LOL....this vid reminds me of my F150 I got 2 months ago...it smelled like transmission fluid inside at first, but I have been driving it with the wings open so eventually the smell has gone away. Good thing no cats got inside...or I'd need those rocks to clean it up.

P.S. Scotty, just for laughs, between the holidays, work, football, and sleeping, I have not yet worked on the clutch safety switch, but I'll get around to fixing it one of these days.

this is a great idea. i haven't seen any products like this. only sprays like febreze auto or the one we use at work is GM odour eliminator, we spray it in the vents.

but i would love something like this. i still have a smell in my truck i've had for 2 years, a chocolate milk container was under my seat, why it was there i don't know, got rid of it, smell got less, even with febreeze it never went away

Hi Mr. Kilmer. I recently had asked you whether fluids could cause a bad odor. You said "anything that leaks and touches a hot exhaust can".. Ok I think I narrowed the issue to the Muffler, that was replaced over the summer, in a effort to correct odor. The muffler that was replaced supposedly had a small hole according to meineke. However the car has too strong of an exhaust smell still. It seems like the smell of a large city bus exhaust. I will have meineke look at it again. Any suggestions?

I researched online reviews about my car as it concerns the smell, and other items of interest. 1988 oldsmobile ciera coupe one owner said he had a gassy smell from the Fuel Injectors. I am thinking mine could be bad or dirty that is. My mechanic adjusted the idle recently. When I mentioned a smell he though catalytic converter. Another place where I found in my research that the fuel injector is a possibility is a text book I have from 1986 (continued) above

@scottykilmer Book is called Do It Yourself Auto Repair author Larry Carley. It has diagnostic charts for every system of cars from Deisel engines, fuel injection, carburetors, braking systems, engines etc. Where it said in exhaust section "smokey exhaust" on the same chart a black dot corresponded to a faulty fuel Injector. These things are gimmicks, if you clean all the fabrics in your car with a rugdoctor type thing (steam cleaner with upolstory attachment) you will have a smell-free and bacteria-free car. I've made it policy to rent one whenever I buy a used car...

@Matthew55904 Modern oils all have to pass government standards, so any will work fine, just use the recommended weight that the manufacturer suggests for your car. The penzoil is fine, I personally use castrol cause I always have and never have engine problems. Scotty

Hey Scotty, I have a 2006 Chevy Cobalt and would like to do a coolant flush because the Dex Cool is starting to look dirty/rusty. However there is no radiator cap. The system looks like it is pressurized through the overflow tank. How do I refill the system once I pull the petcock on the rad? Do I just pour coolant in the overflow, will that refill the system? Or do I have to pull off the upper rad hose and pour coolant in that way? THANKS & GREAT VIDS

Well you may be good at Vehicles, but I've studied this field. Those rocks do not remove the source of the smell. If someone with smelly shoes was in the vehicle and the vehicle now has an odd odor like smelly feet, the best bet would be to open a window and drive a bit. If you can't than this product would be good. But if a cat pisses on your fabric, these rocks will not magically remove the piss from the fabric. You'll have to manually wash the fabric to remove the source of the smell.

The story I love is one my mate swears he did. That was to place a dead yabbie (prawn) under the carpet in a discreet place in the boot (trunk). His mate spent many months trying to find the smell. He was told a few years later. It was payback for being a trickster himself.

@d3v3ouzm1ndz Just change the oil regularly, and I'd leave the tranny alone. They are VERY weak units and that could mess it up changing the fluid. Do all the maintenance on the VW, as they cost a ton to repair if you let things go too far and break. Scotty

Ground cheap coffee in an open dish, cereal bowl, container left inside will also remove odors as well as laying out newspapers.
