Wow, what a game this was by Anand. Such a great tactical player and of late combined with his positional prowess, he has become a monster of a player. A truly universal player who can create havoc with great tactical punches or can defend stubbornly in difficult positions.
A great player and a true gentleman. Hats off to the champion.
Wish his reign as WC continues for many more years to come. Best of Luck Anand!
These "stings" are damn devastating and not too much fun when you are on the receiving end. They really ruin a good game when you do something clever only to realize you walked into your opponent's trap, lol.
Thanks Kingcrusher. I look forward to your video after every game. Your voice is clear and your analysis is easy to follow. I just have one suggestion. Could you stop rotating the board so that white is at the bottom all the time. This way, you won't be giving away the winner :). The main advantage is that it is easy to follow the opening moves since chess books always use white at bottom to illustrate games. I am so used to it that I keep white at bottom when I play black against the computer.
Hard play.Anand has grown greatly after suffering defeats from Kasparov and Karpov at his previous attempts to gain the chess crown.Speaking about Kramnik, one may imagine Bobby Fischer commenting his decision to go into "enemy's territory" once again by saying:"He has character".That's the same character, the fighter's spirit that Bobby himself was praised for.
i have two questions: Why didnt Kramnik play Kh4f5+ giving a check while using the pin between rook an king? Looks good for me..
2nd: Why didnt he play queen takes e6 check before taking the queen of anand. This way he would gain another pawn... Thanks for the video and your answers
now that we`re seeing more exciting sharp fights i would have loved for this thing to go at least 24 games as the way it was in the days of Karpov vs Kasparov !!, any other way would be uncivilized .
Of course Games 3 and 5 were both exciting and instructive. But at this point the outcome of the match can be attributed primarily to Anand's superior preparation in the Slav. If that's all we have to look forward to in terms of decisive games, then 12 is enough. Hopefully Kramnik will come back and prove me wrong, but at this point I just don't see it happening. As for Anand, 2 wins for black in a world championship match is extremely impressive imo.
Anand just won game #6 as well, and primarily due to playing better in the middle and endgame... so yeah, maybe 24 would've been better, on the other hand it's 4,5 - 1,5 now; if Anand would continue this streak for the last half of the match as well, Kramnik would only lose more face in the other 12 matches :P
To get back to the initial 12 vs 24 games; I thought they wanted a new worldchampion every year now and that that was the cause of only half of the amount of games.
The plan is for a title match every two years after 2010, when consolidation of the title is complete.
The last 24-game title match was Kasparov-Short in 1993. Then it went to 20 games in 1995, then 16 in 2000, then 14 in 2004, and finally 12 in 2006 and 2008. (Of course I'm not counting 1990s after Kasparov left.) The reduction to 12 games coincided with a tiebreaker system.
Of course Anand is beating the crap out of him now (Game 9 currently in progress).

This game is a huge psychological blow to kramnik which costs him game 6 as well. Remarkable game by anand! Looking forward today's game 7!

game 3 was crap because kramnik flipped out.
game 5 was great because anand actually beat kramnik, that was probably kramnik's best game so far.
game 6 was crap because kramnik passed out again.
we are witnessing the end of kramnik. bring on anand v topalov/karjakin/carlsen in 3 years time.

notice that anand hasnt castled in any of his games so far
pavank319 3 years ago 6
He's castled in games 1 and 4 I think, that's 2 out of 6 games. He hasn't castled in the ones he's won though.

Yes I agree with you there. I would prefer not to know who's won before the game is analysed myself. That would make it more exciting.

I don't get the first question but the answer to the 2nd one is he ends up a piece down. He needs black to use a move to get the queen.

After a stodgy start, the match has really come to life. Brilliant sacrifices by Anand. A game worthy of a world champion.
