i know it was a better ride, the only excuse they tore it down for was they wanted a new rollercoaster, but they didn't have enough land to build so they remade it into a hyper coaster by eliminating all inversions and making it shorter, not as fun but it has more air time up and down the hills the phantom's revenge has a longer second hill at 232 ft and a faster speed at 85mph but it's not as big of a thriller.
@caveman66794 Look at 3:07. That's why they got rid of it. Arrow Dynamics is known for having some bumpy coasters, and when you're going 80 mph around that turn, it could leave you needing a neck brace. Now I'm not saying that I wouldn't have rode this, I deathly wish I did when I had the chance, but that's why they took the second half out, cause of the headbanging. And Phantom's Revenge is definitely a blast.
@jslim39 actually it's been said by many people that is the reasoning however it isn't, when speaking with Kennywood officials, they say they needed a new coaster for marketing, and had no space in the park, and while this coaster was amazing, the line was always short on the hotter days, especially after the 1996 season, and officials, as well as ride engineers discovered that riders will typically come back if there are less inversions (upside down)
@caveman66794 Well yeah the the ride's popularity was dwindling, mostly due to the roughness, therefore that's what led Kennywood's officials to make the decisions you pointed out.
Nice video, too bad the Hennigers and the McSwigans nolonger own Kennywood. Looks like they were just starting to rip up the old parking lot for the Lost Kennywood section when they filmed part of that video.
I reall felt that they should have left in the loops,
