Not recommended by the company and probably very dangerous! I haven't tried it... If the bike's moving wheel moved to one side or the other, it may jump the rollers. Too risky!
You're right, I was just kidding :). But before I installed chain oiler I did chain cleaning and lubricating by putting the bike on central stand and running it on 1st gear. Also not recommended (especially with long sleeves of a shirt :D).
why not just use a bike stand?

I guess big heavy bikes like cruisers would be difficult to get up on a rear stand.

I have a crazy idea. What if you start the bike and put it into gear? while rear wheel is in the wheel roller :)
