  • bra arpeggio :)

  • I gotta say, I'd prefer listening to the Twin play that beast

  • @PantherFox There must be a way of solving this dilemma.

  • like the sound from the who´s "baba o´riley"

  • It has some similarities...!

  • nice 3-manual!

  • Its pretty good...!

  • The only piece of machinery I would glady insert my penis into.

  • I have to warn you...It gets pretty hot in there...!

  • OH MY GOD !

Wow what a machine. I wonder how many were made ?

I know there must be some churches out there that own one. Time to go hunting !

  • The unofficial count is 13 or 14 but there must have been more made than that...I have a hard time imagining a gx-1 just getting lost somewhere. You usually notice them when you see them...

  • Only 13-14 ! *tears off his clerical collar

So much for that idea. Thats a very low number for something made by Yamaha. But then again, its not exactly your average synth.

Just amazing. I believe if you open it up you will find that it is run on the lost souls of previous owners who lost theirs tweaking it, for a solid month non-stop.

  • I think there is one coming up for sale on Ebay fairly soon. I think the price will be around 30 - 40 000 euros. Start saving. Or sell a kidney.

Maybe I should get another one. One for the studio and one for touring...

  • Oh my kidney is already sold. Lmao.

Hell, im trying to save up just for an hour in your studio ! Lmao.

  • A decent bottle of whiskey would do nicely thank you !

  • It sounds awesome, way better than whatever Abba could have done with it. Great playing.

  • I wouldnt go that far...but it is fun to hear the synth being used in a different type of music...

  • Couldn't you have chosen a better piece to demonstrate this awesome hardware?

    - c.a.t.

  • The idea was to show the instrument being used by a band I was working with at the time...in a song they were recording..

    I am sorry.

  • Synthzilla!

  • It devours little synths for breakfast

  • Oh, Baba O'Reilly. :o)#

  • Nice.

  • You should check out his old band, celestine.

  • I will, I just jotted it down. In this modern age I still like to have a low-tech biro next to the computer. It reminds me of a song, I think by the Who. If I find out I'll let you know.

  • It's my uncle. :D

  • Cool uncle.

  • Your uncle knows how to play synthesizer, all right.

  • All uncles should be like that...Softspoken and with a very large analog keyboard that sounds like tuned butterflies to octaves down.

  • i got a GX-1 hooked on to my M1.

    thats how i roll baby.

  • I take it that it would mean very slow and expensive, baby ?

  • It is still Benny Anderssons and as far as I know he has no plans to sell it or ride a motorcycle.

  • The Yamaha GX-1s pricetag in 1974 was 50 000 dollars. I don't know how much a M1 costs...

  • "Richard D. James(Aphex Twin) has one of these synth beauties as well. Such an astounding sound from a vintage instrument." - QFT

The best inviroment for a GX1 is infront of RDJ as he pumps out more Tuss tracs.

  • I think the GX-1 in my studio is in a pretty good environment...

  • i know man, just messin!

  • I know.

  • Richard D. James(Aphex Twin) has one of these synth beauties as well. Such an astounding sound from a vintage instrument.

  • It really is amazing.

  • cool
