  • @razr519 he doesnt have clips on the bar so if he were to fail he would simply dump the weight off to the side, no need for spotter if you prepare for failure and you are calm and know what to do in emergency.

  • it took me forever to get to the 265 mark, I've been lifting nonstop for a year and a half, getting bigger and stronger but could never get past 265 on bench. It can be the most rewarding and the most frustrating lift at the same time.

  • Good lift, Body weight at 150, very nice! My little saying is, 100lbs over body weight = good bench, Dbl body weight= beast bench! Keep up the good work, my brother is 148 right now, he bench 315, he is short though. Like 5'7ish, he is a hard worker, seems like you are too.

  • It is unlikely that a 14 year old can press 300+ But i wouldnt say it is impossible. Im 20 now and if i can remember right, im pretty sure i was close to 300 if not at 300. But i did weigh probably about 185. I might be wrong though but im pretty sure i was at least close.. i think i ended up getting 415 at the end of my senior year at around 220 lbs. Either way dude might be telling the truth, But fuck 300 lbs at 150 pounds is pretty damn good haha

  • @CivicSiGuy2007 I know we have already settled our differences, but i never saw this comment. So i will respond positively. I can do 135 for 4 sets of 20 easy. I would probably be better off doing 185 for 10-15 for 4 sets. And I agree. I feel alot more pumped pushing medium weight 10-20 reps than when i do heavy weight for 4-8 reps. This was just to see where i was at during that time. This was two years ago..i have improved quite a bit since then. But I agree bro!

I had my time with the heavy stuff, maxin on the bench, n repping high numbers isnt m thing anymore. I've developed a true bodybuilder mindset when it comes to training. Like today a leg workout consisted of 135 squats and 65lbs leg extensions. I almost couldnt walk lol.. What ur numbers at now?

  • @CivicSiGuy2007 Well, i have been lifting heavy for about the past year and to be honest, it is killing my right shoulder. It has happened before and it always heals with time.. but its been hurting now for the past 2 months. Its excruciating when i do chest or shoulders.. but I just push through it anyways. I did the 110's on incline for 8 the other day.. and it felt like the muscle was tearing. I want to get an MRI done.. but don't want to pay for it. I am into the reps now as well .

  • @VVillyVVonka One thing about bench pressing is it doesn't take you long you get weak again. I remember when I was 15, I could do 5-7 reps of 245, quit for 3 years, came back and I couldn't even do 10 reps of 135. 7 reps is all I had in me....lol

    I also missed 2 months recently, and yes, I dropped a little.

  • @VVillyVVonka 265lbs is great for a guy your size- for strength tips you should consider 2 things(which you probably know already). your bodyweight at 10% fat times by 2 should be your max bench press. e.g. an average natural bodybuilder at 5'10 can weigh up to 200lbs naturally with 10% fat. so your would be 400lbs-and 600lbs for squat. after this you need some JUICE.

I was my strongest at 17 .. and after about 4 months of strength training I was able to do 285 once and 225 for 10 flat and 225 incline for 4 .. I weighed at the time 155... people thought I was on roids but was just kinda strong for a kid. I am much much older now and just stick with bodyweight stuff .. but in the end ... just stay healthy .. injuries suck .. please get a spot next time ??

  • Good job. I don't care about benching as much. I just want to lose weight and fat. I want to make sure my cardiovascular strength and endurance is in tact for wrestling. Going hardcore on the treadmill makes you stronger than lifting weights. In all seriousness it does, lasting longer and going faster/more explosive means alot more to strength than getting one good smack in. UFC fighters are cut but not pure muscle. They can't, too much muscle will ruin your endurance.

  • @thearmchairexpert 265 for a 150 pound guy is nothing crazy but it's an impressive bench regardless. My max when I was 21 was 245 and I weighed 175 and did a lot of bench press for two years. I learned later I was doing too many reps so I didn't go up from there but yeah.... there's no need to be a douchebag about it. You honestly know of a freshman in highschool that weighs 150 and benches 265?

What I was saying was that for his weight the original video guy's 265 is fairly impressive and the "freshman weight" comment was pretty rediculous. Sure hope that 17 year old you mentioned is not still a freshman or he may want to quit benching and hit the books. But, yeah I get your point, there are some pretty damn big kids out there that make us look bad :)
