@brunswickwashere That's fine, believe that, but don't tell other people to believe it. I'd rather not just say, "oh cool, God made that" and be done with it. I'd rather spend my whole life in awe of the magnificent world we live in, and never stop learning about why the world works, then just jump to the conclusion of "well God made that".

First let me say that diatoms are awesome. Second, this religious thing made me laugh. Is it possible that God exists - sure, why not? I'm not 100% sure what existence entails, i.e., was it nothingness before the embryonic universe was contained in the point of what many consider the Big Bang? We all subscribe to a belief in something whether it is of science, theology, or other, e.g., the FSM. Diatoms exist regardless of God's existence. If God exists, I assume God created diatoms. Otherwise..
actually diatoms are ameobas that live in shells not algea, they do however have algea symbionts most of the time. also wtf why has this turned into a religious debate? just leave the little guys out of it theyre just trying to aquire nutrients guys!
It was amazing the first time I saw the fluorescent sparkles when me and my friends went to stir the ocean waters at night. When someone was pulling up a crab trap, we could see the trap glow from way beneath the water.
Unfortunately, this is too small for religion to have known all along and they are now trying to thank god for it.
Just like when someone is healed from a fatal disease and GOD had to have done it, not the doctor who sacrificed his life and money to study and then saved the patient`s life, nor all the hospital staff.
According to your logic he would then also be the killer of all young innocent children who die from disease, accidents and so on, maybe some of them even killed by somehow swallowing large quantities of diatoms!
Religion is nonsense and nonsensical people keep perpetuating lies and absurdities.
