There are some 90's stuff I like. I think I stopped watching in between 1995 and 1997 (around the ages of 13 and 15, I was born in 1982). The only thing I didn't care much for in the 1990's was the change of theme song.
This episode is a metaphor. Sally is Jerry Spinger. The Kitten=Pussy=Prostitute. Grouch fucks prostitute, prostitute won't leave, Grouch searches for her pimp, falls in love with prostitute.
But what I would absolutely die to see is an upload of the episode where they celebrate Grouch Appreciation Day. Now there was a rare episode in which the inserts took second place to the street scenes. So, if anyone has that or episodes with one of the three grouches I just mentioned, don't hesitate. Bring 'em on!
Another notable grouch was Oscar's brother Earnest. He has his own page on Muppet Wiki. I'd love for somene to upload the episode when he came to visit. Two other grouches not on the Wiki are the grouch magician known as the Great Blacchini ("Ala Sour Grapes!") and Old YuckDonald from the story "The Grouches Who Lost All Their Pickles". It would be great if someone could upload those episodes as well.
I loved the older episodes of Sesame Street! The newer 1s r ok but when Sesame 1st started this show was awesome (sorry if I offended anyone by this comment) ^_^
I hate that opening title. I miss the old one. I think they changed it just a little bit after I stopped watching it. (I have two younger sisters so we probably watched it for a while.)
I last watched the show when I was five years old, which was by the time this became the new opening sequence. But this was the opening used when my little brother watched the show. It was cute at first, but then got annoying.
I know that in 1992, besides introducing the Calypso opening theme and "dancing city" credits, they also changed the Monsterpiece Theater and Super Grover title cards.
I loved this. Sally Messy Yuckyael is so grouchy I like her. I like her glasses her necklace and her mic. She has her hair in such a messy hairstyle in grouchy bunches it suits her and she is so grouchy like Oscar. I like Sally Messy Yuckyael she rocks did Fran Brill do the voice for Sally Messy Yuckyael?
"Sesame Street" finally got another new opening sequence! It's more of a hip-hop version with grungy NYC animation and a lot of Muppets. It isn't that great, but at least it's not cheesy like this Calypso opening!
I don't blame Elmo for this. I blame parents that Bubble wrap their kids so they don't get hurt, and don't let them even eat cereal cuz it's too unhealthy.
Well, I for one LOVE this opening theme and the wonderful "Around the Corner" years. Heck, it's my childhood. And for all who can't handle the wonderful 90's Sesame Street, ...get a fucking life.
Sounds like those grouches must've influenced you. :) Seriously, it's just a TV show...no need to get so snippy.
As for my thoughts: The 1992-93 season was still good (this episode's a classic for sure), and I actually kinda like the opening sequence, even though it signaled the end of an era. The "Around the Corner" era is when the show started to go downhill for me, but I'd still take those years over the 1998-present episodes any day.
Yeah, but I still got to see some classic stuff during that period. I know they even showed an early 1990s "Mysterious Theater" skit in a 1999 episode. After that, those skits were never rerun.
This is the Sesame Street theme song I grew up on. Man, why can't Sesame Street be like it used to be? 60-minute plot, hilarious shorts, and fun songs. Ah, well, we got the classics.
AHHHH in the intro my sister is in sesame street in that scene of the baseball one. she is in the pink dress at the fence!!! also she was in big bird on doing a play of bye bye birdie if people remember that! whats that title called like i am not kidding
I never liked what they started doing to the opening theme in the mid-90's. And as a kid I didn't like Mr. Hanford- I thought he was grumpy a lot. But maybe that's why he took such an interest in Oscar? hehe
"Go away! Wubba Wubba! Go chase a mouse!"
I love Oscar, he cracks me up! This is my kinda street scene! Oscar the Grouch and a cute wittle kitten. Two of my favorite things!

No, actually, Louise Gold, who also had a cameo as the owner of the kitten that Oscar found provides the voice for Sally

You know, it true, "You don't know what you got 'til it's gone." This theme is one of those cases.

Honestly I can't stand the intro theme in this. Also by the time this came out Elmo started becoming annoying.
wattamack4 4 years ago 2
And the ironic thing is, when they retired that intro in 1998 and went back to the old theme song, they introduced "Elmo's World" during that season!
wiley207 4 years ago
Yeah, and by then almost ALL 80's material was retired.
