@79Testo sorry about the beaver going missing. I always use a heavy No ( wire to wire my traps.) I believe the beaver will come up but its in the river so you will have to search it out. Also it may be stuck in the mouth of its hut. It will take some searching but it is possible to find it. Good luck. I gotta get off the trees and make some Christmas cash in the water. Merry Christmas. Let me know if you find it.
River is 25 feet wide and deep. Gonna be real hard if not impossible to find. Antis out there. Damn those manufacturers that don't put aircraft cable with swivel on 330's.
I was told it most likely sank to the bottom of the river and has gone no more than 20 feet downstream as per an experienced trappers advice. He said go no more than 30 feet downstream. Use a fish hook with rope and go hooking to find it
We have some freeze over here but not like up North. Just cold enough to make some good fur. I usually keep to the upper reaches. That big water trapping is tough, I use the castor mound set with a drowning wire slide #4 bridger double long spring. Conibears are good in runs but Long springs are priceless in the big water. (as a note people will steal a long spring in a minute. Hide that baby well, I usually sift some light mud coating under the water on it and it better not be a shiny trap
lost a potential beaver last night in my 330...went back this morning at 6 am to find it and gone. I searched into 4 feet deep water, it was raining and river was moving slightly faster. I'm a newbie and this was my first beaver set up. I never tied the trap down as there is no chain on a 330. bank was hard to stake trap well....one side staked better than the other and the one stake was gone this morning....
Bad audio, can barely hear the guy

@beavertrapper068
I'm new to trapping, how do you get the stakes to stick into the ice. How far down does the lake or river you trap in freeze?
Do you go all the way inside the river/lake to set your trap in those water outfits?
