@Pookypaws Well if you consider Vlad Tepes Dracula, he lived only for a bit in Transylvania which was under hungarians. He ruled and lived in Wallachia which was not. His father was from Wallachia and his mom from Moldavia. So he was Romanian. And depends in your case. You grandmother could be both. While it is true Transylvania was under hungarians the great majority were still Romanians. There were also hungarians. So she might be both. YOu can find if you study her genealogy.
Doing Hungarian accent is freaking easy... I just have to hear my mother for that (sorry mom ^^ just kiddng but she has a typical hungarian accent). Basically just "Vat is zis" for "what is this". Tada! ... ok I don't think it's absolute at all lulz maybe she's the only one ;p
Ok this is probably going to sound weird but have any of you heard of a little village that was close to "Dracula's" Castle? If you do know then could you please tell me?
@benbarnesluver1999 I am Hungarian as well. The older generation spoke differently and the fact he has been here in USA, I may presume he has probably got better over the years such as my dad.
Sounds nothing like a Hungarian accent? That guy IS Hungarian, and I'm sorry but that's exactly how a Hungarian accent sounds. Nothing wrong with it, but we might as well admit it.
@Pookypaws Dracula was not from Transilvania1 he went there after he lose the thron of Valahia(one of the 3 romanian countries(Romania was formed by 3 states inhabitated by romanians those are VALAHIA,MOLDOVA AND TRANSILVANIA BUT THEN THOSE COUNTRIES HAD DIFFERENT KINGS OFTEN WITH STRONG RELATIVES BETWEEN THEM)
Lugosi Béla is hungarian! He born in 1882 in Lugoj. In that time it was part of Austria-Hungary Monarch, originaly Hungary. So why is he romanian? Because Lugoj is now the part of Romania? No. He born as Béla Ferenc Dezső Blaskó, it's a hungarian name, not a romanian, Lugoj is a hungarian word too.
Vlad Tepes isn't romanian too. He born in Segesvár but from Moldáv (there's no word for moldáv in english) noble family, his true home is Havasföld.
@AuchenZero1 my God! VLAD TEPES was romanian(Dracula)he was born in Tirgoviste (Vlahia-one of the 3 romanian countries)son of a king !and Moldova is one of those romanian countries!what word Moldav -it is the name of o province now and then a country with the capital IASI but he was not from there!
@Magyar126 Well , The Historical Dracula ( Vlad Dracula ) WAS Romanian ! However in The Novel and Film Adaptations taking place BEFORE World War I , The Count WAS INDEED Hungarian AS UNTIL The End of World War I , Transylvania WAS in Hungary ! AFTER The War , it WAS moved to Romania ! Obviously in Film Adaptations where The Count`s Vlad , he`s Romanian ! However , this ALSO means Lugosi using his NATURAL Hungarian Accent WAS Justified in The 1931 Film AS The Move HAD ONLY RECENTLY happened !
@Erzsebettttt Lol my ass he was. Just cause a hungarian actor played Dracula in a silly movie doesn't make Vlad Tepes hungarian. He was Romanian and he ruled in Wallachia. Do you know anything except some fiction movie? Ever heard of history? Both his father's and his mother's lines are Romanian. His father was from the House of Draculesti that was one of the 2 from the House of Basarab and his mother is from Moldavia. I suggest learning more or not writing at all.
@BluetorchQs Excuse me but what country exactly do you come from ? Are you Hungarian ? Cause I didn;t catch that!By the way, read Magyar126 's comment . I AM HUNGARIAN and I KNOW that Vlad Tepes ruled over Romania but HE WAS HUNGARIAN , because Romania has a north part called Transylvania where it's full of Hungarians okay ? And you can Google it yourself . You should consider again before trolling around on the internet . And btw you shouldn;t write at all on internet don;t tell me what to do!!
@Erzsebettttt Nope but I am Romanian incidentally from Transylvanian part. And just because Transylvania used to be under Hungary at one time doesn't make it Hungary. And still the majority of the people there are Romanians. And Vlad Tepes ruled over Wallachia not Transylvania. Wallachia was not under Hungary's influence. His fathers line is from Wallachia (House of Basarab) and his mothers from Moldavia. Both are Romanian and in no way hungarian.
@Erzsebettttt And I suggest you listen to your advice and Google it. Write Vlad Tepes and see. You'll find out that even though he was born in Transylvania, his father was from Wallachia but was exiled there. His fathers house is the House of Draculesti, part of the House of Basarab. The founder of the House was named: "our treacherous Vlach" by the King of Hungary at that time. Vlach was a word used to describe Romanians and Roman descended people. He was Romanian and he rulled Wallachia.
@Erzsebettttt Was I not clear enough when I said: "Nope but I am Romanian incidentally from Transylvanian part."? Do you need me to draw it or something for you? And now I am at university in Scotland but that is hardly relevant. Anyways pointless discussion over. I got other more important things to do. Good bye.
Pls. ask your székely, csángó, szász neighbours for the transl.
@hasznalom Uhm I am sorry..but the message you sent me is pretty much useless. Either write it in english or don't write at all. I don't know hungarian and I don't plan on ever knowing it. And I don't have any neighbours or friends that know it. Remeber the ones that speak that language are a minority. period. And plus I am currently at uni in Scotland. So bye.
@BluetorchQs I' m not interested in your private life. Oh, come on! Try it! I'm sure you will find hungarians in Scotland (don't be afraid of Them, They are not vampires). :)
@hasznalom And I am not interested in what you wrote that much. So I can't be bothered. And why would I waste my time looking for hungarians? And afraid? Haha don't flatter yourself. What do vampires have to do with hungarians? (except the fact that a shitty hungarian actor played one in an equally shitty movie). Well try talking to me when you make more sense or have something important/intelligent to say. Ok bye.
@Magyar126 Are you mad or just another deluded butthurt (yea yea you know what I mean. QQ moar cause you lost Transylvania which was not yours to begin with) hungarian? Vlad Tepes was Romanian...and he ruled in Wallachia and his mother was from Moldavia. Neither Wallachia nor Moldavia were under hungarians. Just cause a hungarian actor played Dracula in a silly movie doesn't make one of the great rulers of Romania hungarian.
@Magyar126 I did check my history, "buddy". You prob didn't check yours. Vlad Tepes was romanian...Dracula is not important since he is fiction. But the ruler was romanian.
A magyar szó kisbetűvel írandó, ha kötekedni akarunk a helyesíráson. A mondatokat nagy betűvel kezdjük. Magyarnak születtem, magyar az anyukám és az apukám, Magyarországon nőttem fel, tehát magyar vagyok. Nem vagyok tökéletes, és hibázom eleget. Te magyar vagy?
To tell the truth, it is not a typical Hungarian accent. I've studied English for 16 yrs. My American friend uploaded this video. But Bela Lugosi, who was originally Hungarian, has a typical Hungarian accent. He wanted me to talk like him, but unfortunately I haven't seen the film before. Now I can talk like Béla Lugosi.
This is no hungarian accent, Sounds like Gary Oldman's Accent from Dracula, which WAS NOT a Hungarian accent, not by a long shot. It sound like a mix of just standard European accents.
although in that film, Dracula said once that he was székely (which is a group of Hungarians in Transylvania), so probably he tried to sound like that. However, Dracula was not Hungarian, (was not székely, did not speak Hungarian) he was Romanian.
@animacs1 MAYBE BELA LUGOSI WAS SZEKELY BUT DRACULA-VLAD TEPES WAS 100%ROMANIAN A KING OF VALAHIA WHEN HE LOSE THE THRON OF VALAHIA HE RUN AWAY IN TRANSILVANIA!HE FIGHT AGAINST THE TURKS WITH GREAT SUCCES AND HE IS A HEROE FOR THE ROMANIANS!
@lagasa91 I know that. that is what I am saying. In the film I saw (starring Gary Oldamn, a 1992 version, not the Béle Lugosi one), he said he was Székely, but he was not. I am not sure, whether it states in the original book or it whether it was only the film makers that mixed it up. I know that he definitely was Romanian.
