  • In 6th and 7th grade we played this when we had class parties for the holidays. I haven't heard this in a LOOOOOOOOOONG time.

  • I have this album and all the other DeBarge albums. Became a fan in elementary school and still a fan. Sisters and I used to sit around and sing these songs. Love the song "Saving up all my Love for You " from this album

  • 12-10-11. Air Force days, circa summer 1981. Bought this LP at the base exchange in Japan because I figured that they looked so much like Bobby and Tommy DeBarge of "Switch" that they had to be related to them.

  • Ugh shut up about Tyler already.

  • Tyler The Creator Brought me HERE!

  • @NaDewuN You're a faggot for announcing it.

  • @HeyImStavi umad?

  • @HeyImStavi umad?

  • @NaDewuN Even Tyler said this shit is annoying, stop being such a follower and find music on your own.

  • @HeyImStavi hmmm coincidence you like them and know tyler......and im the follower

  • @NaDewuN I know Tyler, but I don't ride his dick and announces that he brought me somewhere. Oh, and I knew about this song well before I knew of Tyler. Also, using memes as a force of a comeback shows your immaturity. Nice try, though.

  • @HeyImStavi Dude why the fuck do you even care? It doesn't matter to you if he's a follower or not so let him enjoy the music, and same goes for you, enjoy the music and just shut the fuuuck up.

  • @british642columbia Same goes to you, though. dat hypocrisy.

  • @HeyImStavi I'm quite aware, but it just needed to be said so you don't keep making the same idiotic mistake over and over. so whoooo cares

  • @british642columbia hypocrisy.

  • @HeyImStavi hahaha your a waste of time...smh

  • @british642columbia You're*

  • Tyler The Creator's Favorite Song <33

  • Damn that melody is just ridiculous!!!!!!

  • Were can find this song

  • Simply Beautiful!

  • This is one of my favorites by DeBarge. El had me at Wow there she goes again.

I love and miss them so much

  • How Bobby always sneaking up on their records, him & El sound just like ! LOL

  • This is one hard 2 find song, i remeber slow draggin off this joint n the 80's, El is my all time favorite R&B artist, his family my all time favorite group, a lot cat's say the Mike and the Jacksons, i say my 2nd favorites.

  • What a beautiful harmonic song! Is that El ?

  • @26kharris Yep EL

  • What a beautiful song.....wow

  • This is so similar to Leon Ware's - What's your name. cira 1979. nice remake they did :) watch?v=QsMRpQJhmyg

  • i cant stay away itz lik sayin bye 2 an adorable baby

  • this song iz 2 cute im smilin lik they tlkn bout me or sumthin i wuznt even born yet

  • Jesus Christ and his following Angels produced this song and the angels sung it from Gods orchestrated direction....can I get a thumbs up?

  • very cohesive harmony, especially towards the end

  • wow! forgot all about this song, I used to love this song!!!

  • Best part of the song is 1:20 to 1:31 He gets the hearts right there

  • I LOVE DeBarge. Was able to buy this CD 5 years ago. Paid alot, but it was worth it. I listen to all 4 albums (Debarges, All this Love, In A special Way & Rhythm Of The Night) on my mP3 player. Classic!!!!

  • Remember couple skating to this at Screaming Wheels in Gary, IN.

  • @ced8668 IM FROM CHICAGO AND I REMEMBER WE USED TO GO OUT THERE 2 SKATE I MISS THOSE DAYS! :(

  • damn bunny so fine! lol

  • Still shaking my head at the tight harmony and melody!!!!!....I get chills everytime I hear anything DeBarge sings!!!!!!.....Still UNTOUCHABLE!!!!

  • whoa.... i havent heard this song since it came out!!!!! i freakin' LOVE this song, im playin again as i text!!! me and my best friend used to sing this to the neighborhood girls when we were in high school!! yea, my best friend had (and still has ) that perfect high El debarge voice!

  • wow thank you for posting this song I have been looking for this for years and no 1 new what I was talking. I love this song it is soooooooo beautiful

  • I've had this album for YEARS. Love this song!!

  • never heard of this song b4. but i like it now!!!

  • Wow...I have been waiting over 20 years to hear this song again. Thank you thank you thank you Murphytech for posting my all time favorite DeBarge love song. My best friend in high school had this album and we used to play this song over and over, crying because their harmony was so beautiful and angelic, we were in love with the DeBarges. Hearing it again brings tears even today. I wish I had bought it when it came out. Their best along with their 2nd LP. Glad El is back! Thanks again!

  • Do this kind of remind y'all of the Temptations at the beginning especially, or with the "What's your name?". Just a thought. I've watched their movie a lot, so it just kinda popped in my mine, but I'm glad DeBarge released it. I've should've heard it on the radio by now.

  • I loved the beginning. It was so innocent but funny at the same time. Couldn't help smiling.

  • I remember first hearing this (I was 12 or 13) on AM radio (JPC) in Chgo and thinking it was Switch but when the radio announcer said 'DeBarge' I was like 'no wonder, them MUST be Tommy and Bobby's siblings'. Too much of a cooincidence for El to be sounding just like Bobby...This is my all time FAVORITE DeBarge record. It is just SOOO SWEET and chord progressions and harmonies are ridiculous! Their songwriting skills are underrated and unmatched.

  • love it

  • wow... I remember this song. I think El is singing lead on this song... Bobby did sing a song on this album (I think it was called Hesitated).

  • This is my favorite DeBarge song!!!!

  • Like many fist albums you have to dig deep into you love song library and find these songs. I was 11 or 12 years old when I first heard this song and loved it since, now Iam 43. This song is a treasure!

  • OMG! I haven't heard this since the year it was released. Loved it then and love it now. Brings back wonderful memories. I wanted to couple-skate with a skate guard I had a crush on this song. LOL

  • I heard it on the radio one night and recorded about half of it. It drove me crazy 'cause i just knew it was switch and this was before "I like it" came out and nobody knew anything about Debarge ..... Yet

  • Soulballad in devine style

  • wow! this is beautiful

  • This SHOULD have been their FIRST HIT RECORD but for whatever reason the powers that be at Motown did little or at least NOTHING to promote it.

  • Should have been a number one hit.

  • This is beautifulll..........

  • this is the only song I can get off their debut album

  • im not sure but i think this is Bobby not el singing on this, maybe wrong though

  • @PALIMOST Such a pretti song....Bobby's not in this group... he was in switch... El is singing lead... the other brothers on here are Randy and Mark

  • absolutely right, thanks i stand corrected

  • The lead singing the song is El Debarge, even though he does sound similar to older brother Bobby but overall It's El singing this song

  • @PALIMOST although bobby wasnt in the group, he sang led for this--he co-wrote it. el is in background this time

  • This song is a real gem.

  • Are you kidding? This was the bombay! It just didn't get promoted right by Motown. They soon corrected their mistakes by promoting the rest of the albums(and reissuing two of these songs). This album was full of strong work that showed that they were talented to the teeth.

  • My man El knew how to hit them notes, yo!

  • This brings back memories of my first girlfriend Genever Williams from Chicago IL!!! Ohia and Erie in the house!!! lol

  • My first slow dance! Thank you very much for this post.

  • I have this album... Love it.

  • I had this on cassette a very long time ago. nice post. thank you.

  • very very rare album. This is before james came to the group.

  • Damn! Admittedly, I overlooked Debarge, preferring Switch (Bobby & Tommy) to the younger Debarge members.

I've never heard this track. But damn, it still takes me back.

This is a sweet track. Thanx for posting!

  • Can anyone tell me where I can find this recording on cd?

  • You may find one on ebay.

  • Truly great song off the debut Debarge album; the song that caught my attention and "hooked" me to the immense talent of this group. My vinyl LP collection from "back in the day" brought me tremendous joy, and I've had the prescence of mind to hold onto them throughout the years. This extremely rare album by Debarge is one of the "treasures" of my collection, and the fact that I've held onto it makes me feel pretty good about myself.

  • You really SHOULD be proud!!! I'm so upset with myself, I lost my vinyl collection when I was immature in my early 20's moving from one place to another. I regret not holding on to those albums! Thanks for sharing- I loved this album too! I am happy for you -but I do envy you just a little :)

  • You may find a replacement on ebay. I seen a bunch of Debarge albums the other day.You may be able to replace that collection.

  • This is the song that got me hooked to Debarge as well. It really makes me feel mushy inside and takes me back to my jr. high schools days of puppy love.

  • Ok I see where Motown got the inspiration for New Edition!

  • it's platnum in our hart'z and soul

  • This album should have went platnum

  • This is the opening song on Bunny's myspace page.

  • This sound like a MJ/Jackson 5 type of song. Really nice song though.

  • This Song feels soooo good, thanks for posting this, I can't wait to share this with my Lady...I'm going to the record store and dig in the crates for this cut. By the way was this a "B" side song?

  • From my understanding it was never released a single, Now I could be wrong but I always had the LP. I'll look.

  • I don't think any song from this album was released as a single or ever charted. Don't think Motown promoted the album very well when it was released.

  • @Murphytech This was the first single. I remember it to a fault. I related this song with a ver y beautiful young lady back in the day. And one day I as thinking of her when this song first played on the air. At the time, it fit her. But as they say, Time moves on. And so did I. But I love this song. And have no regrets about the young lady.

  • You really have to be a Debarge fan to know this song. I remember this song from my aunts playing it when I was young. Nice song

  • MJ should of done some songs with them

  • I love this song! I wish this were on CD somewhere. Boy does this bring back a lot of happy memories!

  • thank you for taking me back to my younger years when the music had meaning

  • OH MY GOD! I've been looking for this song since i was a kid and for years thought it was Switch even though it's not on any albums. I think this was Debarge first single.

  • I totally forgot this song!!! I can sing it word for word!!! Oh the power of the brain and a good song, lol.

  • I actually have the 45 and I have this song on CD, we used to slow skate to this song at The Loop in Chicago on 95th St.

  • This is my favorite by the Debarges. I love them!

  • great great song

  • Debarge oh my god this is soooo beautiful you can feel God hands on this. They were truly blessed

  • @fede4real That's because the songs they wrote were gospel songs and once they got signed to a recording contract they changed those songs to secular ones.

  • One of the more under-appreciated slow jams from Motown's 2nd greatest sibling group.

  • OMG Thanks for posting this! I have the cassette tape..I use to Love this song sooo much!!

  • "Bobby went through a lot of pain," says Chico DeBarge of his oldest brother. "My father sexually molested a lot of my brothers and sisters. You could hear that anguish in Bobby's music."

  • one of the best groups of all time.

  • I have this cd..one of my favs from debarge (and there are many!)

  • can you look on your cd and tell us whos sing lead on this song?

  • I believe its El singing lead on this one. Doesnt actually say on the cd cover.

  • This is a beautiful song, but to slow to have been issued as the groups first single. This debut album was just as good as their own self produced album ALL THIS LOVE and IN A SPECIAL WAY. It never saw the light of day because Motown's Suzanne DePasse and Berry Gordy wanted direct control of the group instead of allowing Bobby DeBarge and Jermaine Jackson. Unforetuneately in the ensueing battle which Bunny discusses in her book, the album got lost.

  • Man this brings me back to my younger days, when you could slow dance for hours at a party and sing these songs softly into someones ear.

  • i heard this song in 80 or 81 at umass and i have been trying to find out what album it was on. I knew it was debarge so thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting this song........wait i'm singing it right now.

  • I feel so deprived. I missed out on years of singing this song in the shower!!!:-) This song is so beautiful and is sooo innocent. Thank you so much for posting this and bringing this song into my life!!! :-) I'm ready for DeBarge to put out another cd. I'm so tired of hearing about drinking vodka and breaking backs. What happened to leaving something to the imagination? Most of what's played today is radio's version of porn... We've got to do better.

  • drinking vodka and breaking backs....LOL I know thats right! You are right this music today could be considered audio porn!!!!

  • Amen to your comment, sister. Listen for the late Bobby DeBarge on adlibs at the end. Definitely a treasure piece here. Dosent get any better... reminds me of when life was simple. Having a girlfriend was fun, listening to the radio w/ ur girlfriend on the phone and waiting for your favorite song to come on... if not, then u were calling in requesting it. RIP Bobby.

  • thats not Bobby thats El, Bobby was still in Switch at this time.

  • It IS Bobby. He had began working with his siblings (The DeBarges) at this time to get them on... as later on he left Switch to put full work into DeBarge. But it IS Bobby.

  • Bobby DeBarge and served as mentor of the group's lead singer and younger brother El. In 1987, he promptly joined the El and Bunny-sans lineup of the group singing lead on several songs off DeBarge's final album, Bad Boys.

  • I have the 45...not in the best shape but it might be worth something huh? this song is so innocent i'm blushing

  • Alot of people like and want this song

  • I cannot get this song for all the tea in China :( If anyone can help me with this I would be so happy. I remembered it the moment I heard it. Another song that stays with you..........I miss Debarge!!!!

  • tell me about it

  • this cd went for 100 bucks on ebay.

  • I was born in 1990 but i believe I am an 80's baby delayed. I love 80's music like O'Bryan and of course DeBarge and many others. My mother was in high school in the 80's and she loves to relive her high school days frequently so I know a lot of 80's songs and groups and because she exposed it ito me. Most of the songs in my library are before my time. I rarely listen to what's out there now.

  • Well not O'Bryan but that's what she listens to. But i love DeBarge and others that she listens to.

  • Im glad you feel that way because alot a young people but wht they dont realize is what they listen to now..is copied and samples of these original. good music should never die..

  • Exactly and I believe The Original song sung by the original artist is the best. Like One more chance by Biggie, I don't like BUT stay with me by DeBarge is one of my faves. The lyrics had meaning back then not shake it drop it and all that junk. Everybody is coming out with these DOGGONE dance tracks..It is Disgusting to me.

  • Never seen a smile like yours before, beaming like the morning sun. Man o man, real lyrics. Very cool song.

  • Great song. I remember this tune. They just don't make good music like this anymore.

  • LOVE THIS

  • i love this song so much!

  • One of the prettiest songs i've heard. One of my favs from this release. Where could i get the CD its long been out of print?? Would be nice if Motown and re-release DeBarge & Switch to CD form with some unreleased gems from motown vault from both groups.

  • Sometimes I still can't believe that this album never made the charts. A crying shame!!!!! This was an extremely GREAT first effort on behalf of DeBarge. I love it so much I bought it twice, it's so worth it.

  • I heard this song alot when I was a kid !!! Thank You MurphyTech 4 Uploading this Gem !!!

  • Thanks for posting this song. I went to Bunny Debarge's website on myspace and heard this song for the first time tonight. I sure would like to have this song on a cd.

  • That's what happened and i loved it!!

  • Thank you for posting this hidden gem. How did this song didn't become a hit when it was first released.

  • Switch and DeBarge sure did write some great love songs!!! I am gonna research and find out exactly which songs Bobby wrote and which songs El and the others wrote. Switch had a more soulful, heavier bass line in thier songs and DeBarge songs were more sweet and pretty.

  • Aaah, the very very first single by The DeBarges ... Love it.

  • For the attention of Micaluvstinasongs and donchichi2007. I do have this song in my collection, if you like, I could sent to you both via email.

  • thanks for telling me, but I just found it a couple of weeks ago and boy was it hard!

  • Alot of people aint up on this cut here! Back in the 80's jam. It was a cut and I have been trying too get this from Limewire /mp3 rocket for the longest!

  • did anybody see th special on them on "unsung" on BET!

    pretty sad stuff.....

    always loved th song btw!

  • Does anybody know where else I can download this song cause limewire won't let me lol

  • My name is Nashara..lol. I love this song. Thanks for posting!!

  • thank u

  • WOW!!! It's been a long time since I've heard this one THANKS MURPHYTECH

  • Ahhh... lovely {-) ... just gotta close ur eyes for a sec, you know...

  • am only 18 and i love the DeBarges, the debut album didnt do that well apperently but the songs on it are really good. I love this one and saving up (all my love).

  • This came out when I was in junior high and it still sounds good. Too bad the music of today is God awful in comparison.

  • WHO'S SINGING LEAD ON THIS SONG

  • Randy, I believe.

  • El's singing lead on this one. Randy is singing lead on Saving Up All My Love.

  • I cry a little every time I play this video. It reminds me of: (1)a sweet & beautiful time in my life and (2)my big brother-'hero'-'now angel' who 1st introduced me to the DeBarge family. I still have the album, but no turntable to play it on; so I've been singing it to myself over the years. My heart is so full right now.... Thank You Murphytech

  • I glad that it reminds you of some of the good times in your life, Happy Holidays

  • LOVE THIS

  • Im so glad I came across this song its soooo pretty

  • This is when music really meant something. Too bad my generation only care about violence and sex.

  • Keep that on post this is freaking awesome thanks man

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhh MY GOD i FORGOT ABOUT THIS SONG. THIS USED TO BE MY JAM BACK IN THE DAY! THANKS FOR THE POST!

  • U are welcome

  • Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have been dreaming of this song since I was a kid. I've been dying to hear this again... :-)

  • u are welcome

  • Yes!!, thought I would never hear this song again, thank you Murphytech.

  • THANK YOU! I have been searching for this song for years. This is an All-Time killer jam.

  • you are welcome

  • A great song from a slept on album. I like Strange Romance a whole bunch too. Very rare CD! Good looking out!

  • Murphytech, you've done it again. One of the best ballads in the whole DeBarge collection. Written by Bobby,El, and Bunny. I also recieved this album early this year.

  • Such a pretty song...I didn't know about the album or the song until recently. I wish it was still available...I would definitely get it. Thanks for posting!

  • Well, there is a copy for sell on amazon, but the asking price is too HIGH (I think so). Beleive it or not queen of my heart & share my world was first released on this album and then re- released. Queen of my heart was released on In A Special Way cd, Share My World was later released on the Rhythm Of The Night cd. Also, Hesitated is on this cd which is the 45 flip side of I Like It.

  • Yeah, I saw that too and I would have to agree. I don't think I've ever seen any CD listed at such a high price. I knew about the other songs that were released on other album when I was trying to find The DeBarges. Why, oh why wasn't this song selected among the others? Anyway...thanks again! :)

  • They re-released this album back in 2003. I had to get my copy. It was an import from Japan. The price was about $32. But I ain't care. DeBarge is worth the money. I love this song. Thanks for posting
