Also try to remember that (American) military hummers are lightly armored and protect troops against small arms (guns) and not much else, hence all the "up-armors" that are needed in Iraq.

The Chinese military manufacturers have their EQ2050s (Hummer clones) and other fast armored transports. I really doubt they need the Hummer Brand to manufacture more military hummers when they have all the industrial might in the world to make whatever vehicles they need.

The Dong Feng EQ2050 is China's version of the military High Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), which was around for several years before a Chinese company purchased the Hummer Brand!

The company that bought Hummer is called "Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company", relax it's privately owned civilian company that does heavy industries manufacturing and construction. It just recently started making heavy duty trucks and Hummers would fit wonderfully into that role.

1. All civilian H1 Hummers were manufactured by AM General (previously a division of the defunct American Motors Corporation) for General Motors. GM has never manufactured the H1 themselves, though GM components have been used in H1 vehicles built by AM General.

2. Production of the civilian H1 was discontinued in 2006 due to lack of demand.

3. The H2 and H3 are all based on civilian GM truck platforms with no relation to the military HMMWV at all.

I think Michael Savage is right about a lot of things but he's jsut plain WRONG on being able to get the 'military version of the Hummer' by slapping armor palte on an H2. The H2 is just a Chevy Tahoe with a different body. The HMMV is a completely different vehicle with a much more capable independent suspension all around, a turbodiesel engine, etc.
