!!) Kings County face. I remember when I first heard it on 97 (when they really did get shit "HOT") back in '97. Hearing those fuckin' horns really did put a crazy Kool-Aid smile on my face. Because I knew we were officially back in business. Meaning NYC rap... B.I.G of course had been gone for a minute by late-1997, and the "No Way Out" joints were starting to fizzle a bit. We needed this, man.

  • classic east coast rap!!!

  • ............never gets old.

  • the beginning reminds of hips dont lie

  • @McFresh54 Yeah, but this was first. But I'm sure it sampled it from somewhere. Don't know where though.

  • @LOSTHOMEY1 black cow by steely dan, song goes hard

  • Thumbs Up If Yhuu From Tha Bronx!! :-)

  • omg.. i forgot about this song. heard it on my cable music station and went back in tha day... oh yeahhhh...

  • Who's that chick ? 1:21 does anyboby know?

  • If I were them I would have said fuck Shea Stadium and just shoot the video in the Bronx.....

  • Why they film that video in shea stadium tho?

  • Comment removed

  • This was my joint in 98, when every girl down south had to have a NY brother..<3

  • Check out the song ' Black Cow' by ' Steely Dan' and you immediately know from what song that dope bass line comes from.

  • Classic 90's video and the debut video from Chris Robinson

  • AHHHHHHH 90'S NOSTALGIA !! Fat Flashbacks Oh Man!!

  • Comment removed

  • @yabetterbringit Nobody likes a snob.

  • Steinbrenner did not approve of filming yet he okayed the logo on the shirts. Smart jew, it's called free propaganda. Anyways, where are you now Stein? Now you are a roadie for the devil!

  • South Bronx Stand Up... even if the video was filmed at Shea Stadium ((SMDH)). Maybe Steinbrenner wouldnt let them film inside Yankee Stadium? I also heard Steely Dan was upset about the sample when he heard the finished song, but had already given permission (and gotten paid) for the sample. No matter. Another Bronx anthem along with "South Bronx" and "Lean Back" ((shrugging))

  • New York niggaz got crazy game

But outta town niggaz is all the same

    Brooklyn niggaz get crazy loot

That's because when it's beef they ain't scared to shoot

Harlem niggaz know how to play

Mack the 600, gettin crazy pay

Niggaz outta Queens got shit on lock

Strapped with the glock, runnin up in yo' spot

  • thumbs up if ur from New York City

  • new york city doesnt exist anymore. Theres nothing but rich yuppies and cops everywhere there.

  • @KripDrip hah where are you living? Because Queens, Harlem, Bronx, Manhattanville, Morning Side Heights & still most of Brooklyn do not fit your description.

  • @KripDrip Manhattan doesn't count when it comes to the boroughs in my eyes... Go to the places that aren't on a tour map and maybe you will see some culture.

  • I heard a Boston version of this a long time ago.

  • @rasd1d2 - Yes! Tariq and Gunz had a Tidewater Virginia version and a Boston version. Im from the Bronx and I moved to Boston in 98 and the Boston version was on heavy rotation that Summer. Good Marketing. Nowadays, local artists just remake a song and put it right on the internet. There is a Boston version of Empire State (Bay State of Mind) and Black and Yellow (about the Bruins) Hah!

  • I like Black and Yellow, but never heard of the Bay State of Mind. My wife loves the original, and we are from Boston - so she will be psyched. Thanks!

  • A song about the Bronx shot at a Queens stadium hahaha...classic record though, this song was everywhere that summer...Peter performed this song at the Rakim/EPMD show last sunday in Central Park, nostalgic as hell...

speaking of nostalgia, the "Queens School of Hard Knocks" shirt Fatman Scoop has on was big in Queens back then...

  • lords vers is in my top 20 best verse every

  • i remember this

  • How yall saying the lyrics wack. Back then there werent too many lyricist so in the 90s this was the shit but if yall gon compare it to todays lyricist then yea its wack.

  • @tyolds88 there werent too many lyricist so in the 90s? wow are you 12 or 13? were you even alive in the 90s? best hip hop artists ever came from the late 80's and 90's. get your history right

  • @mattrob82 what I meant was you compare todays lyricist to one in da 90s and yea they gon say the one from 90s was trash excluding the few like biggie, pun , jay, nas ,etc. you said 80s right okay take slick rick compare him to wayne and everybody gon say wayne nicer even tho slick was considered nice in da 80s. so why dont u whoo saa and calm down.

  • @mattrob82 FO SHO!!

  • @tyolds88

was ur mom smokin crack when she was pregnant with you. 2000s rappers lyricist???kid the best rappers were from the time period 1984 -2003 the golden age of hip hop what's coming out from 2004-present is left overs

  • ... national anthem of the world ... ? ...

  • up-town is the place where i lay my dome

  • Lord Tariq definitely ripped it.

  • Guess they couldn't book Yankee stadium so they settled for Shea.

  • Thumbs up if you were waiting for Wyclef John to go "Shakira, Shakira" after the intro horns.

  • New york stand up!

  • yo is that big pun up in there?

  • Have your black cow!

  • Who is the announcer at the beginning of the video?

  • @IIAloisII Wyclef Jean

  • I'm a Philly guy, but this was my shit back in the day.

  • Didn't they make a number of local versions? I know there was a Boston version of this song.

  • This video will always make my day....man, I miss the 90's : (

  • I love the camera angle when they have it posted on the boom an allow it to rotate all while staying on point. Shit hot cuz tarik n gunz got there eyes focused on that shit the whole time.

  • @mrkeitt me too yo, i call it "the cypher shot" great song and video! some legendary cameos in here

  • @Pezreh plz keep the negative comments to urself !

  • @Pezreh peter's son cory gunz wrote that when he was a kid

  • @dyazmovies how do u know?

  • @brennanthebrown he said it in an interview and it's cory's kind of rhyming style

  • @dyazmovies oh true

  • @Pezreh dont criticize that one line. Its a great clasic song. Try naming your favorite rappers today and pick their best lines.

  • @Pezreh I don't think its as a bad as Dr Dre saying "never let me slip, cause if I slip, then I'm slipping..."

  • @Pezreh How?

  • @Pezreh u a hater bro. peter gunz all day.

  • @bprochnow1 Criticism can't be dismissed by a cop-out excuse like calling a person a "hater"; the only people that do that either lack the mental capacity to articulate a proper defense or know that they really can't.

  • @Pezreh I've heard worse. God help me, I've heard worse.

  • @Pezreh haha true. but the delivery and flow is on point so he gets away with it!

  • @Pezreh like father like son

  • @Pezreh they were one hit wonders for a reason lol

  • @Pezreh you misheard...he didn't say niggers, he said niggas.

  • This jam has nothing but All-Stars through out the video!

  • edited...

  • Thats the same damn video camera in Mya's Best of Me vid. The camera that they probly had to lift up a leg so it goes under em lmao.

  • @Pobby1000 Glad I didn't have to dig too far for a shout out to Steely Dan. "Black Cow" appears on SD's "Aja" album. This song was built for a sample.
